Pros: Engine power, transmission Cons: Front seats need work, seems to be hard on front end components, wheels, front brakes The Bottom Line: Alot of vehicle for 25-26K, but be aware its weak point is front suspension/brakes/wheels.
Got a 04 4x4 4.7 V8 Quad CAb Sport Plus. Likes: Love the ride and handling compromise. Feels kind of like a sports sedan in most situations. The ride is taut and well controlled but never harsh or jarring. Surprisingly well engineered ride ...

Pros: Power, drivability, passenger comfort, reliability, and value Cons: Mileage is not great. The Bottom Line: If you can get by with the shorter bed, the Dakota Quad is the way to go.
This is our second Dakota. The first was a 1999 club cab 4X4. The 99 was a plain-jane variant with the V-6 and a 5-speed manual transmission. The only, and I mean only problem I ever had with the old truck was that it did not have enough room in the rear ...

Pros: Power, just right size, roomy Cons: Gas guzzler The Bottom Line: Its a great truck. It will haul people, haul the goods and with the 4.7 v8 it just plain hauls.
I purchased my 2002 Dakota Quad cab in May of this year. So far I have logged 13k on the odometer. I feel I have had a chance to put it thru its paces so to speak in the last 5 months. I am going to break the review into categories to make it easier to...

Pros: Roomy interior, nice ride, plenty of power with 4.7 Cons: Steering wheel column big, Steering wheel itself too small The Bottom Line: Seats 4 adults, hauls small loads, has a lot of power and is fun to drive.
BACKGROUND:
I had a 1999 ZR2, 2-door blazer previous to this. It didnt have 4 doors, and I destroyed the interior (beach sand, spilled laundry detergent, etc.) hauling things around. So I was looking for a truck with 4 doors and a truck bed. I...

Pros: Great size, back door opens to 90 degrees, ride and power. Great for small family. Cons: Gas milage, some cheap plastic compenents, Brakes. The Bottom Line: Great alternative to SUV if 3rd row seat not needed, and will save you few grand. Pickup truck with muscle car attitude. W/nice camper shell looks like SUV.
I purchased our Dakato a couple of years ago, I was actually debating on a extended cab Ford F-150 a ...

Pros: Work truck with family functionality. Cons: Mileage is not much better than for full sized trucks. Small bed. The Bottom Line: Mid-sized truck that works well in both a work and family environment.
This truck purchase was the result of my husband changing jobs and losing his company car – a 2000 Ford F-150 extended cab 4x4. We’d hung on to his old truck, a 1996 Dakota 2x4, but it did not have an extended cab, so we had no place to put our two...

Pros: great ride, great room inside for all passengers Cons: expensive to repair and a terrible track record for repairs. The Bottom Line: I will do all I can to discourage anyone from ever buying a Dakota or a Durango.
I bought this truck brand new from one Denney Hecker Rosedale Dodge in Roseville, Minnesota. They are a 5 star dealer in the area. They have done all the maintenance on this truck. I have 36,500 miles on it when the transmission selinoid went out on it ...

Pros: Great hauling capabilites
Reliable
Easy to maintain Cons: Poor Gas Mileage
Saftey results leaves much to be desired. The Bottom Line: If you need it for towing or hauling a Dakota would be a good choice.
This is the first vehicle that I owned outright, and I am more than satisfied with it. The car has many perks but it does have a couple of flaws to it. To start with the negatives, like most trucks the dakota does not get great gas mileage. The ...

Pros: Family room, and pick-up truck versatility. STRONG V8!!! Nimble handling. Cons: Short, narrow bed. Upholstery could be nicer. The Bottom Line: Get it. I recommend the V8, fuel economy isn't any worse on average, and the power is AWESOME!!! Kids will love it.
I had a quad cab Ram 1500. It was great, but the Dakota fits in the garage better!! More room in backseat for kids, and I'll be darned if that truck doesn't drive like a sports car. Smooth shifting, great suspension...eats up every bump like it's...

Pros: Great engine, looks, handling Cons: On the long side, too long 5th gear The Bottom Line: Look no further
I bought This truck new almost two years and 36000 miles ago. Before buying it I did a lot of shopping around and test drove several competitors including the Nissan SC and the Tacoma V6. I have the 4.7 4X4 liter with manual transmission and virtually...

Pros: Lots of power, lots of room inside. Looks good. Cons: Short bed, a few squeaks. No side rail protection. The Bottom Line: If I were me, I might go for the Ram or Ford quad cab but my wife is extremely happy with the Dakota.
We decided on the truck after lemon law'ing our Jetta. (Can read about it here)
It was a great choice. The problem we had was that we wanted a 5spd with the 4.7L motor. Couldn't find one so we had to order one. It was a relatively painless process...

Needed New Front End After Just 50K

Pros: Comfortable. Nice power. Looks good. Cons: Guzzles gas. Not very reliable.
I bought my Dakota Quad Cab new in 2002. It ran great until about 50K, at which time I needed a whole new front end. Shortly after I had that work done, Dodge issued the recall. I have about 90K on it now and look forward to the "check engine" light coming every two months or so. It's always the same thing - evap leak. Maybe someday American car makers will get it right! I think I'll look at a Tacoma 4-door when I need a new truck.

A Pickup I Can Put My Whole Family In.

Pros: Space, Comfort, Handling, Seating for 5 Cons: Low gas milage, Large turning radius, Could use more interior storage spaces.
Bought this truck new in Feb. 2002. It now has about 60,000 miles. I wanted a pickup but needed something I could fit my whole family in.
It has been a very reliable vehicle. It has antilock brakes and anti-slip differential which really helps in the snow and mud.
It has a good ride and handles well but has a large turning radius.
I have only one arm and therefore needed an automatic transmission. That really hurts the gas milage.
Given my needs I am very happy with it.
