Pros: Price, Performance models added to the line-up, Standard equipment. Cons: Confusing packages, price can get steep with options. The Bottom Line: Adequate comfort, good performance, and a good warranty gives this car my recommendation.
Despite the 1994-1998 models being somewhat unrefined and in some cases unreliable, the Dodge Neon has always been a bargain basement priced automobile that offered good performance, relatively good comfort at a very good price. The 2002 models...

Pros: Seemed reliable, handled well, good in the rain, surprisingly large interior, cute redesign Cons: Idled roughly, needs more standard options The Bottom Line: A good, solid car that needs a few more standard options, but is an excellent value for the money.
I definitely consider myself a "car person" and always pay close attention to what people are driving. I can look at a car on the road and name the make and model. I go to car shows with my boyfriend and pore over the car literature endlessly upon...

Pros: Sporty little car that comes nicely loaded Cons: Small gas tank requires frequent fill-ups The Bottom Line: Recommended for those wanting a reliable, sporty economy car that is fun to drive.
DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE AND PRICE:
I purchased my black 2002 Dodge Neon in August 2002 from the New Roc City Dodge Dealership in New Rochelle, NY. I first checked prices at other Dodge dealerships including Yonkers Avenue Dodge (awful sales staff)...

Pros: Stylish, quick, not a Honda Cons: Not a Honda The Bottom Line: Great little car that isn't a Honda.
The vehicle I am reviewing is a 2002 Flame Red base model Neon with the 135hp 2.0 liter engine and manual transmission. Price, as tested: 10,500.00 out the door.
It may be only a base model, and it may not be that fast, but it's red and it's...

Pros: Great looks, power, quality, amazing price and NOT a Honda! Cons: I haven't found any yet! The Bottom Line: Great looks, dealer support, 7 year/70000 mile warranty, great stereo sound, silky engine, 30 mpg, side airbags. THIS is a best buy ...and doesn't look like the boring competition!
I shopped Honda (overpriced), Toyota (tall Corolla's are NOT style), Ford Focus (Close second but Dodge had the best seats and safety and a best ride). Saw the car at 6 PM on a Friday at a CarMax dealer and by 7 PM I drove home. The car drove...

Pros: Affordable, plenty of cabin room, fun to drive, and easy to manuver. Cons: Small car in general and has a noisy engine. The Bottom Line: Overall, the Neon is a great value and appears to be a very economical and fun car to drive. I would recommend.
Overall Statement
This car has been in production since 1994. The 2000-2002 model year cars were virtually the same. The newer generation has completely won my attention.
Why I Bought a Neon

Pros: Front leg room, handling Cons: Loud engine, sluggish acceleration, cheap implementation The Bottom Line: NEON-not what you want to drive to work everyday, much less take a long drive in.
Two days ago I had to take a trip to Philadelphia (100 miles each way). I was trying to save my company some money, so I rented Dodge NEON(the cheapest rental from Enterprise). By the end of my trip I have formed a mostly negative opinion of Neon.

Pros: acceleration, handling, great ride Cons: So far...CD player has malfunctioned twice in a week, defective tire The Bottom Line: I would recommend the Neon based on performance so far because it's a great little car for a nice price. Wonderful driving experience and great gas mileage.
I thought since no one has yet written a review for the 2002 Neon, I'd give you a quick overview of my experience thus far. I bought my car two weeks ago today. It is a red SXT model, which I believe just came into production this year. The car's...

Pros: comfortable seats, roomy interior, peppy
engine, nice style job Cons: impossible to find w/ABS The Bottom Line: Great value, especially as a used car to avoid big
early depreciation!
The 2002 Dodge Neon is arguably a better buy used than new, as it has terrible resale value, par ...

Pros: Great compact commuter for the money Cons: Small gas tank requires frequent fills and sharp bumps will bottom suspension. The Bottom Line: No disappointments: smooth running, quick enough, very comfortable in town or on the road. Easy to park and drive. Looks modern and they have really improved it through the years.
I turned 5000 miles on the odometer this week(March 02). Bought the sedan last August(01) because of an ad in a Chicago newspaper that Friday in August. The dealer had 3 new 2002's with auto and air advertised for $9495. That was about...

Pros: Great car. Good gas mileage. Got me to Miami and back -- no problems. Cons: I would worry as the Neon matured. Will this car hold up? The Bottom Line: Before you spend too much money on a car, consider this less expensive model.
I was going to Miami and did not want to take my own car, so I rented and put the miles on someone else's 'ride.' Initially I was quite disappointed to find that I would be driving a Dodge Neon; this car would be my companion for thousands of miles and...

Pros: Great performance, excellent handling, a fun car to drive, a true modern "sleeper" Cons: slightly lower performance than the first-generation models, due to the additional weight The Bottom Line: For a fun, economical car, you can't go wrong, i liked the first one so much, i bought another one
What can i say, i liked the Neon so much, i bought another ;) my first Neon, a '98 Highline, gave me 120,000 miles of fun and spirited driving, and the only problem i ever had with it was the dreaded "headgasket issue", then again, headgasket failures ...

Pros: Small red tank, holds up well in traffic accidents. Cons: Slow, gay, cheap, gas hog, Parking brake light comes on, poor quality goodyear tires The Bottom Line: Chrysler Sucks for not helping me through this ordeal. They gave up after replacing the top 1/2 of my motor 3 times. It is slow & noisy
I have had my 02 Neon sxt ( Flame Red ) from 12 miles on the odo. At 22 miles it had to be re-built due to engine noise. About 5 months later, it was re-built again due to noise ( that never went away after the first repair ) it was out of the shop for ...

Pros: Affordable! Affordable! Affordable! Cons: Things that I think should come standard, are costing extra $$$. The Bottom Line: If you want a nice, sporty looking car with all the nice features...and want it CHEAP...the NEON is the way to go!
Recently my husband and I have been researching cars that are cheap, but still nice. We narrowed it down to two and the neon was one. We really like how the Neon has the young sporty look, nice color selection, comfortable seating, and most importantly...

Pros: reliability, gas mileage, control Cons: small trunk, some blind spots due to high rear The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to those who are on a tight budget who can't afford frequent repairs.
My wife and I both bought Dodge Neon SXT in may of 2002. due to the fact that we both had different vehicles before, we had no idea what to expect, but for $0 down for both cars, it would have been difficult to pass up. Well, 4+ years later, we have had ...
