Pros: HUGE, SPACIOUS, lends itself easily to utility purposes Cons: Lacks the luxury of newer models (understandable); Ride can be a bit challenging. The Bottom Line: They don't make SUV's like this anymore. The 2002 Expedition was huge, made for huge Americans with utility strongly in mind. EXCELLENT OWNERS EXPERIENCE.
My family has been strictly Ford, Lincoln and Mercury buyers. I grew up with those brand names and they have treated us extremely well. I recently broke with tradition by buying Cadillac Escalade EXT 2003 and then 2007. I am desperately waiting for ...

Pros: safety, good amount of cargo space, comfort, maneuverability, price, seat up to nine. Cons: It's darn hard to climb up into the beast! The Bottom Line: safety, good amount of cargo space, comfort, maneuverability, price, seat up to nine.
My niece and nephew decided it was time to start a family. One of the first things on their agenda was buying a very safe vehicle for the new baby. Of course safety was the major concern as was space.
I’m sure the...

Pros: Safety ratings are high; prestigious; roomy interior Cons: High price tag; few colors; difficulty in parking; annoying seat belt warning beeper The Bottom Line: This is a prestigious SUV, but unless you really need something this large and this expensive, you should probably pass.
Are you in the market for a sport utility vehicle? Do you need an SUV that has lots of room, for both passengers and for hauling? If so, then the 2002 Ford Expedition might be just the vehicle you’ve been looking for. Ford introduced this line of...

Pros: Good for OCCASIONAL special needs. Cons: Gas mileage, resale, insurance. The Bottom Line: Good for the OCCASIONAL special need, but very expensive with hidden costs everywhere.
I know I wrote an similar review on the Lincoln Navigator, but these SUVs are identical and the same information applies.
To bring up a few important points about large SUVs to consider before purchasing. As you know, large SUVs have been...

Pros: Lots of room for passengers and hauling, Eddie Bauer styling Cons: Gas Mileage, 3rd row seat doesn't fold flat, won't fit in older parking garages The Bottom Line: I absolutely recommend the Expedition without reservation. The Eddie Bauer Edition is the only way to go!! You won't be disappointed.
I've read all of the other reviews posted for the 2002 Expedition and I'm amazed that most of the reviewers don't even own one, yet are compelled to write reviews that are nothing more than retyped spec sheets from Ford.
Take it from an actual...

Pros: easy to drive, able to see 5 cars ahead of you, very roomy, 4 wheel drive Cons: parking garages, bumpy ride, eats gas, The Bottom Line: If you can afford the gas, GET ONE! We are going on our fourth one, does that tell you anything. Other than the bumpy ride, We love it!
We had one of the first Ford Expeditions out to hit the road in late 96 and we would have everyone come up to us and ask us “how we liked it." We are on the 2-year lease program and we would just hand it in for another one. I am a tiny woman and at...

Pros: Towing capabilities, brakes, comfort Cons: gas mileage, soft shifting transmission The Bottom Line: I would recommend the Expedition to anyone who tows, needs cargo or passenger space, or wants an all weather vehicle with sufficient power.
Although we are into the 2002 model year, there were no mechanical changes between this year's model and the 2001. The only differences are color and option availability.
I ordered a 2001 Expedition XLT in September of 2000 to be shipped to Roush...

Pros: Highly maneuverable, great visibility, safe Cons: Third row seat gets in the way sometime. The Bottom Line: If you can afford it, buy it, if not find something else!
I bought my 2002 EB Expedition in Oct of '01. I've driven it as my only vehicle since then and I am absolutely glad that I bought it. I'll probably buy another one soon! My vehicle has the large 5.4L V8 engine, has a brush guard on the front and ...

Pros: Cavernous interior, all the ammenities, awesome towing capability, plenty of power Cons: Lower resale value compared to imports The Bottom Line: Outstanding vehicle. Give it a drive and you might be hooked! The ultimate multi-purpose unit. A 4X4 leather sofa in a concert hall that travels!
Ford did it right with the Expedition. Both of my younger brothers bought one and after riding inthem I followed suit. I'm not a big fan of domestic cars from a reliability standpoint being a Honda/Toyota connesiour. But, being 6ft2in with all the...

Pros: Good road visibility, adjustable pedals, rear entertainment system Cons: Unconfortable third row seat, poor fuel economy. The Bottom Line: I recomend the expedition but for better craftmanship and reliability the Chevrolet SUV's are far better.
Dear readers,
The 2002 Ford Expedition is a very stylish SUV, since introduction in 1997 it has created a trend in the SUV market. The Ford Expedion with it luxurios features and powerful engines provide a good way of comuting to...

Pros: Smooth, quiet, sturdy, well-built, powerful, massive interior space Cons: Removable seat is brutally heavy The Bottom Line: 99% great SUV. Only advice would be to make sure you get the new feature of the retractable 3rd-row seat. You'll be very happy you do.
Everything about our new 2002 Expedition is better than our 1997 Explorer Sport. More power, better handling, quieter ride, better gas mileage, smaller turning radius. The only piece of advice we offer to anyone planning on buying a new Expedition is...

Pros: Passenger capacity Cons: Gas mileage, 4.6L V8. Not very strong. Sloppy steering The Bottom Line: Do not buy it unless you are a very confident driver and don't mind over-steering.
About 4 months ago my wife and I bought 2 fords on the same day, 2002 F150 XLT supercrew and a 2002 Expedition XLT with the 4.6L V8. The Expedition's ride is smooth, but it doesn't handle very well. It is equipped with compressed air bags in the rear...

2002 Ford Expedition, where to start...

Pros: Enough room for kids. Gas mileage good. Cons: No cargo room, back seat is bulky and hard to get in and out of.
This is the third Ford I've owned in my life. I started with a Ford Taurus, a Ford Explorer and now an Expedition. I guess I'm a bit of glutten for punishment. I've had problems with all of them. But yet I seem to keep going back. My expedition has the "air ride" which is suppose to make the ride more comfortable. Which it has; but now the compressor is shot and my air bags are dry rotted and the whole thing needs to be replaced. I found a conversion kit, which replaces the airbags with coils. Other problems I have had, is with the middle row. The passenger side latch gets stuck and sometimes is hard to fold the seat down so that my children can climb in and out. The whole point of me buying my expedition was to have more room; but there is no room in the "trunk" area to put anything. If you want the room you have to take the whole back seat out. Which by the way, is very heavy. I've managed to do it by myself, (I'm 5'1", 130lbs) but I do struggle. Putting it back in is worse.

Pros: None to be found at this point. Cons: Read above
Since purchasing my certified pre-owned vehicle in 2005, I have had nothing but trouble. It was fine until it reached the 70,000 mile range (warranty is out at 75K), it began to fall apart. Beginning in August of 2006, I have had to have the front heating core replaced 4 times, the radiator 3 and now the back heater is bad and unfortunately not covered under warranty. We just replaced the 3rd radiator and had to pay for it out of pocket because it had been 2 months past the year mark. Did I forget to mention that 2 different dealerships have worked on it? And to top it off, the driver side window no longer works... I will never, ever purchase a Ford again.

Pros: passenger seating, smooth ride, lasting engine Cons: cargo space, gas mileage
I bought my 2002 Eddie Bauer Expedition brand new. Boy, I could not wait to drive this truck around and live in luxury. I can tell you that Ford has definitely not let me down on this one. I have not had the first problem with my truck and it still runs like it did the day I first test drove it. This truck has seen alot of travel and has never let me down. I love the room in it. With four children and their friends you just cannot pass up the passenger space. I think Ford deserves a great big kiss for the production of such an amazing vehicle. I cannot imagine driving anything else. Thank You Ford Motor Company!!1
