Pros: Gas Mileage, Smooth Ride, Excellent Factory Tires Cons: Gutless, Bench Seat, Clunky Shifting at Times The Bottom Line: Good little truck, but I suggest the XL over the XLT or the 4X4.
I bought my Ranger new in 2002 and now have 40,000 miles on it. As Ford has problems with power options, I intentionally bought a bare bones model for $9,000. It may be a gutless 5-speed, but with a canopy on the back I get a full 30 MPG at 60 MPH- ... read more

Pros: Quiet, dependable, economical, good performance. Cons: Uncomfortable seating, little leg room in standard cabs, low mileage in 4x4. The Bottom Line: The 2002 was one of my favorite Rangers. If the seats had been comfortable I would have kept it.

Pros: This truck gets really good gas mileage and is great for first time drivers. Cons: This truck is really light and you can feel the wind going down the road. The Bottom Line: This truck is a good investment for the first time driver. It is easy and non-sophisticated to operate. It is just the ideal starter vehicle.
The 2002 Ford Ranger is a great truck because it is very reliable and gas mileage is not a problem. I can go for two weeks in my truck on one tank. The only downfall is that the truck is really light. You can feel the cross wind from the side of the ... read more
