Honda 2002 CR-V: An SUV for People Who Don't Like SUVs

by scmrak scmrak is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50
Jun 09 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: room, economy, comfort, build quality, amenities, safety
Cons: road noise, power, bland handling
The Bottom Line: For a guy who sneers at those super-tankers out there on the road, I sure like my new mini-SUV (even though it's really a glorified station wagon)!

I miss station wagons. The first new car I ever bought was an '82 Civic station wagon, a car that literally and figuratively put the "box" in "econobox." Many times, that little trouper carried the two of us, our gear, and a good-sized dog well off the...

Designed for how people actually use SUVs

by mkaresh mkaresh is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10
Dec 02 '01 - Updated Oct 03 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Utility, comfort, fuel economy, refinement, nimble handling, quieter than competition
Cons: Just adequate power, bland styling
The Bottom Line: Nothing racy or luxurious, but about as sensible as an SUV gets. If "functional competence" is your thing, you'll love the new CR-V.

For years Honda was much more successful in the United States than it was in its home country of Japan, so much so that rumors floated around that it might actually move its headquarters. In the top two among the Japanese brands in the United States for ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: I'm driving my dream vehicle.
Cons: The monthly payments really suck!
The Bottom Line: If you're going to spend more than bare minimum on a vehicle, you can't get a better long-term deal for your buck.

Preamble
Who here is surprised that I am a spoiled brat? :)

I have wanted a Honda CR-V for at least a year. Every time I'd see one on the road, I would stare at it longingly like a piece of chocolate :). But see, in the past, I...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Interior room, power, fuel economy, overall design
Cons: Wind noise, AWD system, tires, electrical system
The Bottom Line: Best choice amongst the mini-SUVs with a few issue that we've noticed in the past year.

I did a great deal of research before choosing the 2002 Honda CR-V. After 8 month of driving this vehicle, I wanted to summarize some items I've not seen in other reviews. We chose the 2002 CR-V EX and added a plastic hood deflector, and roof racks....

Pros: Room, comfort, reliability, amenities and safety
Cons: Power
The Bottom Line: If you want the reliability of Honda Motors, the safety and affordability you are looking for, then try 2002 Honda CR-V for your transportation needs.

Two of the fast-growing segments of the automobile industry are what's known as the "cross-over utility vehicles," and "Sport Utility Vehicles." In fact, SUVs have been on the market for quite some time. But, Honda did not see it fit to get into that...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: The CR-V is a well designed and dependable vehicle
Cons: The styling is very plain. The power is borderline.
The Bottom Line: A nice versatile vehicle that is reasonably priced.

The 2002 Honda CR-V delivers the economy, dependability, and overall value for which Honda has become known. I was very favorably impressed with the service that my daughter, Penny, received from her Honda . When it was finally time...

Pros: Great Acceleration. Roomy. Easy Visibility. Affordable.
Cons: Stiff Seats. Road Noise.
The Bottom Line: This is a FUN truck. It looks sleek and drives like a dream with a tight turn radius and lots of useful space.

This is a truly wonderful SUV. Honda knew what they were doing when they built this supple piece of machinery. The handling is car-like and very responsive in tight situations, and has amazing get-up and go. Behind this power is a quiet engine that ...

Even a car lover like me would happy in one of these CR-V's!

Jun 27 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: V6 smoothness and power from a four cylinder, great handling and steering, well designed interior
Cons: swing out hatch, could use another inch or so of legroom up front
The Bottom Line: It figures that Honda would be then one company that builds an SUV that even I would consider buying. Try it, you'll like it!

I admit it, I'm not a fan of SUVs is general. I find them for the most part to be clumsy, thirsty ...

2002 Saturn VUE versus 2002 Honda CR-V

by AsWeSeeIt
Dec 16 '01 - Updated Dec 22 '01

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: CR-V or VUE, two good choices for buyers.
Cons: That darn wheel hanging on the rear door.
The Bottom Line: VUE or CR-V? Both are fine vehicles, but Honda quality and experience with SUVs gets the nod this time.

2002 Saturn VUE versus 2002 Honda CR-V

The new Saturn VUE is a nifty mini SUV that Saturn hopes will compete well with the Honda CR-Vs for buyers’ attention. My wife and I recently compared the VUE and the newly redesigned Honda CR-V. We...

An improvement over an already great SUV.

by cristianv
Mar 24 '02 - Updated Aug 24 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great value, generous interior and cargo space, solid brake system, legendary Honda quality.
Cons: Limited passenger leg/foot room.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a great city ride, that will handle well in severe weather conditions, this is the SUV to get. Offroaders look elsewhere.

MODEL: 2002 CR-V EX 4x4 , 5 speed manual, US model.

RIDE: 8/10
I found that the ride in this vehicle is nice and smooth on well paved roads. On poorly paved roads, it can get rather bumpy. I can best describe this car as having a solid...

CR-V is simply the best in it's class

by alexaks
Oct 11 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Rear legroom, cargo space, reclining rear seats, radio/CD changer, low engine noise, small turning radius.
Cons: Front leg/foot room, front seat armrests, road noise on rough roads, dull handling
The Bottom Line: Do your price/options research before you go for the CR-V test drive since you probably will buy one.

Five days ago I finally picked up my (read: my wife’s) Honda CR-V EX 2002. These five days were very hectic for me, so I got to drive the CR-V a lot (500 miles). I drove it on both highway and local roads, so I got to know the CR-V (I call it V)...

Excellent Compact SUV

by anthwo
Jan 28 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Powerful engine, very spacious, good controls layout, high seating position, very responsive and good handling.
Cons: Suspension too soft for rough roads. Initial mpg looks disappointing. No automatic door locks.
The Bottom Line: It is a practical SUV for a small family, stronger, stable and rides like a car, lots of room and cargo space, more engine power and has every convenience included.

The new 2002 Honda CR-V is excellent and even better than the old model. It has more cargo room, more passenger room and feels very spacious even from the driver's seat. It has a new 2.4L VTEC engine producing 160HP and is more powerful and responsive...

Pros: Workmanship, Quiet Ride, Roomy
Cons: Pedals too close together
The Bottom Line: Feel free to compare with anything else out there. You won't be disappointed with the CR-V.

Well, I must admit that used this site quite extensively when my wife and I started searching for our new car and I found it to be an invaluable source of information. Thus, I decided to try and do my part to help someone else with their next purchase....

My new truck, the perfect fit

by hzoi
Mar 21 '02 - Updated May 07 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Basically everything I was looking for.
Cons: Tire selection is a bit limited for off-pavement driving.
The Bottom Line: This SUV is great for the rough road conditions my Accord couldn't handle, and it performs better on the road. Awesome ride.

I live in southern Arizona, and I do a lot of driving on rough mountain roads. I moved out here with a 1995 Accord, which I proceeded to beat up on these roads. After some thought, I started to look at 4WD SUVs that were designed to do the driving I...
