Whiners take a hike

by fareyes

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Race car characteristics, fun factor of driving, sexy as hell, reliability of a Honda
Cons: The car is not for everyone, not practical.
The Bottom Line: This car is targeted to a specific audience. Think of it almost as a sports bike in convertible form. If you wouldn't own one of those, forget about it.

I've had this car for about two and a half years now, and I am absolutely in love with it. This car is not for the weak of heart. This car is not for those with back problems. This car is not for those who wish to be practical. This car is not ...

Jekyll and Hyde - Nothing in-between - Update (4/05)

by kjgood
May 07 '02 - Updated Apr 01 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Superb, razor-sharp handling & balance, solid and well-built, excellent performance with good fuel mileage
Cons: Peaky powerband, poor interior storage space, limited gauges and weird tach/speedo setup
The Bottom Line: Not for everyone as a usable daily car. Either be prepared for its extreme nature, or buy it as an occasional-use toy for your race-car driver reveries.

Two test drives in this maddeningly close-but-no-cigar car left me wondering what Honda was thinking about. First, the positives: it handles like an intuitive extension of your body, with perfect balance and tremendous grip/response. It appears to be ...

A great toy

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: speed, handling, looks, value, engine
Cons: size, storage
The Bottom Line: This car is not a family car and its not for everyone but its the most fun thing you will ever drive.

Ok, I won't even mention the specs on this car, b/c Im too tired of reading them in the other review. I have known about this car since July of 99 and finally sat in one when it hit the dealerships in Sept of 99. Being in college at the time, I ...

Thank goodness It's Not A Family Car

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Handles like a slot car. The fuel economy is respectable.
Cons: Can't hear the radio when cruising with the top down.
The Bottom Line: Look for the long and winding road. In my case. it was a mid-life crisis that was worth the wait. This is my stress relief.

I am grateful it's not a family car. I purchased mine from a couple that was expecting their family and had to part with it. I drive it daily for business and expect to put 30K per year on it. It's a Honda so I am counting on reliability. My gas ...

Changes in the s2000 for 2002

by levy_jay
Jan 14 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Save thousands over a Porsche or BMW, 240 hp 4cyl. Honda reliability.
Cons: dealer price gouging, radio still is subpar.
The Bottom Line: If you want a roadster, this is the car for you, just avoid those greedy dealers marking them up, ebay is a source of great deals on this car.

I'm not going to rehash everything already mentioned about this car, I'm just going to talk about the changes for the 2002 models. Honda has finally changed the rear window to glass from plastic , which was the biggest complaint about this car. Another...

Good, but not at any price.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good handling, nice peak power. Nice exhaust note.
Cons: Price gouging, camelhump powerband, limited aftermarket, corvette only a little more expensive in CA.
The Bottom Line: This car is a great idea and I wish i could have one. Unfortunately, dealers know how high the demand is and arent exactly giving them away.

I basically like the S2000. Ive driven against them and Ive driven in them and I have to say that the suspension is taut and the chassis is really stiff. The car is controllable and very fast through the corners. The engine is also really strong in the...

So happy I bought my S2000

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Awesome handling. Surreal power above 6K RPM. A joy to drive.
Cons: You've heard it before....the radio is very sub-par.
The Bottom Line: A street version of a race car built to bring smiles to those who love to DRIVE!!

I felt compelled to write this review, because before buying my 2002 S2000 (Grand Prix White w/Red interior), I spent many hours reading reviews of 2 seat convertibles on Epinons. So if you're considering buying one, I hope my review will help you in...

If given a second chance... I would buy it again.

Aug 06 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Reliability, precise handling, body structure (does NOT flex like most convertibles)
Cons: Stereo. I wish the boot for top was integrated. OEM tire wear and cost.
The Bottom Line: If this car suits you and your lifestyle, buy it. The only reason not to would be it's bland Honda styling.

I had no intention of buying an S2000, I thought and still think they're very bland looking cars. I ...

An F1 race car for the street!

by redcell7
Dec 16 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very fast
Cons: Tight room
The Bottom Line: An excellent road car. I feel like an F1 driver every time I "push" the start button.

Here it goes:

I've owned this S2000 since June of 2002. I paid $49,000 Canadian (equal to the $32,000 MSRP for the U.S.) and it's worth it. It's no exaggeration when people have described this car as a go-cart on tracks. You point, you drive....

Honda's Sports Car Get's an Upgrade..Or is it an Upgrade?

by speedykangaroo
May 28 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Speed, POWER, Handling, and Fun!
Cons: Impractical Family Car, Pure Sports Car (TOO Pure)
The Bottom Line: A fairly priced car with an extremly high fun value and a sporty look. However, it is fairly impractical and is too spiced up with "tachno gizmos."

The S2000. It's flashy and it's fast, but it's never really fit into any category. If you're looking for something fast and powerful, you look towards Porsche and Audi. If you want a family car, you head towards Honda and Volvo. I would have thought...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: looks, race car quality, v tec,.......
Cons: room for passenger, stereo, no extras, only things that are needed to drive
The Bottom Line: Cheap Thrill !!!!!!--- and well worth it!!!!

alright im not going to get into the whole car, that would take wayyy too long, but the car is simply stunning, i'm sure youve noticed that and that probibly one of the reasons your looking at this review, another reason why you might be looking at this ...

Know what you are buying

by eternal512
Dec 29 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great Handling. Honda Reliability
Cons: No Torque, Looks Like a Miata.
The Bottom Line: This car is great if you want a specialty kinda car. Not great if you want a comfortable average car.

The thing about the S2k is that it 'is-what-it-is'. This car handles _awesome_ at the track. It's so intuitive and natural (until you fully break the back end loose, then it tends to want to fishtail) on the track. It's also pretty fast once you get ...

Dependable excitement

by davemedsker
Mar 20 '08

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Timeless looks, fun power, comfort and dependability
Cons: Every con comes with a pro i.e. no trunk, poor mileage etc.
The Bottom Line: I love this car. LOVE. I would send it birthday cards if it cared. I think about what I would trade it for...nothing!

It seems that the more fun a car is the more problems it will have, the two effects are directly correlated in my experience. I sold my Boxster and bought the S2000 after searching over 200 cars in three months. I wanted the 9000 rpm redline, a silver ...

Oct 30 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: 120 hp per liter, most power thats naturally aspirated. flawless feel. awesome value.
Cons: well the 16 inch wheels could be 17(which they have done for 04')
The Bottom Line: an excellent car, has made me an import believer.

let me start by saying i used to hate hondas. not any particuar reason, maybe because i drive a classic corvette. maybe i didnt like the kids (i say kids but i am 23) acting like a 140 hp car was fast and loading it up w/ a lawnmower exhaust and sticker ...

honda 2002 S2000

by imbtmn
Feb 23 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: amazing handling, powerband at 6000 rpms and up is awesome!!
Cons: sound system still lacking.........
The Bottom Line: I would have to say if you're in the market for a sports car in the 30-50,000 range this car should be given serious consideration. then ENJOY!

To start I will say I'm not a huge car enthusiest. I generally drive trucks and motorcycles. after deciding on purchasing a convertible sports car and then taking too many test drives.......I decided on the S2000. This car has completely changed my...
