Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Interior, Exterior, Warranty, Price.
Cons: ABS is only optional, Base engine.
The Bottom Line: Mechanically not the V6 Accord or Camry's match, but with a lower price, tons of standard equipment, the 2002 Sonata GLS V6 is recommended 100%.

Since the Hyundai Sonata's infamous introduction in the '80s one would think this car would have been dropped long, long ago, but alas it is now 2002 and the Hyundai Sonata is not only still here, it is better than ever. The 2002 Sonata competes very...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great Ride, Lots of Features, Low Price
Cons: V6 could use more power
The Bottom Line: One of the best bargains on the road, the 2002 Sonata should be on anyone's list when shopping for mid-size sedans. Luxury beyond its price!

These are truly the glory day of automobiles. Today’s cars are more powerful, faster, safer, better built and better looking than ever before. Even the highly touted muscle cars of the 50s and 60s can’t hold a candle to modern passenger cars in terms of...

Pros: roomy, quiet, good to look at, low maintenance
Cons: could use a little more pick up
The Bottom Line: Great car for the basics and a little beyond. Details make the difference!

Okay, so I bought this vehicle when I was broke and after my ex husband turned my previous car (Mercury Tracer) into a high maintenance hunk of junk. Sorry all Ford Motor products, you'll never see me again!

I did as much research as I could...

Oct 10 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Handling, comfort, quality of interior design and finish. Almost a "driver's" car.
Cons: Mileage on the V6 not great. Engine noise louder than I would like.
The Bottom Line: One of the best in almost any respect.

After reading reviews on this board I bought a V6 Sonata used from Hertz (an excellent source of quality, fairly priced used cars) with 24,000 miles on it for $11,500. My first impression on the test drive was that this was a serious, well-designed and ...

Pros: Handling, warranty, looks, price
Cons: ? Perhaps the traditional antenna needs to go.
The Bottom Line: Take it out for a drive, if you like what it looks like and how it drives chances are you'll love this car.

I purchased my Hyundai Sonata in July of 2002. Someone smashed my 1997 Toyota Camry while it was parked on the street and I needed to replace it. Being Toyota faithful it was difficult to consider a Korean made product. As I shopped around for what my ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Affordability, style, performance
Cons: none?
The Bottom Line: Hyundai has greatly improved on their quality in cars and backs them with the best warranty. Price+looks+warranty=a great car!

I was in the market for a new, dependable car at the end of 2001. I had to find something affordable, though, because I had a large rollover of negative equity in my trade-in. I loved the new line of body styles that Hyundai was coming out with. The...

Apr 15 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Quiet, comfortable, feature-laden, stately appearance
Cons: Highly unreliable
The Bottom Line: Absolutely avoid this car. It will be great for the first year or so, but after that Hyundai's fall apart.

I purchased a 2002 Hyundai Sonata GLX approximately a year and a half ago. For the first six months, I was impressed - a very smart vehicle, good looking, quiet and stately. After the first six months, that's when the problems started to surface. ...
