2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 3.7L

by
Aug 10, 2011 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Offroad capability, stylish interior, cargo room, stout 3.7L V6 option
Cons: GAS HOG!!, cheap quality wheels, no compartments
The Bottom Line:

This vehicle offers both interior comfort and stylish looks while still giving you offroad capabilities.  3.7L is a must, but you sacrifice gas for power.

I bought this vehicle about a month ago as I needed something bigger to take all of my stuff 400 miles to college.  I also wanted something that would be safe when I came home in the winter time.  I was originally thinking of getting a truck, ... read more

Pros: V6 power, visibility, features ,nice package size compromise over competitors models.
Cons: Mpg is low, small backseats if you have kids in carseats.

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfort, Looks, 4x4 is spectacular, reliability
Cons: gas mileage (~20mpg overall), oil filter location
The Bottom Line: It rides high and a little loud from the tires, but it's a smooth ride. It has been extremely reliable and fun to drive!

So i have nothing but praise for my 02 Jeep Liberty Limited. We've got 108,000 miles on it and have never had to fix one thing on this Jeep (as compared to our other car ...a Ford). I've even been somewhat lax in its regular maintenance and it has been ... read more

by
Jan 21, 2007 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: looks good, reliable, build quality, great off-roader, good towing capacity
Cons: fuel economy (17.5 mpg average) not great, but that's expected with a true SUV.
The Bottom Line: I can definately recommend based on my experience with mine. 5 years, 100,200 miles almost completely trouble free.

I bought my '02 Liberty (Limited) new in Fall 2001. Since then, our family has driven it nearly every single day for 5 years with only two issues that required repair -- both occuring in year number 4 after more than 90,000 trouble-free miles. One was ... read more

Not Your Grandfather's Jeep

by
Dec 14, 2005 - Updated Dec 4, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Solid, dependable SUV with good performance and Jeep toughness.
Cons: Rear gate can be awkward, overhead trip computer display is too bright at night.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a small SUV, consider the Jeep Liberty. It's tough, good-looking, and fun to drive.

When my wife decided she wanted a new vehicle, she knew she wanted a small SUV. She likes the great road view of an SUV, but did not want one too large (hard to maneuver and gas hogs). We originally looked at the Honda CRV and Hyundai Santa Fe, but were ... read more

I've owned my Liberty Limited 4X4 for about 2 1/2 years. It's been trouble free for 30000 miles, but that doesn't mean there haven’t been some major disappointments during that time. Most notable is the abysmal gas mileage. My running total MPG ... read more

Pros: Headroom, smooth 4x4, off-road performance, front seats, rock solid
Cons: Sways in high wind, gas mileage
The Bottom Line: If this car averaged 25mph I would recommend it to anyone. As it is, you need to be prepared for the cost of gas in these uncertain times.

After I purchased my Libby I immediately took off for a 9,000 mile X country adventure post 911. This vehicle did everything. I went off-roading in Colorado, drove 80 miles/hour up I/95 in North Carolina, Blurred through Branson, parallel parked in ... read more

The Bottom Line: Over all, if you're looking for a comfortable larger than car size ride, and you can't afford that Lexus yet, the Liberty may be for you.

This is my first SUV. I have had it for 8 months now. I tested many small SUV,s before making my choice. Bottom line, it fits my needs. The RAV 4 was too small. I'm a big guy. It has a comfortable front seat, easy to get in and out of, (just got ... read more

Pros: Cool styling, high seating position, good ground clearance.
Cons: Very, very noisy, uncomfortable, poor fuel economy, rattles.
The Bottom Line: Avoid it. An okay vehicle in a field of very good ones, the Liberty is disappointing overall.

I recently was "upgraded" from a Camry to a Liberty for a two-week long business trip during which I drove the Jeep for 2000 miles. I was at first very excited to drive the Jeep; I saw it as a nice break from soul-less mid-sized rental cars and figured ... read more
