Pros: Versatile interior, more nimble than larger minivans Cons: Less roomy than larger minivans The Bottom Line: Compact van without compact price. Slightly sharper handling not enough to make up for tight second and third row for most buyers.
If you've read some of my other reviews, you might know I'm going to be facing a transportation crisis in six months to a year. #3 child is due in November. A booster seat, toddler seat, and infant carrier can only fit in the back seat of my current car, ...

Pros: Changeable 2nd and 3rd row seats, real windows on sliding doors Cons: LOUD alarm and low gas mileage (like all mini-vans) The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a safe and reliable family mini van this is it! With a wonderful sound system, changeable seats and side air bags too!
We bought two new cars within a week of each other. The first was the Saturn SL1 which is used for errands and outings where 5 or less of us are going. We are VERY happy with that choice.
The other car is our family car, the...

Pros: Side windows go down, Versatile Interior, Smaller than other vans Cons: Smaller than other vans, ES is Expensive, The Bottom Line: An average minivan turns better than average when one considers the well thought out interior. A good-looking van, but the ES is a little pricey for what you get.
Minivans are big business. Chrysler produced the first minivan in 1984, and virtually every other automaker followed suit (As a side note, I will admit upon viewing and riding in the first Dodge Caravan, I did not fully grasp that vehicle’s significance....

Pros: Economic, great performance, great handling, good features Cons: Poor sound, excessive wind noise, strange dashboard arrangement The Bottom Line: Don't miss a test drive. It has enough features to be worth a look. How much the glitches bother you is up to you.
Having owned my '02 Mazda MPV for 2 years now, I think I'm qualified to make some comments. The car has a leg up on much of the competition in the minivan market. It handles like a sedan, and is a very welcome change when it comes to other vans that ...

Pros: Styling, Interior, features, engine pep, smooth powertrain Cons: Gas mpg, stability in wind, stereo, driver's arm comfort, 5-sp tranny (too hilly here) The Bottom Line: Wife loves it unconditionally, I have some reservations but it's hers. Hindsight says we might have looked at some more models but still likely would have bought it.
We purchased our '03 MPV new. It's relatively loaded up - towing pkg, 4 seasons, sunroof... We've liked the interior arrangement, features, and flexibility since it was redone in 2000. However the addition of the larger engine in 2002 was the icing on ...

Pros: Great Handling, Flexible seating, Magic Rear Seat, Smooth Ride, LATCH connectors Cons: Sulfur smell, I want 30 MPG, Add door lock to passenger side The Bottom Line: This is a great minivan with much more interior space than the exterior would have you realize.
My wife and I were those people who thought they would never drive a mini-van (well more my wife than I). With 2 young children under 3, the family sedan (Accord) was running out of space with 2 carseats + all the other stuff that babies require...

Pros: Small on the outside, big on the inside, great price per feature ratio. Cons: Very few, mostly preference issues on design (see review). The Bottom Line: I cannot recommend this minivan enough. It is the perfect combination of small outside but larger inside, and compares or exceeds other minivans like the Honda, Toyota, Chrysler, etc.
Before getting into specifics about this minivan, I want to emphasize that I am fairly anti-minivan. I do not like the way most of them look, most of them are pretty much the same thing with a different symbol on the front grill, and let us be honest...

Pros: "Right-sized" minivan, power windows in sliding doors Cons: stereo lacking The Bottom Line: If you need the space of a longer wheelbase minivan, look elsewhere. If you are looking for the best small minivan, you've found it in the Mazda MPV.
Let me start off and say I am not a minivan kind of guy. However, minivans are a practical family vehicle.
Exterior
As far as minivans go, the MPV is a looker even without the optional packages that add the rear spoiler, or...

Pros: Drives well, very easy to adjust seats, quadruple 5 star safety rating Cons: Gear shift handle too big, small size, uncomfortable driver's seat The Bottom Line: Great drive, easy seating conversion, and quadruple 5 star safety rating are a few reason to consider the MPV if you're willing to sacrifice some space.
There were two models I considered when I decided to purchase a minivan, the Honda Odyssey and the Mazda MPV. The reason was that at the time of this writing, those two models were the only ones that allowed the 3rd row of seats to be completely stowed,...

Pros: Unbeatable price/feature ratio. Great acceleration, incredible sport scar like handling and smooth 5 speed transmission. Cons: None really. Gearshift can obscure stereo controls on dash. Simply use controls on steering wheel. The Bottom Line: The 2002 Mazda MPV beats the Honda Odyssey when comparing feature to price ratio, sportier looks to match its sporty handling, and a great safety rating.
After over a year worth of research and with one new addition to the family, we finally caved and bought a mini-van for more much needed room and convenience. We were seriously looking at the Honda Odyssey simply because of its popularity and...

Pros: Smooth ride, powerful engine, rear windows roll down. Cons: Small trunk space if all seven seats in use. The Bottom Line: If you don't need the largest of the minivans, and you want to drive something resembling a car that will seat 7, this is the one for you.
I had never driven a van in my life, but with three kids, the time had come to graduate from my Subaru Legacy wagon. I test drove the Toyota Sienna and was intimidated by it; the Honda Odyssey would barely fit in our garage; and so I moved on to one of...

Pros: Smooth Ride. Great Power. Adjustable seating. Cons: Can not clearly see Air controls while driving. Back door hard to shut. The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this van especially if you can get a great price. I expect to keep this vehicle close to ten years.
I purchased the Mazda MPV Minivan two weeks ago and am very impressed. I traded in a 95 Nissan Sentra when I learned that my wife and I are expecting our second child.
I looked at many reviews before buying. I was leaning towards a Sante Fe...

Pros: Superb Handling, Peppy 6-cylinder gets fair mileage, very user friendly dash / interior Cons: Not super-roomy, rear seat not the most comfortable for adults on long trips The Bottom Line: For the money, the ride, the non-minivan feel, the MPV deserves a hard look. Clean lines and interior are worthy of much more costly imports.
I think it's fair to begin by saying that we did not purchase this vehicle new, so we were aware of the MPV's features and shortcomings before plunking down a check. However, we have found that the "cons" are extremely minor compared to the pleasure of ...

Pros: 4-7 people adjustable seating; good stereo system
Cons: Uncomfortable driver's seat;
Automatic door and window lock only on driver's side The Bottom Line: This is a very good family car especially for long road trips. There might be a few annoyances, but overall it is a comfortable and very reliable car.
The 2002 Mazda MPV LX is a very practical car. It could seat up to 7 people and the back seat folds down onto the car so you don't have to worry about taking the back seat out to make room for cargo space. It has dual sliding doors and the large windows...

Pros: Powerful, MPG, nimble, towing capacity, braking feel, prices, cornering, features, removable seats, look. Cons: The wheel-well gap is kind of high, lower it. Bigger sun visors for front windows. The Bottom Line: I have test-driven other minivans or sat in other relatives minivans. I've found that the MPV is the king of minivans when it comes to driving fun in a van.
I had test-driven other minivans including 2003 Sienna and Odyssey before making up my decision. The Odyssey is "odd" in driving experience. I couldn't tell if it was hitting a bump, I felt so isolated; it felt just like sitting in anyone's grand-dad's ...
