Very nice car, but expensive repairs ruins the overall experience.

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Quiet, comfortable ride, sportiness, hatchback is huge and great for hauling large loads, appearance.
Cons: Repairs are too frequent and expensive, side mirrors are too small, rear visibility isn't good.
The Bottom Line: It really depends on your priorities. I highly recommend it if you want a nice-looking, nice-driving, near-lux sports car with cargo capacity, and have a good mechanic.

My fiance bought her C230 Coupe brand new at the end of the model year, and I've spent many hours in it with her. On the positive side: 1) Very nice-looking car. 2) Ride is smooth and quiet. 3) Engine is very powerful when the blower kicks in ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: drives very well, responsive, good hold of the road, safety (10 airbags).
Cons: not reliable, too many plastic parts that break, too expensive to maintain.
The Bottom Line: It drives like a Mercedes but it does not last like one. Before you buy, check out this web site: http://www.mercedes-benz-usa.com/c_class.php

I own a 2002 C230 Coupe Kompressor, 4 cylinders A/T for five years, approaching the 100K miles. This car IS fun to drive, when it drives. We use the car mostly for commuting, and never offroad. Here is what I can pull from the top of my head : - ... read more

Sep 19, 2006 - Updated Sep 22, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: performance, ride, exclusivity, practicality
Cons: gas mileage, expensive to fix, trying to find one!
The Bottom Line: If you want the best of everything, this is your car. Performance, cache', luxury, exclusivity and practicality all in one package.

This is a review of the 2002 E55 AMG sedan. Although it shares the same basic structure as the standard E class, it is a totally different car. The performance is worlds apart from standard Mercedes sedans, and is really more into supercar territory. ... read more

Tried hard to love it

by
Aug 26, 2006 - Updated Sep 4, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Like a tank.
Cons: Needs maintenance like a tank.
The Bottom Line: Like a hot girlfriend with serious issues. I would advise my friends to avoid it, but somehow I keep coming back.

I have a G55. IMHO, this is the best looking SUV on the market. The G-class from Mercedes, together probably with the landcruiser and some of the range rovers, can be distinguished from the other SUVs on the market in that this was a car designed to ... read more

C320 Estate

by
Mar 4, 2006 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fast, nimble, and stylish
Cons: Smaller than you think
The Bottom Line: I would definitely consider this vehicle if you are looking for a stylish wagon, but get a StarMark certified car from a dealer

The 2002 Mercedes Benz C320 wagon is a fascinating car. Reports of its reliability are well documented as being sub par. A lot of it has to do with its initial price and placement in the pantheon of cars that are on the road. Mercedes as a whole are ... read more

Luxurious SUV

Feb 12, 2006 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Its a Mercedes, leather, heated seats, awesome interior.
Cons: Gas mileage, poor salesmanship on specifics.
The Bottom Line: Great vehicle if you can get beyond the gas mileage. Everything was A concerning the actual vehicle.

I always wanted a Mercedes. It was between this Model and C-class. Should of gone with the C only because of the terrible gas mileage. I leased this in 2002 and traded it in only a year later. This was wonderful, interior was fabulous. Leather, ... read more

2003 ML500 - It's much more than you think

by
Dec 2, 2004 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Powerful engine, strong brakes, nav system, rain-sensing wipers, comfortable interior.
Cons: Stereo controls on the steering wheel are missing, inconvenient placing of the volume control knob.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a used luxury car, the ML500 will give you more for your money than the X5.

My father was looking to buy a used (2002 - 2003) luxury SUV. Our choices were BMW X5 or ML 500. Although the X5 vs. ML500 is a comparison done by many reviewers, there is one very imprtant aspect missing. They all compare the ML500 to the X5 4.4i. ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: looks, fuel economy for power, nice drive
Cons: electronic, electronic, electronic
The Bottom Line: Improve the electronics and you would have a great car.

If it were not for the pricey service and the atrocious electronics I would highly recommend. I have not had any mechanical problems and I have 55000 miles so far. I do quite a bit of highway driving and get up to 34 mile per gallon per trip but average ... read more

C240 - You too can afford a sporty Mercedes!

by
Jan 5, 2004 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Stylish, gadgets, quality, value, lifetime roadside assistance.
Cons: CD not stock & changer hogs glovebox, a little under-powered, no 12v accessory plugs
The Bottom Line: I was a Volvo driver but got quickly turned off a new one after driving the S60. The C240 was less expensive and MUCH nicer inside.

I never though I would own a Mercedes- I always though they were big, expensive sedans for old people, but I am incredibly happy with my C240 sedan. The C240 is A LOT of car for the money. The onboard computer is amazing. Based on your unique key, ... read more

Nov 23, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Interior styling, great coffee in the waiting room of my dealership
Cons: Reliability, rattles, dealership service people aren't properly trained
The Bottom Line: Avoid. The problems aren't worth what you might consider prestige of driving the Mercedes. Looks at Lexus or Infiniti or Acura instead.

Executive Summary Biggest disappointment in the 20 years I have ever owned a car. It's a nice looking vehicle but reliability issues will keep you grounded. I don't write too many of these reviews but wanted to post a warning to anyone considering the ... read more

Jul 13, 2003 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Bulletproof engines and transmissions (up to 250,000 miles). Tows 5000 lbs w/ no problems.
Cons: Body on frame vehicle: don't compare it to the Lexus mini-van RX330.
The Bottom Line: Tons of upgrades make this a true winner. 2003 and 2004 remain the same, but 2005 will be a big change.

This is still a great vehicle, despite some problems with the 1998 and 1999 models (I had the 1998 a ... read more

Pros: Mercedes built sporty coupe that can take on any Acura RSX or Toyota Celica.
Cons: None really.
The Bottom Line: The cheapest Mercedes is a steal!

Terrible quality of ML320

by
Jan 1, 2003 - Updated Jan 3, 2003 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: The car is safe, but it is not a Mercedes-Benz
Cons: Terrible quality of ML320
The Bottom Line: If you want to spend ~ $47.000, think twice…or try to get the car from Germany

Before you start thinking about ML320 2002 Mercedes-Benz SUV you must know about a quality of this car. This car is NOT from the GERMANY! And, compare to the E320 I ordered and still driving a couple years ago directly from Europe – this is a reason. ... read more

Pros: Acceleration, Comfort, Engineering
Cons: Not as luxurious as one would expect from a Mercedes.
The Bottom Line: A value-packed entry level Mercedes that is incredibly fun to drive yet won't break the bank.

I own the 2003 model. I have been driving the C230 for eight months now and it is definitely one of the most fun cars to drive. It is equipped with Auto, leather seating, CD changer, xenon headlights, dual sunroofs and heated seats. The 2002 model ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great price - and the quality of a Mercedes Benz.
Cons: Some basic options are not included in the base model (CD player, leather).
The Bottom Line: It's a great deal for the price. Just don't save on options, they are worth it!

I've owned this car since August 2002. It's a great mix between a sportcar and a luxury vehicle. While it drives and handles like a sportcar, the inside in roomy and comfortable. Four people can easily fit into this car. Even the trunk is a decent size ... read more

Pros: Classy look of more expensive Mercedes and great driving comfort.
Cons: Overpriced options, weak sound system and tight rear seating.

Pros: Originality, smooooth ride, SAFETY, exclusivity, the works.
Cons: gas mileage, but, who cares?
The Bottom Line: Bottom line: Life is too short. Go large!

This has to be hands down the best luxury SUV on the market. The interior is so posh, the exterior looks like a Hummer in a tuxedo. What more could you ask? At US$73,500 base, that's $60,000 OFF what it was 4 years ago and US$40,000 OFF 2 years ago ... read more

Good Design, Bad Workmanship

Jun 10, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Drive, Ride, Design, looks
Cons: Workmanship, workmanship, workmanship, Rattles, Materials
The Bottom Line: A $45,000 CHRYSLER (a company that kick the bucket a few years back)

The ride is excellent, seats are comfortable, rattle more than it should for a Mercedes or for any car for that matter. It is NOT a Mercedes by any stress of the imagination. It is, in my opinion, a CHRYSLER, and if my memory serve me right, ... read more
