2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse

by
Jul 5, 2009 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: *Attractiveness
*Slow acceleration for sporty car
*Extremely low problems from actual car
Cons: *Little backseat room for those who need it
*Slow acceleration for those who want fast
The Bottom Line:

I would buy this car again. It is literally trouble free and compared to other sporty cars, gives you good gas mileage and an attractive ride.

I bought my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse at a reduced car auction four years ago. The previous owner had gotten the car repossessed, so it was reduced because of circumstances and not problems with the ride. I fell in love immediately with the beauty ... read more

I love my 2002 2.4L 4-Cyl Eclipse!

by
Jul 9, 2007 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Rides smooth, handles well, stereo system w/cd player comes factory, comfortable seats and interior.
Cons: Small back seat, not as much power as I'd like
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car for people without a family. It's not really a family car by any means.

I have the 2002 spyder eclipse model. It looks very nice however, I believe that if I'd have had more time to look for a car I would've bought one with a 6-cyl engine instead. I have the trans shift which is also a fun feature but for those who like to ... read more

A reliable and nice looking Sports car with some negatives

by
Mar 16, 2005 - Updated Jul 15, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: 25-28mpg with V6 and fairly aggressive driving, no maintenance problems, looks great,
Cons: wide turn radius, heavy car, poor visibility with top up, plastic insides, only decent handling
The Bottom Line: If you are single and want a hot car with little trouble, this is a great car. Not practical otherwise. Fits my 6'4" comfortably, other sports cars I tested didn't.

July 15, 2005 78,000 mile update: Well, I just got my car back from my first major service on my car. The AC started acting up where it wouldn't work about 15-20% of the time. Turns out 4 parts had gone bad and the total repair was $1600 ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: ABS, V6, Handles well! Sweet Interior.
Cons: Rear window, cramped backseat, automatic trunk unlock
The Bottom Line: Would recommend

I got my Mitsu Eclipse Spyder GT a few years ago (when it was brand new). Although the salesman didn't knock a dime off, and I wound up paying full price for the car, only because he knew I was in love with it! It made it harder when he told me to take ... read more

Great convertible

by
Feb 26, 2003 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great looks. Easy top. Glass rear window.
Cons: Wind buffeting at speed.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a performance convertible, then 200 hp might not be enough for you. But if you're looking for a well rounded car, then here it is.

I bought mine new, and i have to say that i really like the car. Sure it does not have all the power in the world, but it is not supposed to. 200 hp is fine. Comfort is good. Ease of operation of the controls in the interior, and driveability are ... read more

My New 2002 Eclipse Spyder GS

by
Jun 29, 2002 - Updated Jun 30, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Zesty, sharp, and a looker!!! Feel like a million bucks!
Cons: The boot comes off at high speeds if not fastened correctly. Small back window.
The Bottom Line: Buy it and you wont regret a damn thing....

I bought the GS as opposed to the GT for insurance cost purposes only. Im sure I would have liked the GT, but Im watching my money. That is another reason why I bought the Eclipse Spyder. I wanted something that looked sharp yet not kill my wallet. Im a ... read more

2002 Eclipse - Like a two door Grand AM..

by
Jun 12, 2002 - Updated Jul 5, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Transmission, Tons of options, Interior
Cons: Fuel economy, V6 could use more power, ABS is only optional
The Bottom Line: Although more power would have been welcomed, this car is recommend for anyone looking for a stylish car with good performance.

Since the 3000GT and the dearly missed '3000GT Vr4' are now out of Mitsubishi's sport car line-up, Mitsubishi relies solely on the Eclipse to be its flagship sports coupe/convertible, at least for now. The 2002 Eclipse is not exactly boring, ... read more

Great Convertible V6

by
Apr 15, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Beautiful car, drives well, gorgeous features, V6-GT Spyder Excellent choice.
Cons: Top on rear window blind spot, pricy.
The Bottom Line: Buy the car...it's beautiful, handles well and is affordable...not like BMW that is $50-$65000, ripoff.

I bought the V6-GT Spyder brand spanking new with only 35miles. Its a beautiful car inside and out. The top goes down and back up automatically and fits to the tee with no leaks. The car handles well; although, I am not racing the car, just for summer ... read more

Luxury/Sports car

by
Mar 20, 2002 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very Comfortable, Luxury feel, a touch of sports car.
Cons: Pick up is average. Forget tight U-Turns.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car if you are looking for a quick comfortable cruiser.

After coming out of a 1998 Ford ZX2, this is definitely a step up. The car is very quiet and smooth. Something I was not expecting in a sports car, but not necessarily a bad thing. You can forget about tight U-turns in the Eclipse, something that I ... read more

Quantity not Quality

by
Mar 6, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: The exterior/interior of the car is sharp!
Cons: This car is hard to keep up!!!
The Bottom Line: This car was built for looks, not performance!

I have this car and when I bought it I was very happy with what I paid for. The car's exterior is very unique and the interior as well. The ultra-sporty look that the car is given adds to its appeal. The problem is, when they made this car, they made it ... read more

My new baby

by
Feb 28, 2002 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Beautiful car. Smooth ride.
Cons: When the temperature outside is below freezing, the windows freeze shut.
The Bottom Line: This is a fun car to drive.

Let me start this review by saying that I may be slightly biased in my views about the Spyder because I have been wanting one for so long. I've been researching and test driving this car for about 3 years. When I bought this car, I traded in my old ... read more

I love it!

by
Jan 13, 2002 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very Solid, Excellent Handling
Cons: Interior attracts lint
The Bottom Line: I would buy another one if anything happened to this one.

I bought a 2002 Eclipse because I had a 1992 V4 RS that I had to get rid of due to the birth of my daughter. Now that she no longer requires attention while I'm having to manually shift gears, I have me another one. I found the V6 GT to be A LOT tighter ... read more

Smooth cruiser

by
Jan 7, 2002 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Civilised convertible, decent performance, good looks, a bit of luxury
Cons: Poor steering, body flexibility, not really a sports car
The Bottom Line: Buy this car to cruise around in the sun, but don't expect real sports car performance or handling. Practical for a couple of people, a weekend's luggage, and kids.

I'm quite a big fan of convertibles and always take the chance to drive them. The Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Spyder got about 1,000 miles over a couple of weeks, top up and top down. Similar cars I have owned are a 1991 Eclipse GSX, 1996 BMW Z3, and 2000 ... read more

A "GT" in the classic mould...

by
Dec 6, 2001 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: Solid feel; Pleasant Interior; Looks
Cons: Lack of sportiness; interior room; build quality; no VR4 option
The Bottom Line: A GT in the classic mould, it's a great car for straight lines and wide open spaces. But it's not even slightly a "sports car".

Drivers who remember the hard-core appeal of the GS-X AWD Diamond-Star Eclipse, be warned. It's not even close. The new Eclipse GT continues the Galant-platform front-wheel drive coupe' ethos of the Eclipse, but without any real sporting ... read more
