Pros: Sleek styling, Loads of standard and optional amenities, 4-wheel ABS Cons: Price, Performance, V8 fuel economy The Bottom Line: If looks were the only thing a car was judged on,the Ls 4- cylinder would be tops, But with next to no performance for 22-24,000 dollars, this car is not recommended.
In 1999 the Mitsubishi Galant was totally redesigned into the sexy, sleek, and lovable looking car that it is today. For the 2002 model year the Galant was given a new front fascia which added a little kick to this already sexy automobile. Although...

Pros: Engine refined for a four, quiet ride Cons: Ugly interior with mismatched low quality pieces, cramped interior The Bottom Line: Ugly, cheap, and cramped, not worth the low price despite the smooth engine and quiet ride.
Ive never thought much of the Mitsubishi Galant, even though it has won a magazine comparison test here and there. Now Ive actually driven a 2002 Galant ES for a few hundred miles. And I think even less of it. Mitsubishi Galant ...

Pros: Small, compact, decent gas mileage Cons: Some road noise The Bottom Line: I would recommend this vehicle for those that do not do a lot of traveling, but want something reliable.
Back in November 2003 when our 1994 Pontiac Sunbird decided to stop working in the middle of the street and we needed a vehicle immediately, we began the search. Our price range was between $8,000-$10,000 and we were pondering a new car or a used car. ...

Pros: Price, standard equipment, low fuel consumption, good handling, no problems Cons: Assembly quality, slight rattles in the cabin, no rear leg space The Bottom Line: I have no complaints about Galant ES other than slight rattle in the cabin and 4 recalls
The 2002 Mitsubishi Galant is not all-new, but slightly restyled model that was in production as 1999, 2000 and 2001 models. I am not sure that restyling of the front fascia, grille and rear lights made it look better.
Disclaimer: I own...

Pros: VERY STYLISH, SPORTY, RELIABLE Cons: RESALE VALUE, COMPARED TO OTHERS IN CLASS, SMALLER The Bottom Line: I completely recommend this auto because it has proved reliable, comfortable, and satisfying. Just don't plan to trade soon after purchase.
I hope this review will be read in full, "especially the transmission and engine" sections. Enjoy! To start off, I would like to thank Mitsubishi for offering the 0-0-0 deal. Many complain that is has ruined/damaged Mitsubishi products and ...

Pros: great sedan overall, good power, and great safety features Cons: back seat not extremely roomy The Bottom Line: I'd recommedn you seriously consider Galant if you want a safe, quiet, comfortable sedan. Not the roomiest of choices, but definitley fewer problems than other sedans in its class.
I purchased a Mitsubishi Galant because I needed another family car... not another Dodge Intrepid mind you; I didn't want a huge tank that had cavernous room, but a smaller sedan that could be used for quick jaunts around town. I had never considered...

Pros: Gorgeous car, sleek design, nice value, reliable so far Cons: brakes are a little squeaky, kind of cheap interior The Bottom Line: Good value, car you'll be happy to be seen in, smooth quiet ride. Very good mid-level car. Perfect for the single gal / couple with no kids.
UPDATE 7/10/08: A little over a year ago I had to give up the Galant. Not because of problems with the car, mind you, but because of finances (long, long story). Anyway, I no longer have it, but I miss it a little every day. I had that car for 5 years ...

Pros: Good gas mileage, lots of room, sleek and sexy, highly affordable, room for upgrades Cons: Interior is too plain, not enough horsepower compared to the six cylinder version, needed upgrades The Bottom Line: I recommend this car for high school and college students for its affordability, high gas mileage and its availability of room.
I bought my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant ES in May of 2007. As a graduating senior in high school, I didnt want anything too expensive, mainly just something to get me around. This is definitely the car for that. This car from Mitsubishi is by far on the ...

Pros: Comfortable, quiet, smooth, Stylish, very well equipped. Cons: Rear seat legroom, no remote fuel release, cheap interior plastic, horrible fuel economy The Bottom Line: A very nice looking car.
Super Quiet, but build-quality not so great. I only recommend in light of the $4000 incentives and correspondingly LOW used prices.
***Original Review*** I just bought my dark gray Galant ES (4 cylinder - no options) this morning after having rented one, many test drives, and a month of research (Edmunds is the best). What I liked was the styling, ride quality, smoothness and the ...

Pros: Good mpg's, reliable, safe, easy to maintain, and very dependable and durable. Cons: No support handles, a/c a lil weak in vegas temps, backseat a lil small The Bottom Line: Very Reliable sedan, mitsu did a great job with this 8th gen G.
** 7/16/09 Update** Wow, its been almost 2 years since my last review, and I still have my Galant. I went ahead and had my transmission replaced, intake manifold and new motor mounts done @ the sametime as my transmission went out. My mechanic has ...

Pros: Styling, strong four-cylinder, gas mileage, reliability thus far. Cons: Interior materials, workmanship and interior noise, lack of aftermarket upgrades, resale value. The Bottom Line: If I had the choice again I would have bought a new Accord or a used BMW or other luxury car. Car is more suited to retirement community residents.
When I first saw the 2002 Galant I loved its looks.I am a BMW fan(which I can't afford), so I was already hooked and didn't care about the obvious design theft. I had done some research on the web about Galants and most reviews were in the acceptable...

Pros: Quiet, Roomy, Not flashy or over-powered Cons: Some understeer in defensive situations, Trunk access too small, Inaccurate fuel gauge The Bottom Line: A sensible and practical vehicle that is virtually trouble-free.
I bought the ES model as a Junior in college after driving an '87 Accord for years. The basic features were excellent with standard automatic everything and as a bonus the dealer threw in an ABS package (didn't have the basic in stock). The 4 cylinder ...

Pros: Style, powertrain, value, comfort, fun to drive, reliability Cons: Not so roomy in the rear & trunk, fit & finish, squealing OEM brakes, depreciation The Bottom Line: This car is great for a single or two people, good match for 2 adults and up to 2 kids, only fair match for 4-5 adults. Still recommended.
**Update - February 28, 2006 - 41,100 miles My patriot red metallic Galant ES 4-cylinder has been very dependable, enjoyable, and sensible over the 4 years I have had the pleasure of owning it. My car has garnered 41,100 miles, and its actual age is ...

Pros: Truck space is great, has fog lights, front seats ok Cons: Interior lighting is bad, back seats cramped, front too long, cheap interior, vibrates too much. The Bottom Line: I would HIGHLY recommend that people stay away from the Mitsubishi family. The resale value alone will make you cry when you see that you're stuck.
I thought buying a brand new car would have brought at least relative peace of mind. That fantasy has been shot to hell with me owing a 2002 Galant ES. The radiator blowing on my 1983 Ford Tempo was the last straw that pushed me into the first dealership ...

Pros: Quiet, mostly confortable, power mirrors/windows/doors, very reliable Cons: Partly ugly dash, seats not best for really long trips The Bottom Line: Great buy if looking for affordability, decent looking car, features
Having bought the '02 Galant just less than two years ago, it still performs excellent. The engine and transmission still runs smooth at over 115k miles that is now on it. There's never been any major problems while driving to work everyday and other ...
