Pros: Stylish and powerful. Cons: Won't turn on a dime anymore. The Bottom Line: This Maxima will blow your bottom line away.
You'd think, looking in our driveway, that we own stock in Nissan, or that we are paid spokespersons for them. We are on our third brand new Nissan (That's two Maximas and one Xterra) in eight blissful years of marriage. This review will not be techni ...

Pros: Near-perfect engine; Roomy and comfortable interior; Smooth character Cons: Some build-quality issues; Styling quirks; Disappointing handling. The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to anyone with a moderate budget and an appreciation of its performance.
Buying experience: I bought my 2002 Maxima in April 2006 from what I thought was a reputable dealer. Turns out the car had been in an accident so with only 61k miles on the ODO i had to force them to replace the transmission because it was "flaring" ...

Pros: Power, handling, HID lights, options, reputation, reliability, NISSAN Cons: HID lights, smoking in the car, tranny reputation The Bottom Line: Definitely worth it for the money. The car is on par with much more highly priced cars
2002 Maxima SE... I rented one of these at a car convention in early 2002 and had the car on a track. I was able to see the car in two different worlds... daily driving on the street and lugging people and luggage around as well as high performance ...

Pros: Awesome engine, attractive interior, available with a manual, HID headlights. Cons: Fuel economy, OEM tires, optimistic MPG computer, HID headlights are a target for thieves. The Bottom Line: A fast 4-door daily driver that can embarass other so called sport sedans. A car you buy when the engine is your top priority.
I bought my 2002 Maxima SE 6-speed in late August of 2002. Why I bought it? I wanted a car that can keep up with traffic, and give cocky boy racers a thrashing at will. How I wound up with the Maxima? a test drive of course! But it wasn't an easy...

Pros: Class leading 255 HP 3.5 liter V6. Fit and Finish are stellar. Cons: OEM Tires are costly. Wide turning radius. Torque Steer. The Bottom Line: This is an excellent sleeper car. It is fast, stylish, and fun and doesn't draw attention to itself. Have some fun while you go grocery shopping!
This is a very thorough review of a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE by a critical mechanical engineer. I will discuss every minute detail and try to sum up the experience when driving this car. THE BEGINNING : I purchased this car in April of 2003 as a one ...

Pros: Sporty looks, good ride, power, gas mileage, value Cons: Minor rattles and buzzing sounds, old fashioned trunk hinges, obsolete after 2004, inferior base stereo The Bottom Line: Excellent car for the money. Love the gadgets, quality feel, and 3.5 liter engine. Cool headlamps up front too. They sealed the deal.
Have always loved the Maxima back from the second generation (1989). Excellent "european ride", very comfortable and responsive.
Just bought a used 2002 Maxima SE and have a few comments for those considering a similar purchase.

Pros: 255hp, available SE suspension, reliability, spaciousness, not a Camry Cons: Styling quirks, torque steer, Hard to get some options w/o others, ride (SE) The Bottom Line: If constrained by family and practicality issues, this is a great choice. If you want a car with a little more personality, try a Passat.
The 2002 Nissan Maxima now sports a 255 hp 3.5L V-6 instead of the previous models' 3.0 L version. It also has some minor styling changes. The Maxima aimed at competing with high end Camrys and Accords, though in SE form it is somewhat more expensive...

Pros: Solid European feel, strong engine performance, excellent fit and finish. Cons: Slightly busy ride, torque steer, slight wind noise around the windows. The Bottom Line: Even with an impending re-design forthcoming, the Maxima is a "driver's car". It does everything well, and is exceptional in many areas.
I purchased this vehicle new one month ago, and have put 500 miles on it thus far. I have no regrets thus far, other than the fact that it is primarily my wife's car.
The engine is a marvel of design and technology. I only wish that it was...

Pros: Power! Smooth transmission, surprising handling for its size. Cons: Some things I would change about exterior styling... The Bottom Line: This car accelerates and handles better than anything in its class, with baby brother, the new Altima tagging very close behind. Power and handling are deceptively sporty for its size.
I have been following the automotive adjustments and improvements made to the Nissan Maxima for a while, ever since the first time I rode in one. I remember thinking that the car had an exceptional ability to convey power and acceleration all the while...

Pros: Excellent power, lots of goodies, Quality inside and out Cons: No lit controls on steering wheel, old fashion trunk hinges The Bottom Line: If you are buying a near-luxury automobile, definitely drive the Maxima. The brand may not have as much luster, but the value and performance will more that compensate for it.
In considering a near luxury car, I looked at BMW (3 series), the Acura TL & TL-S, the new A4, VW Passat, the new ES300, and the 2002 Maxima was my winner. I think all of these are very good cars, but the higher equipment level offered in the Maxima...

Pros: 3.5L 255hps, HID Headlights, 17" Rims, roomy interior. Cons: Really stiff suspension. My old 94 Camry was way more comfortable. The Bottom Line: Why isnt it a 5 star car? Maxima could have done better with ride quality. read on for full detailed review. LONG!
OK, where do I start... I've looked into this car for 4 years before I bought my SE 2003 Maxima. Body This is a great transition from 4th generation look to 5th generation look. It might look a lot more boxy, but the aggressive front of the car is ...

Pros: Stealth rocket with space for five. Cons: Could have a better slalom speed and have something(?)done to the shifter. The Bottom Line: I research in an obsessive manner for months. This is one of the best car for the money available.
I have had my 2002 Maxima SE 6 speed for a year and a half (leased new). Aside from taking it in for leaking power steering hoses (tightened), it has been flawless. It has also been very fast. It has a computer generated mpg number of 28.8 currently, and ...

Pros: Excellent power and handling, sporty touches here and there, roominess Cons: Rough ride, mediocre fuel mileage, more expensive than a nicer equipped Altima with comparable performance. The Bottom Line: The Nissan Maxima offers a sporty alternative to bread-and-butter midsize sedans from competitors, it is targeted to the sports-sedan crowd and is a worthy adversary to its peers.
As this review is written, the totally-redesigned 2004 Nissan Maxima is on the showroom floor. However, for those who like to value-shop, be advised that Nissan will not haggle on the price of this hot new model, so unless you wish to wait at least...

Pros: Smooth and powerful Engine, Smooth transmission, HID lamps, Comfortable interior, Smooth ride, Plush interior finish. Cons: Poorly placed controls, cheap wood-grain plastic, paint integrity, steering wheel controls do not light up. The Bottom Line: This is a vehicle that can rival vehicles like Lexus and Acura easily, but falls just short with interior details. The car is very reliable. It's a great buy.
The engine is where this car has it. The engine power (255HP) is also very torquey and the response is practically second to none in it class. This car leaves most cars in the dust. It does have a slight issue with torque steering, but this controllable. ...

Pros: Power and Handling, 6 Speed Transmission, Highway Ride Cons: Some window noise, Torque steer The Bottom Line: BUY THIS CAR!!!! You will not be disappointed. Loads of power and fun for you, roomy enough for your spouse and two kids.
Fell in love with it from the moment I test drove it. 255hp and a 6 speed transmission makes this car take off like rocket. I could feel my self being pushed hard into the seat while accelerating. I bought one and have been having a great time since. The...
