Pros: Smooth and powerful engine, very decent fuel mileage, capable off-roader, and comfortable Cons: paper thin body panels, poor seat material, and the worst clock location possible The Bottom Line: The Tacoma is stylish without looking gaudy and still retains a truck-like look. It is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It might be the perfect truck.
Well, here I am writing about a vehicle for the first time in my 15 year driving history. My '02 Tacoma 4x4 SR5 TRD 3.4L V6 is my eighth vehicle to date. I have had a mix of cars, trucks, and SUV's over the years. However, I believe my Tacoma to be ...

Pros: Fun to drive, comfortable seats, leaves you feeling good. Cons: Truck ride, 4cyl could be more powerful The Bottom Line: This truck is perfect if you don't want a full-size truck, but still want that good-truck feeling.
INTRODUCITON: A relative of mine recently bought a new 2002 Toyota Tacoma X-tra cab 4-cyl. It is gold, with the SR5 package, which adds a lot of chrome, to make it a nice looking little truck.
ENGINE:
Ah, the heart of the truck. It sounds...

Pros: Reputation of reliability, styling, good acceleration, fun to drive. Cons: roll-overs? The Bottom Line: So far, the Tacoma has been great. I'll keep you updated as I go along...
I have a 2002, manual, 4X4, V6, Extracab with the TRD package. I bought the truck used in 2003 with 5,000 miles on it and have only put 1,000 on since then. When I was researching this truck, I found the longitudinal reviews with numerous updates to ...

Pros: Quality, Power, Value Cons: Flimsy bucket seats, Double Cab leak is common The Bottom Line: This is probably the best in its class, and it is easily the best vehicle I have ever owned.
I bought the 2002 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 V6 SR5 model with the TRD off road package, air conditioning, power package (windows, locks and mirrors), CD player, antilock brakes and daytime running lights. Overall, I am very satisfied with the truck, having ...

Pros: build quality, tradition of strength, option groups Cons: emergency brake and clock locale. The Bottom Line: I think I found a vehicle that will be in my family for a LONG while. Highly recommend!
After years of owning Honda Civics and Nissan Altimas, my wife and I decided to step up (no pun intended) to a truck. Here's our take on this vehicle.
I could not believe the ride quality over my Civic and my wife's fully optioned Altima GLE!...

Pros: Perfect for light work, doesn't hog gas, no vibrations, retains value Cons: Poor handling around turns, extended cab is a waste, suspension very rigid, occasional wheel locking The Bottom Line: I recommend this truck but be careful with the handling and don't waste money on the extended cab.
My father owns this truck, but I drove it for over a year. Aside from a problem with a certain 'cable' that completely messed up the acceleration and wasted a lot of gas (though I was still able to accumulate speed gradually) nothing has gone wrong. That ...

Pros: Great power, price, and good looks for a mini-size truck. Cons: Clunky 5 spd and clock location The Bottom Line: This is a great truck for the buy. It is big enough to do normal workloads and can get in garage with ease. Buy this truck if you want reliability.
So far I have 2500 miles on the truck and it has been a great experience. I purchased a 2002 xtra cab 4x4 with the sr5 package which includes the cd player, white faced gauges, v6 power, cruise control, bigger tires, and delay wipers. I looked at ...

Pros: power, comfort, ride. Cons: 5' bed, clock position behind steering wheel, need some brighter color choices. The Bottom Line: Highly recommend. Good ride, plenty of power, comfortable interior with lots of amenities.
I really like this vehicle and enjoy driving it.
I've had my Tacoma for 5 weeks and have put 1500 miles on it. The ride is excellent, even with the off road package. I thought I would not like having the automatic transmission (manual not available), but it is actually very effective on or off road. ...

Pros: Excellent package, cool looks, spacious, feels free Cons: Ride, handling, suspension The Bottom Line: Well, if you want to enjoy the ride, take the Toyota Stride - PreRunner - The path to a comfortable, stylish, but simple transport.
This truck is excellent! It is my very first truck and I love it so far. Though the ride (above 50 mph), it kind of vibrates a little more than my old '93 Mercury Tracer I traded in for it.
Other than that, the sound inside is good. I do...

Pros: Great looks, the V6 has good power. The truck handles and rides well. Cons: Poor quality. Many rattles and creaks in the interior. Dealer unable to fix. The Bottom Line: I would be very careful buying one. Request a written agreement that if these rattles develop that the dealer fix them or replace the unit.
I bought my 2002 Tacoma Prerunner Extra Cab V6 in June 2002. In the first 3 months it was in the dealers 8 times to fix various squeaks and rattles, and has been in three more times since then. The steering wheel had sharp plastic edges and the had to...

Pros: Spacious, looks, tight Toyota quality Cons: Ride, Handling The Bottom Line: Overall, our family is really pleased with the truck/sedan. If your family is like ours, I believe you'll be also.
Our family of four was split on different style of transportations. Ladies in the family wanted a nice sedan with room enough for at least 4 adults. Our dad on the other-hand, wanted a truck so that he can haul big items time to time.
I didn't want...

Pros: Legendary Toyota build quality, good mileage, reliable. Cons: Bad clock placement, short bed and lack of manual transmission. The Bottom Line: I'd buy this truck again if Toyota imports a manual tranny. I recently saw where Nissan will have a manual transmission on the 2005 Frontier.
I bought the truck new in '03 and it has overall been great. I have since driven over 34,000 trouble-free miles in all climates, from snowy upper Ohio to humid south Florida. I needed a truck for light towing (trailer/motorcycle) and yard maintenance. I ...

Pros: Reliability, Styling, Resale Value Cons: Ride, clock, no 5 speed?? The Bottom Line: If you need a reliable truck that seats 5 do not hesitate, go out and test drive this truck.
The Tacoma Quad Cab offers the best of both worlds. You can haul around your buddies or pickup a load of top soil for the yard. Everybody knows about Toyota's reliability so I won't sped much time on that. So far we have logged 13,000 miles on our...

Pros: Powerful Cons: Small cab The Bottom Line: I think it is an excellent truck for if you drive in rough terrain.
When I bought this truck, I got what I expected. I bought it for the ability to haul stuff in the back, and I can do that without worry. I bought it for the power, so I could get through rough terrain, and I can without a hassle. I haul logs in the back...
