Great Truck

by lankheet
Sep 6, 2008 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Power, comfort, quality of construction
Cons: gas milage, stiff seats
The Bottom Line: I would buy this truck again in a heartbeat. The quality has to be seen to be appreciated. Even with the somewhat high price, it is a great value.

I traded a '99 F-150 and the difference in quality is unreal. Everything in the Toyota fits and performs perfectly. No rattles, quiet on the road, great stereo. The V-8 is the only way to go, a perfect match for the size of this truck. It is a little ... read more

Aug 19, 2007 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: High Dependability, Great Warranty backing by Manufacturer, good MPG, and great looks.
Cons: Thin paint, some cheap fixtures, uncomfortable bench seat.
The Bottom Line: I recommend buying any Toyota vehicle as I've had many that have exceeded 220K plus trouble-free miles.

This is a great, and reliable truck, and I could highly recommend it to anyone. Mine still runs, and drives great, has 164K on it, and with no mechanical problems besides the recall repair on the balljoints as a precautionary measure. However there are ... read more

The Bottom Line: These are great trucks but good luck finding a used one.

I test Drove every model of truck out there before settling on this particular vehicle. There is definitely some consistency through the reviews that I will attempt to address. The truck had 65,000 miles on it when purchased, and the check engine ... read more

Just bought my 2002 Toyota Tundra Access Cab 4x4 with 49,000 miles on it. Has the 4.7L Iforce V8. About to get my first oil change. I haven't tried towing anything with it yet, but it seems to have plenty of power for usual 1/2 ton truck stuff. Came ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Looks, Ride, Reliability, Power
Cons: NONE!
The Bottom Line: The only truck I would consider trading this one in on would be another Tundra after I put my usual 300-500,000 on it!

We had always wanted a full-size pick-up but refused to buy one until either Toyota or Nissan had built one with a V8. This truck is awesome! Handles great, rides great, looks great and of course I know it will be reliable! We have owned 4 ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Excellent build quality, good power, comfortable for full size truck
Cons: transmission "clunk"...no black interior option, NO problems to date (5,500 miles)
The Bottom Line: I would absolutely get another Tundra. I am looking forward to a remodel / upgrade of the Tundra in 2004 for my next vehicle.

I own a 2002 Toyota tundra 4X4 and love it. I've had many cars in the past ,but fell in love with trucks when I bought a Tacoma in 2000. Unfortunately the Tacoma had a small 4 cylinder and was a little underpowered for me. Hence, my Tundra ... read more

Pros: Powerful V8, good ride
Cons: Reputation for brake problems, driveshaft "clunk", some cheap interior trim
The Bottom Line: The Tundra is a quality truck, and although it has a few low points, is still better than the other three large pickups.

The Toyota Tundra is a pickup truck which is suited well for city driving. It provides a smooth ride and handles well. Mine is a 2WD access cab V8. The 2002 Tundra is available in two body styles- a regular cab with an 8' long bed, and an access cab ... read more

Tundra's weak point

by bilbur
Sep 2, 2002 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Power is awesome, ride outstanding, handling better than most
Cons: This truck has poor brakes when fully loaded.
The Bottom Line: Buy it if you want a well dressed classy 'city' truck with lots of great options and awesome V8 power. Don't buy it if you are hauling heavy loads.

The sales people want you to believe the Tundra is a true 3/4 ton truck. It is, at best, a 1/2 ton pickup just capable of handling a 6,500 pound trailer equipped with proper trailer brakes. The truck has drum brakes in the rear and small disk ... read more

Ive owned 2 Toyotas. They both were 4Runners. One was an '85 with over 200,000 miles and the other was a '91 with over 100,000 miles. I loved both of these vehicles. They rode nice and were as dependable as the sunrise. However they were not ... read more

Pros: V8 power, smooth transmission, & the high quality to detail.
Cons: Back seats are upright, aux pwr only works with the truck on.
The Bottom Line: Bottom Line, if you look at the Tundra you will buy the Tundra.

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Quality vehicle, reliable, smooth, comfortable, tough
Cons: a few minor complaints, that's all
The Bottom Line: The Toyota Tundra is a reliable, quiet riding, and overall superior pickup truck. Its performance, safety, and quality far outweigh that of any other truck on the market.

Feb 19, 2002 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Powerful, Stylish, Nice finish work and attention to detail, and super safe
Cons: The brakes are pathetic.
The Bottom Line: I bought a Toyota after hearing about their quality and reliability, and being fascinated with people's devotion to the brand. Check this issue out. This is not an isolated case.

Hmm. I was convinced that Toyota was the way to go after everything I'd heard. Looked into the Tundra. After some research (not enough), I decided on it b/c it was THE BENCHMARK for safety in crash tests, and IT WAS A TOYOTA. I bought a 2002 loaded ... read more

Pros: Quality, Exhaust/Engine Sound, Quit Comfortable Ride, Visors, Power, Classy
Cons: Lacks: road sensitive radio, auto-headlamps, message center, leather steering wheel and outofreach dash controls
The Bottom Line: Toyota Tundras are superb(must have)! Chevy/GMC have craftsmanship issues but they have nice options. Ford's have a school bus like ride and Dodge Rams Quality could be better.

I traded my 2000 Chevy Silverado Ext Cab 3dr for my 2002 Tundra Limited 4dr. with the TRD Package and Leather. I am overwhelmingly pleased with this truck and sometimes wonder if it’s not actually a Lexus in disguise. I am the very picky type who has ... read more

The Bottom Line: Excellent quality, looks sharp and smart, if you're thinking about buying a Chevy, fork out a little more and get a Tundra.

I traded in my 2000 Toyota Tundra for a 2002 Toyota Tundra Access Cab SR5. I LOVED my 2000 model- basically just wanted leather interior and a new color. So far, other than having the leather interior now in my new truck, I can find no significant ... read more

Pros: Well-made, smooth car-like ride, very little cheap plastic, quiet, and very comfortable.
Cons: This truck seems to go through a set of front brakes about once a year.
I purchased my 2002 Tundra brand new on 4/10/02. I opted for the V6 model. It's got plenty of power and I can tow a trailer with a large quad on it with no problems. I love my Tundra. It's been an all-around great truck, easy to drive and stylish.
