Pros: Adequate horsepower, Lower price, Reliable engine. Cons: Could use more power, Heavy curb weight, Poor gas mileage. The Bottom Line: If you are a diehard Volkswagen fan, and love the underpowered feeling associated with most VW vehicles of the 1940s-1990s, this is your van!
VW ultimately was the first company to produce a minivan. First named the 'Microbus,' in the late 1940s with its 30 horsepower engine moving over 3,000lbs when fully loaded. Despite this odd combination of weight and power, VW gained a 'VW Bus'...

Pros: Lots of space and headroom; great for tall people; affordable Cons: We have had some major repair problems. The Bottom Line: The Eurovan comes at a minivan price, but gives you much more space and luxury than you might think.
Introduction
We owned our wonderful Volkswagen Passat for 3 years and loved every driving minute of it. We then had baby number two and realized that we were quite crowded in a sedan-type car.
Unfortunately, the last time...

Pros: S P A C E ... and lots of it. Cons: Requires premium fuel. Costly repairs! The Bottom Line: We like it a lot, but wish routine costs like gas, tires & brakes were less expensive. Until the new VW Microbus returns this will be our vehicle of choice.
I must preface this by saying I am a loyal VW follower. I like the ingenuity and European quality/design of VW. So, when our family outgrew the Passat wagon, we went looking for a mini-van--and despite the loyalty I did explore the marketplace before ...

Pros: German assembled, spacious, lovable Cons: Quirky, bumpy, heavy The Bottom Line: Lots of room for the family, a great long distance cruiser and character that you won't find in a Dodge Caravan.
The shiny black bus in our garage is now the fourth that I have owned. After seeing the price drop dramatically in 2002 and the engine horsepower increased I decided to take a test drive and instantly fell in love with the beast and with the German...

Pros: Stylish, Very spacious, Peppy, Great turn radius, Seven full-sized seats, Seats fold flat Cons: No drivers-side sliding door. Rear bench seat difficult to remove. The Bottom Line: I'm a father of three who refused to buy a minivan. Technically this vehicle is a minivan, but it offers Volkswagen style and spaciousness unequaled by its rivals.
Minivans lack style and SUVs in the same price range as the Eurovan are just cars on steroids -- off ...

Pros: Fridge, table, pop top - everything! Cons: Tires and brakes are expensive to replace. I had to replace at 26k. The Bottom Line: Like my 4 year old says "I love my bus"
I bought my 2002 Eurovan in May of 2002 and since then, at least once a week I tell my husband that I love my bus. My son named it the bus and it stuck. I have the weekender edition, with the pop top, fridge under the seat and table. I use the ...

Pros: Driving experience, not owning a look-alike van Cons: Gas mileage The Bottom Line: If you need a versatile, comfortable, useful minivan that is well built and engineered, drive a Eurovan.
Came across this deal while have the 15k service done on my wife's beetle. Could not pass it up. I ...

The 2002 Eurovan nightmare-engine gone at 63,000 mi

Pros: roominess Cons: gear problem, electrical problems, engine troubles
My 2002 Eurovan was trouble from the start. With 6 kids, I loved the Eurovan's design, it's roominess, but when winter came, and I needed to heat the car for at least 15 min each morning, before it would go into gear, I quickly fell out of love with the vehicle. It needed an internal clutch, the 1st year we had it. And more and more problems early on; temp sensor, air compresor and so on and so on, I'm not even going to touch on the cosmetic problems we had with the glove box, the door etc. Now after 63,000 mi,and a new cam sensor the VW dealer is telling me I need a new $7,000. engine (even though we have 14 oil changes documented). VW will offer no assistance whatsoever. My suggestion is stay away from VW's.VW can't even stand behind their defective product.
