Pros: Zippy, loaded with features, sporty but with lots of room for cargo Cons: More expensive than other wagons, slight lag in lower gears, turbo repair costs may shock The Bottom Line: Highly recommended for anyone looking for a wagon. It costs more than others in its class, but you get more features, plus a drive that's unquestionably German.
If you don't want to spend money on a new car, then don't test drive the new Jetta Wagon. Especially not the 1.8-liter turbo engine. I can assure you that you won't walk out of the dealership without it. Although it costs a bit more than other wagons in...

Pros: Fun to drive, sporty/luxurious family wagon, safety features Cons: A little pricey but worth it The Bottom Line: Get it for the look, feel, German engineering and VW safety reliability.
We got the GLX VR6 (standard leather w/power everything) with the sports suspension package and I absolutely love driving it and looking at it! My husband, who drives an SUV and complains whenever he doesn't, has fallen in love with it too.

Pros: Super fuel economy (40+mpg), good looks, great interior Cons: High price, diesel fuel inconveniences The Bottom Line: The Jetta TDi offers an extremely robust, well-rounded package, and the new 4-year bumper-to-bumper warranty is an added bonus.
Fuel Economy. Two words can sum up the direction that all automakers are heading these days. While sales of gas-hungry SUV's begin to slip, new technologies are hitting the market promising greater fuel economy, which means lower emissions. Hybrid ...

Pros: Quick acceleration (1.8t), Euro style, 200 watt stereo, improved warranty, 17 inch alloys Cons: Premium gas, ridiculous back seat space, flimsy cupholders The Bottom Line: The 1.8t is fun to drive and you look cute driving it.
I have only had this car for a little over a month, however so far I am pleased with both the way it looks as well as it's performance. When test driving the different Jetta models, I remember being pretty disappointed at how sluggish the base engines...

Pros: looks, mileage, safety, quality, handling, 5-spd manual transmission, engine Cons: Monsoon sound system, cheap looking arm rest, rear leg room, auto tranny The Bottom Line: Recommended, oozes quality for this class of car, Wash., D.C. to Denver with one fuel stop...wow!, avoid Monsoon sound system, 5-spd better than the auto tranny. Tops in safety.
Through the first 3000 miles we have averaged 46 mpg, with a high of 51 mpg. Do not be scared away by the engines 90 hp rating, it has gobs of torque. Torque is what gets you moving, up hills, etc., think of torque as pulling power. Engine is quiet...

Pros: acceleration (1.8t); handling, appearance (17" alloys) Cons: nothing that wouldn't be nitpicking The Bottom Line: The Jetta GLS 1.8t leaves the competition in the dust. It gives you plenty of power and great handling, and above all else, it's fun and reliable.
The 2002 Jetta GLS 1.8t is a great car. I went to the VW dealer having done extensive research and knowing exactly what I wanted. They had the car I wanted on site, and as soon as I pulled out of the lot I knew the car was mine! The acceleration is...

Pros: Solid car, great features, great resale! Cons: Lots of hidden fees in the lease - acquisition fee, disposition fee, etc. The Bottom Line: Consistent quality and design of a German car, price and value consistent with American compact/midsize. Best value for my money!
Recently I leased a new Jetta, as my Ford Focus lease is up in a couple more weeks. I was considering the Honda Civic EX and the Mazda Protege' 5, as these were both in the same price range as my Focus. I decided to look at the VW Golf, too, so the VW...

Pros: Great fuel Economy, Nice interior and styling. Cons: standard sound system fair. The Bottom Line: Love the diesel, not much hp but the torque is awesome! Will probably never buy a gas car again!
My Silver Jetta GLS with all the options is a wonderful car. Gets excellent mileage with the 5 speed manual transmission. Best 54 Mpg, worst around 41 mpg. Leather interior is nice to keep clean and the heated seats are options that I did not think I...

Pros: Style, Handling, Mileage, Diesel Rules! Cons: Some squeaks inside when it's cold The Bottom Line: I would absolutely buy another one of these, and am considering one for my spouse instead of her gas guzzling SUV.
I love my Jetta!
I've had it for about 7 months and have driven 14,000 trouble free miles. It's an excellent car that combines performance, style, affordability, and operating costs. It's fun to drive and handles really well. Remember that...

Pros: Quality manufacturing and fun to drive. Cons: Velour seats collect lint and the back seat is small. The Bottom Line: This is a great car!
I got my 2002 Jetta about 1 month ago, and while I cannot comment on its durability over the long haul, I can comment on how much I love this car.
After getting rid of my 2001 Grand Am (read my review if you are interested), I decided to lease...

Pros: Great MPG, excellent safety, superb handling, and lots standard. Cons: Size - could use a little more room, mainly back seat leg room. The Bottom Line: It costs more than other cars of its size, but you get what you pay for.
I've put almost 5000 miles on this car and it is delivering all the way. I'm averaging about 49 mpg (85% highway) and I'm not even babying it. It handles the curves like a dream. There's plenty of pep and it has enough power to maintain the cruise going...

Pros: Sporty, comfortable, fun Cons: Haven't found one yet! The Bottom Line: I absolutely love my car. When this VW finally does have to be replaced, it will be with another VW.
I absolutely love my car. My husband and I bought it certified used, and purchased the extended warranty. We were expecting our first child and wanted a safe car for her. I had previously owned a New Beetle, and loved the support I got from VW. I ...

Pros: Economical. Great Styling. Fun to drive Cons: Diesel residue on white car. The Bottom Line: This is a great car for any one that drives a lot, any age range. I've had people stop me to tell me that they like my car...now that's something!
I love my Jetta TDI...It is fun to drive, economical, comfortable and stylish. My favorite things are the supurb sound system (Monsoon upgrade), heated leather seats are awesome, manueverability, and it stops on a dime! I have had no major problems so far...

Pros: Sporty, with a lot of pep. Decent cubic space for hauling stuff around. Cons: A couple of minor ergonomic details; Back seat is small for large adults. The Bottom Line: The Jetta Wagon does everything you want in a small/mid-size wagon and more. It's clean look, sporty nature and decent cubic space will appeal to everyone in the family.
After an exhaustive search, the Jetta Wagon was the choice for me. I needed a mid-size wagon with enough cubic space to haul furniture, feel comfortable when driving long distances, and have a little bit of pep.
The main comparison was with...

Pros: Fuel mileage, interior, handling Cons: Cup holders block CD player and radio The Bottom Line: 50 mpg and fun to drive
The new TDI(turbocharged direct injection) diesels are nothing like the diesels of the past. They are quiet, clean, and efficient. The diesel mileage is excellent at 50mpg. The new TDI diesels use glow-plugs to start in the winter and generally take a...
