Pros: Good solid ride, room for 6 adults comfortably Cons: Sensor occasionally give false warnings. Not very fuel efficient The Bottom Line: This was the last year of the Windstar and the used market is flooded with them so you should be able to get one at a good price.
We purchased a used 2003 Windstar last summer after owning a 1995 for almost 10 years. My only hope is that this one will last as long. Our main reason for choosing another windstar was past performance. I find that the Windstar has a firmer ride than ... read more

Pros: Dual sliding doors Cons: Transmission failed in 3 year old car, other repairs were very expensive. The Bottom Line: While you may get lucky and find a Windstar without massive problems, I wouldn't count on it. Save yourself a headache and SKIP THIS CAR.
We bought a used 2003 Ford Windstar about one year ago. About 2 months after we bought it we had to pay $700 to fix the BRAKES. Seems there was some huge problem with them, and after a 3rd opinion we decided we'd just have to pay. Argh. But the big ... read more

Pros: Comfortable, plenty of power. Cons: Bench seats are a pain to get out alone. The Bottom Line: The new Freestar is the old Windstar refined. So if your looking for a new one, go with the Freestar and you won't be dissappointed.
88,000+ miles on our '03 and only 1 problem, one of the door sensors isn't registering the door closed, so the light stays on indicating a door open and the interior lights don't come on. Kind of a minor thing, but annoying. About 85,000 I changed the ... read more

Pros: Beautiful paint and Car Cons: Beauty is skin deep. Underneath is junk. The Bottom Line: DO NOT BUY - RUN, do not walk away from this vehicle!
Our 2003 Windstar is a beautiful vehicle. Maybe it has too many bells and whistles but to us it has been a lemon. We are on out third VCR (and this one will not rewind now) because Ford will only give you a "REBUILT" unit under warranty. The rear ... read more

Pros: Good crash test ratings, good for trips. Cons: poor quality, uncomfortable seats, ugly exterior design, some features are unreliable. The Bottom Line: Don't buy it. It is not as good as other vans and SUV's. Just rent it for trips. Otherwise, get another car.

In 1998 we purchased a Ford Windstar and loved it for our growing family. With 4 children we needed the room. We were so impressed that we decided to purchase a Ford Windstar 2003 this year.

Pros: Only good for the first 24 months! Cons: Falling apart after 24 months!
If we had known better, we wouldn't have purchased the 2003 Ford Windstar. We bought it brand new, and had no problems at all in the first two years. Then it started to fall apart. We could hear high pitch noise when we turned the steering wheel

I have this car for 4 years, 56000km It is very comfortable during driving, a lot of space. The negative side is reliability. Some small things are falling pretty often: pipe licking, air bag light on/off, manufacturing recall for back sits, break rotors

Pros: Big, roomy, powerful engine Cons: Reliability, Reliability, Reliability
Fords are great cars if you don't plan on keeping them past the 3 year warranty. Having scaled back on quality, the windstar (and my Explorer) both fell apart immediately for things that should not be a problem. Just after the 3 year warranty expired
