Brake!

by
Apr 9, 2007 - Updated Apr 10, 2007 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Leather, dvd, nice Bose stereo
Cons: Mechanical issues left and right.
The Bottom Line: Not again. Too many mechanical issues to deal with.

We had a 1998 Dodge Durango. (best one...newer ones are horrid) Decided to sell that to a friend and go look at the Yukon XLs. Fell in love with one. Had everything in it that we wanted. DVD system, leather seats, heated seats, captain chairs in 2nd ... read more

Almost an Escalade, but not quite enough to keep up?

by
Aug 29, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Surprisingly nimble, decent steering feel, power, engine roar, easy-to-use electronics, comfy seats
Cons: Plasticky interior, 3rd-row seat is torturous
The Bottom Line: The poor-man or shy-man's Escalade with less luxuries. Not a slam-dunk but a solid choice nonetheless.

This is for the 2005 GMC Yukon Denali, not the 2003. I put it here because there was no space for the 2005. Having spent 10 months at a GMC dealer as a lot porter, I've driven more Denalis than I can count. A lot porter's job is to wash, gas, keep the ... read more

Simply a great SUV!

by
Oct 2, 2005 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Safety, comfort, utility
Cons: Gas mileage, not enough cup holders in the front, faux wood plastic in the dash
The Bottom Line: Strongly recommend this vehicle; it has the utility of a truck and drives like a Cadilac; lots of horsepower and room; loaded with safety features.

We traded in a 1997 Chev Suburban (Choo Choo Conversion) for our 2003 Yukon XL Denali. We love this vehicle for its safety, comfort and utility. It's terrific in snow; was traveling on I-90 in Washington in the middle of a snow storm. There were ... read more

Great deal or gluttonous excess

by
Jun 23, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: For the price, you cannot find a better SUV.
Cons: It's quite a large truck. Not recommend for parking lots or downtown driving.
The Bottom Line: Great truck (for the price) if you need to cart a lot of people or stuff. Big, but not ostentatious like the Denalis or Navigators.

I had no intention of buying this truck until I went comparison shopping. I always thought that the Yukon was an expensive, show-off truck: it can be, if you start piling on the options; if not, you can buy these relatively cheap. You cannot find ... read more

Love My Denali!!

by
Nov 21, 2004 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Sooooooo comfortable to drive, lots of room, nicer than most American car interiors.
Cons: It doesn't get the world's best gas mileage - but nothing this size does.
The Bottom Line: Roomy, comfortable to drive vehicle with lots of room for everyone and everything! With the XM Radio it's like riding around in your living room!

When we found out I was pregnant with our first child, my husband immediately decided it was time to trade in my 1997 Boxster, that I had driven and loved for many years. He gave me pretty much carte blanche on deciding on a new vehicle - with the ... read more

Maybe the best out there, but.......

by
Apr 3, 2004 - Updated Jan 9, 2007 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Nice looking, nice interior, nice dash controls.
Cons: Surprisingly, lacks space in many areas (storage, leg room, etc.)
The Bottom Line: I'd recommend it, but be warned - it does not have nearly the spaciousness you might expect from an SUV.

Ok, from the outside, I don't think there's a better looking large SUV. Especially with after market crome wheels. We (my Wife and I) purchased our 2003 Yukon XL 4X4 from Allen GMC in Laguna Niguel. They were great! Because we bought ours on ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Power, low speed agility, thoughtful and numerous practical features, value.
Cons: 3rd seat comfort, cost, tires.
The Bottom Line: I encourage you to check out the GM full-size SUV products with the rest and not overlook it like I almost did; It may fit you!

I am a new owner of a new '03 SLT Yukon with the larger, 5.3L V8. I'm not an experienced reviewer, but I thought after reading the available reviews, perhaps my recent experiences might be of some help. I'll further preface by saying that I use 4WD for w ... read more

by
May 23, 2003 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: This vehicle has a very comfortable interior.
Cons: The reverberation in the vehicle is causing my family severe ear pain !
The Bottom Line: Do not buy this vehicle unless you have great health insurance. Periodic medical attention may be required.GM scores no points for customer service here.

Our family purchased a New 2003 Yukon XL in March. Immediately, we noticed a reverberation problem in the vehicle. This inaudible vibration causes severe ear pain ! We have been round and round with both the dealership, where we purchased this vehicle, ... read more

Pros: The Ride, Control of the road, The seats are amazing, and the power to Pull!
Cons: Mirrors have No Blind Spot Viewing, and only two cup holders up front.
The Bottom Line: If you need a smooth ride, lots of power, room for 7 or 8, and Great Looks the GMC Yukon XL Denali fit's the Bill!

I recently traded my 2002 Ford F250 Crew Cab V10 for a 2003 GMC Yukon XL Denali. This SUV is The Ultimate in Comfort, Control, Ride, Room, and lots of Power! I was tired of bouncing around in my 3/4 ton truck. At the time I was towing a ... read more

Pros: Great look, great ride, powerful engine, lots of cargo
Cons: Sucks gas, large vehicle
The Bottom Line: If you like big beautiful SUV's loaded to the top with the newest technology, this could be the SUV for you.

For a long time, my neighbor had been pressuring me to buy one of these things. I had a regular Suburban and thought, what could the difference be? Well after getting one, I see the only similarity is the fact that they are made by GMC. With the ... read more

Dream Denali

by
Jan 15, 2003 - Updated Jan 16, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Beautiful finish interiorly and exteriorly. Pure luxury and great handling
Cons: Gas Mileage 11-14 mpg
The Bottom Line: We chose it not for commuting to work(we have a Honda)or hauling fertilizer(Chevy pickup). We chose it for traveling in comfort, safety, luxury and towing.

We had a great experience in purchasing our 2003 Denali through CarsDirect.com. We were having difficulty finding a low miles, white, sun-roofed used Denali because a car broker friend of mine said that people are hanging onto them. Having no success, ... read more

by
Dec 20, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Power, ride, amenities, room, looks, This vehicle make you feel like a King
Cons: Fuel Econ, but considering the utility it's not bad
The Bottom Line: IF you need style room, power to tow, Safety, this is your ride!

I bought the Denali for its room, utility and power. This is a great vehicle if you need room comfort and style. We recently had snow in Indiana and I had a chance to drive the all wheel drive vehicle in slippery road surfaces. The combination ... read more

Dust Collectors and Devilish Offers Sum Up My Denali Experience

by
Oct 23, 2002 - Updated Oct 18, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Comfortable, Holds People and Large Amounts of Stuff
Cons: Look, Price, Gas Mileage, Handling, Visibility, High Ground Clearance Makes Loading Difficult
The Bottom Line: The bang for the buck factor wasn't there with the Denali, the luxury aspects interfered with the rugged aspects.

Since moving into our house last March, I have been meaning to redo the front landscaping because the current bushes look weak and require too much maintenance as is. After coming up with a grand design, consisting of a natural coquina rock mounds, rock ... read more

A Suburban with twenty fewer inches. What's the point of that?

by mkaresh is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports
Sep 14, 2002 - Updated Jun 23, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: Front and second row room and comfort, power, nimble for size
Cons: Third row room and comfort, cargo space with third row, swaying rear end, price
The Bottom Line: An interesting combination of virtues and shortcomings, the market for this vehicle gets narrower with each new entrant to the category.

GM has long dominated the full-size SUV market. For years there was just one with four doors, the Suburban. Then SUVs became hot in the 1990s, and GM realized that some people might want a full-size truck with a bit less length. Well, twenty inches less. ... read more

Pros: Space, luxury, looks, comfort, class, smooth ride
Cons: Gas sucker! Only 14 MPG
We are all asked what is our "dream car" at some point. THIS IS MINE! We have had the Denali for about 8 months and I loooove it! The ride is smooth, the interior is gorgeous. We updated a few things, however. We bought a steering wheel with woodgrain ... read more

Is there really a better choice?
by
Sep 25, 2007 (Show)
Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Roomy, VERY comfortable, still can haul a load, good handling
Cons: Gas mileage (duh), no space behind 3rd row in non-XL models
My wife and I just bought ourselves a used, '03 Yukon SLT this summer and absolutely LOVE it. With mileage only a little worse than the smaller Trailblazers, the choice for the large SUV was easy. It turns VERY tight due to its short wheelbase, and is ... read more
