A great car that will keep you feeling green all over. (CVT)

by bobhilt

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fun to drive and rewarding to own with few if any compromises. Honda quality.
Cons: Some instrument panel glare. Just OK stereo. No split fold-down rear seat.
The Bottom Line: If you buy this car, you will be very happy with it, very proud to own it, and you'll be doing your kids/grand kids a favor.

I did a fair amount of research before choosing this car. I understand that many folks are paying MSRP or over(while I paid MSRP + $250 for the alarm). I couldn't be much happier with the car at this point.

The Civic Hybrid comes in two...

Jul 22 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Mileage, quality, comfort
Cons: price, rear seat doesn't open to trunk
The Bottom Line: A great car for it's size. The down side for me is the non-folding rear seat back. I hope Honda puts this engine/transmission in its larger cars.

I rented a 2003 Civic Hybrid (EVRentals - associated with Budget) for 3 days at Dulles airport (VA) ...

Makes me wonder why the Prius is so weird--Honda's and Toyota's hybrid sedans compared

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Refined feel, drives much like a conventional car
Cons: Slow, low handling limits, must adapt driving style to fully benefit
The Bottom Line: A much better car than the Prius, the Civic Hybrid makes me wonder why Toyota went through so much trouble.

Purely electric cars have not worked. They must be recharged too often, and recharging takes too long. The battery packs are so large and heavy that they severely harm the performance and functionality of the vehicle. For these reasons, auto makers ...

I love it as much now as when I brought it home.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Cost-effective, you get your money's worth, and beyond reliable.
Cons: That I paid full sticker price- I leased, then bought the same vehicle.
The Bottom Line: You can't go wrong. The Civic is their least expensive model, but they don't skimp on quality. My intention is to drive this until the doors fall off.

I signed a 4-year lease on a 2003 Honda Civic LX on May 31, 2003. For $172/month, it was the best deal I could find (I didn't want anything over $200.) The closest that anybody came at that time was about $198 for a Chevy product, but I had my heart set ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great mileage, better looking than Prius or Insight, and more peppy than you'd think.
Cons: Bad on snow and ice, limited options.
The Bottom Line: With my new snow tires, I love this car. I love this technology. I'm not going back to gas-only again, if I can help it.

I love my '03 Civic Hybrid. I've had it for 2 1/2 years, and I'm looking forward to several more years behind the wheel. I bought this car because I'm a pragmatic environmentalist. I believe that green technologies will only be developed as the market ...

Pros: Quiet ride, comfortable ride. Look on passengers faces when engine turns off at stop lights
Cons: No good place to rest my left arm. Manual clutch was too firm.
The Bottom Line: I bought this car because it's comfortable, quiet, and practical for a family of four.

Pros: gas miles
Cons: accelleration
The Bottom Line: GREAT

very good car, acceleration not as good as a normal gasoline engine, but who needs it unless your drag racing right? over all i love it! needs stronger body though, but for a hybrid, it only helps with the city driving, acceleration and speed which is...

All you really need

by Whytsiorc
Aug 27 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Hybrid technology, clean and quiet ride
Cons: Low mass-market appeal or head turning quotient, few trim choices
The Bottom Line: All anyone needs for urban commutes. Think of all the gas you'll save if you only drive your Porsche on weekends.

First of all, there is no reason that 40% of the cars on the road couldn't be built like this. Blame OPEC and the hopelessly apathetic alternative-fuel vehicle divisions of the domestic auto makers. I'm no tree hugger, but for daily driving, anything...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A re-definition of driving fun and the satisfaction of helping the common good.
Cons: Just OK stereo and A/C. Price premium.
The Bottom Line: If you are at all tempted after reading about it, buy it. You won't be sorry.

Read bobhilt's review- it is excellent and informative. I just picked up a 5 speed hybrid and am very pleased with it. I did not research this car- it was an almost-impulse buy. We researched a lot of other less expensive cars for a new car for my wife...

74 Miles Per Gallon, Whisper-Quiet

by tdrager
Feb 22 '03 - Updated Apr 06 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Up to 74 MPG. Quiet, soft ride. Fast. IMA, VTEC, Cylinder Idling.
Cons: Windows fog up easily.
The Bottom Line: This "green" machine that is fast. The ultra quiet, soft ride, fuel economy, IMA, VTEC and cylinder idling system as far far superior to the Toyota Prius.

At every stop light, while other cars are belching pollution, you will be glad to sit there with your engine in Auto-Stop mode wondering: Why doesn't every car have Auto-Stop for their engine? Besides saving money, having the engine shut off at stop...

Pros: price, room, performance, safty, features, and just the overall joy of driving this car.
Cons: Turn radius
This car is overall very good! im very pleased with the payment, performance, and milage this car gives. If you are looking in to buying this car, you wont regret it! There are many pros, and not very much cons. Some of the pros consist in the price, room, performance, safty, features, and just the overall joy of driving this car. The cons consist in the turn radius. I love to burn out, do a couple cookies, but i wasnt able to enjoy the power of this car with the limited turn radius. Other then that in sure you will have a great time owning one of these cars! The honda civic is a perfect family car for all occations, it offers the space for the feet room in the back, so your kids wont wine!

Love it!

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Excellent gas mileage, fun to drive, strong a/c, comfortable seats, cruise control
Cons: Medium acceleration
I absolutely LOVE this car! We purchased it used with 29,000 miles on it. I commute from Stafford, Va to Arlington, Va everyday, 40 miles each way, so this vehicle allows me to get on HOV lanes. I average 49-50 miles per gallon, my husband gets about 45 mpg, due to his lead foot. The acceleration is okay, not nearly as strong as our 2005 Camry, but who would expect that? This car is very fun to drive, you can see the mpg you are getting as you drive and watch when you run off of the battery or run off of gasoline. I fill up once every week and a half and the cost of a fill up is about $35, at about $2.89 per gallon.
