Pros: Fun to drive and rewarding to own with few if any compromises. Honda quality. Cons: Some instrument panel glare. Just OK stereo. No split fold-down rear seat. The Bottom Line: If you buy this car, you will be very happy with it, very proud to own it, and you'll be doing your kids/grand kids a favor.
I did a fair amount of research before choosing this car. I understand that many folks are paying MSRP or over(while I paid MSRP + $250 for the alarm). I couldn't be much happier with the car at this point.
The Civic Hybrid comes in two...

Pros: Excellent fuel efficiency, great factory equipment, reliable engine package Cons: None The Bottom Line: I'd definitely buy this car again. It has been more reliable than anything I've ever owned in the past.
What we have: 4-door sedan LX style Manual transmission 1.7 liter engine We purchased this car in 2003, when it only had 36 miles on the odometer. At the time we decided to purchase we were not really in the market for a new car, but we knew that ...

Pros: Mileage, quality, comfort Cons: price, rear seat doesn't open to trunk The Bottom Line: A great car for it's size. The down side for me is the non-folding rear seat back. I hope Honda puts this engine/transmission in its larger cars.
I rented a 2003 Civic Hybrid (EVRentals - associated with Budget) for 3 days at Dulles airport (VA) ...

Pros: Low fuel consumption, low noise, ample legroom, base model fully equipped Cons: Moderate acceleration at high speeds The Bottom Line: Probably the best compact car for the fuel conscious. Even better than a regular Honda Civic in terms of comfort and quiet
Even though I had been interested in Hybrid cars for some time, I passed on the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius since the Insight was only a 2 seater and Prius looked really weird and was kind of small.
When the Honda Civic Hybrid came out,...

Pros: A compact that feels and drives like a mid-size. Great looks and fun to drive! Cons: Trunk is a bit small but OK for a compact. The Bottom Line: This car is the wave of the future. No need to plug it in, it has computerized energy recovery built in! It's beautiful, reliable, and efficient!
Clean lines and beautiful finish inside and out. The Opal Blue color is stunning and changes hue with light conditions. The body has an unlimited warranty against rust.
It is clean, tight, quiet, and well built. The interior dash lamps glow with a...

Pros: Saves gasoline and money (less CO2) Good standard equipment. AutoStop feature never fails to impress. Cons: Lack of sunroof, no folding back seats. Not a big deal though. The Bottom Line: Has all the reliability and craftsmanship that one expects in a Honda, and it gets 40-50 miles per gallon! Continues to surprise after several months of owning.
My 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid
I have owned my Honda Civic Hybrid for over six months now and it now has 10000 miles on the clock. I bought this car as a replacement for a much loved 1989 SAAB 9000 Turbo. I have been extremely...

Pros: Cost-effective, you get your money's worth, and beyond reliable. Cons: That I paid full sticker price- I leased, then bought the same vehicle. The Bottom Line: You can't go wrong. The Civic is their least expensive model, but they don't skimp on quality. My intention is to drive this until the doors fall off.
I signed a 4-year lease on a 2003 Honda Civic LX on May 31, 2003. For $172/month, it was the best deal I could find (I didn't want anything over $200.) The closest that anybody came at that time was about $198 for a Chevy product, but I had my heart set ...

Pros: Up to 74 MPG. Quiet, soft ride. Fast. IMA, VTEC, Cylinder Idling. Cons: Windows fog up easily. The Bottom Line: This "green" machine that is fast. The ultra quiet, soft ride, fuel economy, IMA, VTEC and cylinder idling system as far far superior to the Toyota Prius.
At every stop light, while other cars are belching pollution, you will be glad to sit there with your engine in Auto-Stop mode wondering: Why doesn't every car have Auto-Stop for their engine? Besides saving money, having the engine shut off at stop...

Pros: Fantastic fuel consumption and a Zen driving experience. Cons: Quirks in IMA at low temperatures (less than -20C) and rear defrost button position. The Bottom Line: Buy one and save the planet! ;-) If you live in cooler climates with serious temperature drops, be prepared for the quirks.
We've had our Hybrid for just over half a year now and are definitely enjoying it. Many other reviewers have covered the bases already, so there's no need for me to rehash what's been written; I love this car just as much. With this in mind, I'll...

Vent Icons partly hidden from driver, Uncomfortable headrests The Bottom Line: Great car. I highly recommend it to anyone that needs the gas mileage, a comfy ride, reliability and room for the small family.
I'm very happy with the car, I feel I've made a good investment and also put in my vote for the technology to stay on the market. Even though I put mileage on it fast, I expect to get close to 8 years of service from this car. I've owned the car (my ...

Pros: awesome gas mileage, idle stop feature, looks like a normal car Cons: slow, weak stereo, only an armrest for the driver The Bottom Line: If your tired of giving your money to the gas companies than this is the car for you. Best of all it's a HONDA!!
The 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid is one of the best cars I have ever driven. It's very quiet, fun to drive, and gets incredible fuel mileage. I really like the CVT transmission, you never feel it shift. The price is a little higher at first but when you take...

Pros: CVT is awesome. Car handles good. A/C is powerful. A nice car, overall. Cons: Software glitches abound. Strange features. Loud rattle in dash. disappointing mileage. The Bottom Line: A nice car wrapped around some confused computers. Not as weird as the Prius. If bugs can be fixed it would be an excellent car.
I have owned numerous cars, including 3 Toyotas. I have always wanted to own a Honda, but never seemed to get around to buying one until the Hybrid came along. Being a renewable energy fan and watching gas prices skyrocket, I decided to get the Civic ...

Pros: Comfortable, efficient, reliable, quiet, good financial choice(for a new car). Cons: Trivial interior trim rattling, questionable environmental value. The Bottom Line: If I were buying new I would seriously consider the Civic Hybrid and the Prius. But I would question that hybrids have a lesser environmental impact than some conventional models.
This is my first (and last) new car, it now has 30k miles. We live in upstate NY so most of my experience with this car is in winter conditions. I'm an engineer in linear systems. Cost: $20k minus approx. 3.5k in tax refunds = $16.5k I'm an avid ...
