Hard to beat.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Mileage, quality, features- all great.
Cons: Shift lever is too close to the dash; should tilt out about an inch more.
The Bottom Line: My last Honda went 100,000 miles with NO repairs. Add the repairs to the cost of my Dodge van and I could have bought a Honda in the first place!

Recently purchased a choice 2003 Odyssey with 35,000 miles, directly from the original owner. I was moving up from a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. This is my first Honda van, but fourth Honda product, and they just keep getting better. The car is well ...

Jun 30 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Engine power; handling; amenities; reliability
Cons: No split rear seatback; rattles; gas mileage; noise
The Bottom Line: A very good vehicle, with reservations.

We bought our '03 Odyssey used in the summer of 2005. It was a cream puff, just 6,000 miles. We have driven it on various family trips over the past year. Its been a very good vehicle - its reliable, it handles pretty well for a van and it has a lot of ...

Pretty Nice Van

by misssmaggie
Dec 10 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Safe, easy to park, simple basic features
Cons: INTERIOR NOISE, lack of luxury features
The Bottom Line: Nice van in 2003, look at newer models for better features

I broke down and bought a mini van when my Saab became just too tiny to carry around my daughter and all of her accessories. This was a hard decision as I had vowed in my 20's that I would never drive a mini van. My first purchase was a Dodge ...

Pros: Get up and go motor. Its got spunk! Very attractive Great brakes
Cons: many blind spots! seats uncomfortable and stiff. door remotes annoying wind noise
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this car in general, however some of the problems I have experienced, has taught me, to pay more attention to things when test driving a car.

HI, I bought my minivan in late 2002. I bought it because all of my research indicated it was a safe and economical car. I love the power in the motor. It has great gitty up! I have unfortunately found way too many blind spots while driving the ...

2004 Odyssey - Put it on your list for Consideration

by dkaakd Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000
Apr 12 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Honda quality, Honda ride (if you like it), double automatic doors, nice leather seats (heated)
Cons: Spartan interior, Honda ride (if you hate it), Anemic Stereo, Boring Dash.
The Bottom Line: Great lines, dual automatic doors, and leather seats that are comfortable for almost anyone. If you are in the market for a mini-van you must consider a test drive.

Several weeks ago my SUV finally gave up. The purchasing decision I’ve dreaded for years has come and there’s no way for me to avoid it. Not only am I now faced with a new car purchase, but a mini-van no less. Yes, take pity on me I am a Mini-van-man. ...

A minivan that drivers can enjoy!

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: I like to drive, and the Odyssey doesn't rob me of that pleasure.
Cons: It is not the quietest--there is a fair amount of road noise.
The Bottom Line: If you need a larger vehicle but are afraid of minivans, you will find yourself pleasantly surprised by the Odyssey. It's worth paying sticker price.

When I was pregnant with my second child, my husband took one look at the results of the ultrasound (I didn't want to know if it was a boy or girl, but he did...) and knew that he was going to want to try at least one more time in that little ...

The once brilliant minivan

by minivandude
Dec 16 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Good package, steals enough gadgets from others while making some of its own, easy prices.
Cons: Less nimble, feels like for older people, too much wood-trim, interior dark, look is old.
The Bottom Line: For older people, it is a safe minivan. It has soft rides, can be very comfortable for long trips.

The replacement of the old 140 hp with the 210 hp was a good desision when the second gen Odyssey came out. However, the competition has been uping their goodies since then. The new Sienna is bigger, and more versatile. The 2004 Mazda MPV has a new ...

Don't Do It

by shopaholic02
Nov 14 '03 - Updated Nov 16 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Inside space
Cons: Just about everything else... And only getting 14 mpg
The Bottom Line: After owning 3 Honda's for over 100K each, I just can't recommend the van until Honda admits there are defects, and design a correction.

Bought brand new, was back in shop before 1200 miles. Stayed there 18 days & we drove rental while waiting for “Honda Tech” from Calif. Transmission slips/bucks while driving at a steady 45-55 while tachometer is jumping from 0 to 3. "Thrumming" ...

HONDA ODYSSEY PROBLEMS YOU DON'T HEAR AT DEALERSHIP !!!

by mraghu929
Nov 12 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: IT's fun to drive. Overall it's a good car
Cons: Look in the main body for more details
The Bottom Line: Not worth the money paid. Probably, waited for 2004 models, and gone for Toyota sienna or Nissan Quest or Dodge Sport caravan.

Due to the demand, dealers will rip you off, insurance is much higher than say, dodge caravan. follow the Cons section to see other serious issues. Major deal here is that it is touted to be one of the safer vans and due to adequate horses, it's fun to d ...

Happy So Far

by mwig
Nov 03 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Quiet smooth ride, good power, great use of space, overall great value!
Cons: Wish it had a compass and outside temp gauge and an accurate fuel gauge.
The Bottom Line: Great vehicle for the family, good value, albeit basic looking interior. If it holds up like my previous honda cars did, we'll be happy a long time.

Being a former windstar owner, I was excited to try the Odyssey which I had heard so much about. Initial impression was that it was very plain inside (like all honda products), but after comparing all the comparable minivans, we took the plunge and are v ...

Pros: Double power sliding doors with keyless entry, smooth ride, folding into floor third row seat
Cons: Road noise, bland gauges, no middle sliding infant seat.
The Bottom Line: Average van for the money. Lease if possible to get the feel if this van is for you.

**JANUARY 2004 REVIEW UPDATE** *I HAVE NOW LOWERED MY PREVIOUS RATING ON MY 2003 ODYSSEY. THE HEATING & COLLING SYSTEM IS BELOW AVERAGE. IF I CARRY THREE PERSONS OR MORE IN MY VAN, I HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY USE THE DEFROSTER AND REAR PASSENGERS CANNOT ...

Pros: Comfortable Ride, Easy to Use Extras
Cons: It's a minivan. :)
The Bottom Line: Honda Odyssey is the queen of minivans right now. It performs as such.

First, I don't usually review cars. I figure there are professional drivers for that. Plus, peopl ...

Pros: Everything!
