Sure, the H2 looks like a Hummer. But does it drive like a Chevy?

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Hummer character fully intact, on-road composure, off-road capability
Cons: Rear visibility, cargo capacity, spare location, cannot get second seat in third row
The Bottom Line: If you love how the H2 looks, desire that Hummer experience, and have the cash, this machine will only surprise you for the better.

The Gulf War earned the army’s HMMWV (high mobility multi-wheeled vehicle, pronounced “Humvee”) a certain mystique. This led to the development and sale of a civilian version, with acquired the military vehicle’s friendlier ...

Hummer H2 is an image

by jumperless Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500
Apr 14 '03 - Updated Oct 18 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 2.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Aggressive looks, handling, off-road capabilities
Cons: Cargo capacity, visibility, limited passenger space, gas mileage, price
The Bottom Line: It’s a big SUV with extreme looks and off-road capabilities, but not a lot of cargo space and passenger room.

The H2 was not designed and manufactured by AM General, the manufacturers of the original Hummers, but by GM instead who bought the rights to the Hummer and built their own based from the Suburban frame. I was finally overcome by my own curiosity about t ...

Absurd

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Big. Intimidating.
Cons: Lots of blind spots. Inefficient use of space.
The Bottom Line: If you need an urban tank, this is it. But really, how many of us are actually involved in urban warfare? Get a more sensible vehicle.

My wife and I drove this vehicle for a week and hated it. We can't really figure out why anyone needs this vehicle. On the upside, this thing looks really cool, and you'll intimidate all the other passenger vehicles. You have considerable room in ...

Still great after 46,000 miles!

by smart0ldguy
Feb 07 '07 - Updated Feb 09 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Style, handling, maneuverability, roominess.
Cons: 11.2 mpg Can't get in a bunch of low parking garages.
The Bottom Line: This thing puts a huge goofy smile on your face. Extremely useful and practical and easy to get around in. Just think life-sized Tonka truck.

I got the first Navigator and before that the first Tahoe. They were great. I needed something new, but everything felt so bland. My kid urged me to test drive an H2, so I did it only to humor him. I felt completely goofy. My first impression was that it ...

The ultimate 4WD vehicle - providing you know how to drive it...

by sgyee
Nov 19 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Best stock off road vehicle ever made, easy to get parts.
Cons: Not for the faint of pocketbook, plain interior, high cost to maintain.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for the ultimate stock 4x4 and are willing to use it, look no further than the H1.

The Hummer H1 - revered by some, hated by others, recognizable by all. As an actual H1 owner, I felt that it's my duty to write a review from an owner's perspective. Background - The 2003 AM General Hummer H1 is a civilian version of the United ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Looks, size, comfort, cool factor
Cons: gas mileage
The Bottom Line: BUY ONE NOW. Be prepared for cruddy gas mileage.

I was tired of my head hitting the ceiling of my LS400, so I decided it was time to get a new car. Being 6'4" and about 250 pounds I have real problems fitting in most cars comfortably.

I have always been an SUV kind of guy. I have owned...

Spent about a week with this vehicle. It wasn't altogether pleasant.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 2.0 Recommended: No

Pros: If someone dies in a collision, it probably won't be you.
Cons: Looks, room, construction quality, unwieldy handling.
The Bottom Line: Hey, if you know you want it (and you know who you are) knock yourself out.

You know my brother-in-law - or someone like him. He's the guy that will use a huge golf umbrella on crowded city streets. He's the guy who smoked cigars for the 3 year period when it was fashionable, and not a day after. He's the guy that plays golf...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: road presence, off-road capability, comfort
Cons: gas mileage
The Bottom Line: Presence, Power and Personality

I traded in my 2001 Envoy for the 2003 H2 LUX edition. Prior to the Envoy, I had a 1999 Range Rover and prior to that a 1998 Land Rover Discovery. If you want to be noticed (which may be a con, dependent on your personality) and have real command on...

A Quantum Leap But Still Short

by gharding
Oct 04 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Style Points, quiet, off-road capabilities
Cons: Somewhat cheap design, slow, gas mileage
The Bottom Line: Overall it is a quantum leap over the prior version but it still lacks in the basic concept of a true street ready vehicle…

Outside of going to war in Iraq I see little use for the off-road capabilities of the Hummer. When it gets right down to it the overall purpose of a vehicle is to get you from point A to point B in comfort and style. Now the Hummer definitely gives you...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A real head turner
Cons: so-called 3rd row seat is a joke
The Bottom Line: If driving the biggest, baddest, meanest looking thing gets you excited this is just the vehicle for you.

Just attended the unveiling of the new H2 Hummer at the local dealer. This vehicle appears to be everything that the man in the street Hummer enthusiast would want (vs the H1 which was what the man in uniform wanted). Well, almost anyway. With the spare...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Lots of space, Huge
Cons: Gas Mileage
The Bottom Line: If you want space, comfort, and luxury - this is what you have been waiting for!

We began looking for a replacement for our Ford Explorer Sport about a year ago. We wanted four doors (our car only had 2) and we needed more room. We have had great experiences with Porsche in the past, so when we heard that they were coming out with...

Coolest Rig on the Street

by psycko
Mar 04 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Cool factor. Very comfortable. Awesome stereo. Chevy/GMC Truck Quality. Caddy comfort and ride.
Cons: Gas Mileage. Spare tire comes inside. Height.
The Bottom Line: If this size is manageable and gas mileage is not an issue, I wouldn't want to drive anything else on the road.

If you don't like staring, don't get this vehicle. This is a babe magnet. It is really comfortable. It has one of the best stock stereos I have ever heard and I used to install aftermarket stereos. Very sold feeling and handles very well. Gas mileage...

Great truck needs more towing

by argann
May 08 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable, stable, creature comforts
Cons: Needs a diesel, only tows 7k
The Bottom Line: Bigger motor would put this over the top and well worth it. It will last 20 years even if you take it to war.

The only issue I had was towing. Get rid of the extra dead weight, add a diesel or the 6.6L or as an option. I paid 30k for my Ford which tows 700 more and a lot faster. Other than that it is a solid truck, I was driving in 40 mph winds and you...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: New vehicle, Driver friendly
Cons: Cost, Just a big Yukon
The Bottom Line: If you can afford it get it

When I first saw the H2 in a Automotive magazine I thought I've got to have it. Upon further inspection and test driving I found this vehicle to be a toyed down version of its predicesor the the H1. This vehicle is made on the same frame as a Gmc...

H2 - The future of SUVs

by JGroetsch
Nov 09 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great look
Cons: Great look
The Bottom Line: New SUV

Look around you whenever you drive down the street. It seems like all of the SUVs out there have a similar look, whether it be the size of them, their shape, the body style, or whatever else. Hummer actually changed this big time with the H2, a new...
