Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: V6 engine, plush interior, nice exterior, great warranty, lots of extras, good price.
Cons: Muddy speakers, “floaty” ride.
The Bottom Line: No matter how nice it is, it’s still a Hyundai. If you can see past the italic ‘H,’ you might be pleased with what you discover.

Well, it looks like I’m not the only one with a new car in the house anymore. After weeks of envyin ...

Sep 17 '03 - Updated Sep 20 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Roomy, big trunk, comfortable, great warranty
Cons: I personally don't like 4 door cars.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a new car to purchase, give the Sonata a look.

Introduction My wife and I took a trip to the Seattle area and arrived realizing we had not made a rental car reservation. When we got over to the rental car counters, every booth had a long line except for a few. We stopped at the Dollar booth ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A lot of car for the money- well equipped, smooth ride, good fit/finish.
Cons: styling a bit derivative. could use a sport package
The Bottom Line: I recommend this mid-level luxury sedan for its exceptional value. The most car for the money in its class.

My wife is car shopping so we've driven a lot of vehicles in the $28-35K (Canadian) range lately- some new, some newish-used/ex-lease. This price range gets us into a pretty competitive bracket - all the cars we tried were V6, most with full load...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great value, loads of extras, reliable.
Cons: Uneven powerband, back seat room, but I'm nitpicking
The Bottom Line: A good car at a great price. You won't believe what you get for your money.

I'd been looking at the Hyundai products for some time because of the increased product quality I saw in other Koren products. I knew there was a huge difference between a well built car and, say, a well built computer monitor. But I saw quality gains on ...

Sonata's Soothing Effect on Mind and Wallet

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Warranty, safety, comfort, amenities
Cons: Should all be 6-cylinders.
The Bottom Line: You'll be comfortable physically, financially, and mentally with this solid choice with good performance.

Around a year ago I began researching cars as my 1992 Saturn was going to start needing expensive repairs. I wanted fuel efficiency, "get up and go," and safety. Because I'm part of the large number of Americans who are large Americans, I realized that ...

Doesn't hold up cosmetically

by justjfer

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 2.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Cheapest V-6 out there and 5 year bumper to bumper warranty
Cons: They really cut corners on cosmetic parts of the car
The Bottom Line: Cosmetically inferior car that doesnt hold up

I was soooooo pleased when I initially got this car. The 2003 model has similar stylings to the Jaguar and I felt it was such a good deal at the time. Four and a half years later, I am about to put it up for sale as I don't want to be caught holding ...

Great car for the money

by guititon
Aug 25 '08

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Cheap, dependable, a lot of features for the cost.
Cons: Door handles, all of them. The finish flakes off.
The Bottom Line: This car has been great - 130000 trouble free miles. I can't say the same for other cars I have owned (all US made before this).

We bought the four cylinder model new. It was funny, when we bought it the dealer was telling us all the features and I told him I didn't want electric windows, mirrors, CD player and all the other stuff he was listing, I wanted a cheap car. And he told ...

Good Deal for a lot of Car

Sep 16 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth, Quiet Ride. Good acceleration. Ample room. Nice styling. Affordable. Great Warranty.
Cons: Cheap stereo System. Some controls aren't easily accessible. Hang On! handle on Drivers side sucks.
The Bottom Line: Definitely a good car for the price compared to other models of the same class. I would recommend it.

I was shopping for a good car for 4 months as my 1996 Windstar with 150K miles was to the point that plugging money into refurbishing it outweighed the resale value. I had my eyes set on a set budget and knew I had to buy used. I was eyeing up some 1 ye ...

Sonata - Junk for the price!

Aug 18 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Comfortable interior, CD player, nice dash layout
Cons: Ride, engine problems, paint, shocks, etc
The Bottom Line: Stay away from this car, it has to many problems and it's VERY slow. Not worth the warranty as they don't seem to want to honor most of it.

Paint on car chips easy, not enough layers, car floats to much on large bumps, to many engine proble ...

Happy with the car

Jan 04 '05 - Updated Jan 06 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: engine, styling, quality, value (loaded with features)
Cons: climate controls, air conditioning, customer service
The Bottom Line: I enjoy driving this car and would recommend it. I would also recommend the V6 engine.

I am very happy with my Sonata, with a few minor exceptions. After a few thousand mile break-in, the V6 is very peppy. The car leans a little on exit ramps but I admit I take them faster than I should. I like the exterior and interior styling. ...

Pros: Comfortable, nice styling, quiet
Cons: none really
The Bottom Line: I recommend the car because of its reliability, quiet ride and creature comforts - all at a good price.

I write this review about my 2003 V6 Hyundai Sonata after owning it for about a year and a half and putting about 13,000 miles on it. I can report that I have had zero problems with the car. Other than routine maintenance, nothing has gone wrong with ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Compares nicely with other high-end luxury cars at a very affordable price.
Cons: It's South Korean roots.
The Bottom Line: One of the best cars out there for people who want all the bells and whistles without the cost.

After attending the 2002 Auto Show in Detroit, I changed my mind about Hyundai. I was able to sit inside many different models of cars from domestics to imports and luxury models. I was disappointed at the lack of style on many instrument panels....

Pros: Price,appearance,warranty and smooth ride!
Cons: V6 needs more power
The Bottom Line: I really recommend anyone to get this car it's a great ride and with the warranty you can't go wrong. This car is amazingly beautiful inside out.

This car looks and rides like a high priced car it's seats are very comfortable and there is plenty of space for five people to sit comfortably. The trunk is huge so if your looking for good trunk space this car has it. The ride is very smooth and quiet...

Pros: Sun roof, easy maintenance, comfort, great on gas, fun drive, large trunk, great deal
Cons: Would need to purchase an extended warranty.
The Bottom Line: This car has served me well - Highly recommend.

I got my Sonata used in 06, at which time it had about 50,700 miles on it. The previous owners had left this car in immaculate condition, everything about the car told me that it was well taken care of. The Hyundai dealership I bought it from has ...
