Pros: good looks, great 4WD, solid, relatively roomy, powerful Cons: bad fuel economy, frequent trips to the gas station, cheap-looking steel wheels, weird transmission The Bottom Line: I definitely recommend this vehicle because after a year of ownership, and with 80,000 miles, this car is still running very strongly and reliably.
The exterior of this vehicle was at least 50% of the reason why I bought it. I like the fact that it comes across as one those "cute utes," but actually has real off-road ability. Plus, it blends in, so the cops don't notice you :)Before I bought ... read more

Pros: Good gas mileage, good looks, depreciates fast, lots of head room, FAST acceleration Cons: Uncomfortable seats in long drives, bad placement of pedals due to trans 'hump' The Bottom Line: The looks and feel sold me on this vehicle. I would recommend you drive one for a few hours before buying to see if the seats will agree with you.
I bought this jeep a couple weeks ago. We bought it because our 'commuter' truck gets 12 mpg and we wanted a gas saver but needed a four wheel drive that would commute in the snowy mountains every day and needed something I would fit into since I'm six ... read more

Pros: Roomy interior and a compact new age style. Cons: Cheap looking interior panels, passenger foot room is compromised due to the transmission tunnel. The Bottom Line: An exceptionally well priced SUV with no problems thus far.
On our search for a used SUV there were several options that I was considering. The Jeep Liberty, Ford Escape, Chevrolet Trailblazer, and the Mazda Tribute. They all were within our price range. We found our 2003 Jeep Liberty and we liked it from the ... read more

Pros: Handles well, feels very sturdy. Has a lot of weight for a small truck. Cons: Drinks a lot of gas. The Bottom Line: I would recommend this truck for its looks and reliability despite the fact that it drinks a lot of gas.
I love my '03 Liberty Limited Edition. Although it is an '03 I got it in January of '04. He drinks a lot of gas, that is why I named it BABYGUZ short for GUZZLER. In spite of that I get 7 days from a tank. Thank GOD I can use regular gasoline. This is my ... read more

Pros: Legendary Jeep ruggedness; powerful engine; great traction in snow. Cons: Twitchy handling; idiots who call it a "chick SUV". The Bottom Line: I recommend the Liberty without hesitation. It's hands down the most reliable and durable vehicle I've ever owned.
We bought our 2003 Liberty Sport 4WD in February 2004 as a dealer leftover. We had been looking at a Ford Escape but Ford had no dealer incentives at the time and Jeep was offering $2000 rebates on the '03 Liberty as well as a military discount (I'm a ... read more

Pros: Responsive power, Cool looks, Excellent off-road capability. Cons: Cheap cloth seats. Position of window buttons inconvenient. The Bottom Line: The liberty is a rugged off-roader and a comfortable daily use SUV. If you are buying a 4-wheel drive, then go for the full time 4WD system.
My 4-wheel drive Liberty Sport now has 28k miles on it. I bought it used in December of 2004. I drive this vehicle every day and about half of the mileage I've put on has been highway miles. I have no real complaints! It has the 3.7 liter V6 engine ... read more

Pros: Reliable (except in parking lots), rugged, good design, fun to drive, very roomy. Cons: No traction lock. Even in 4WD, can get stuck if one side has no traction. The Bottom Line: Great merge between an off-road vehicle and a street vehicle. Right between the WRANGLER and CHEROKEE.
