Pros: Handling, Standard amenities, Price of most options. Cons: Acceleration, Interior design. The Bottom Line: If you are in the market for a 4-cylinder sports sedan the Mazda6i is worth a test drive.
Mazda has always been sort of a shadow in the family car market. While cars like Accord, Taurus, Grand Am, and Camry all had their claims to fame, the late Mazda 626 meant nothing but 3 meaningless numbers to most consumers. For 2003 Mazda has ...

Pros: Great steering and handling, tasteful in and out, good power with the six, price Cons: Four lacks power, ride The Bottom Line: The best moderately-priced midsize sedan for the enthusiast.
Ive been looking forward to driving the Mazda 6 for about two years now, ever since I learned that the replacement for the entirely forgettable 626 would be worthy of the zoom zoom tagline. Or so Mazdas advance P.R. claimed. Would it ...

Pros: 100% fun, truly a blast to drive. Very well made, and feels it. Cons: "Mazda Deception"; base price is very reasonable, but options are misleadingly "package" based The Bottom Line: A true all-star - Mazda has put the fun and sportiness back into sports sedans and has done it for ALOT CHEAPER! Way to go Mazda! Zoom Zoom!
I couldn't help but start with such a cheesy title! After all, cornball as it may sound, it doesn't get any truer; this is a true "comeback" year in the automotive industry... Perhaps one can cite the hurting economy -- Car manufacturers are starving,...

Pros: Peppy engine, well-planned features, sporty handling Cons: Interior materials, packages make getting options harder and more expensive, rare manual/V6 combo The Bottom Line: The Accord is still a good buy, but the Mazda 6 is a welcome change from the "vanilla" of the family market and just as good.
In the recent decade, sedan manufacturers have been involved in two indirect competitions. The first contest is to see which manufacturer can top the rest when it comes to a typical $20-25K family sedan. The second contest is to see if anyone can...

Pros: strong engine, lots of features, sporty looks Cons: comfort, first year bugs, "numb" steering The Bottom Line: Definitely looks more sporty than it is, yet then again this car would match so many peoples ego's.
Let me first start off by saying this is not my car, it is my mothers and figuring that I have driven it for a few weeks at a time, and rode in it quite a bit, I feel I have spent enough time with the car to form my opinions and share it with you. This ...

Pros: Outstanding handling and steering, lusty V6, tasteful styling, roomy and comfortable, well crafted interior Cons: Options packages are frustrating for now, and where are the wagon and hatch models??? The Bottom Line: Mazda has hit a grand slam home run. The 6 is a no compromises high quality sport sedan with the comfort and convenience of a family car.
Many sedan shoppers may have forgotten about Mazda over the past few years. Why you may ask? The reason is quite simple: Mazda was trying to be Honda and Toyota. While it's easy for those manufactures to produce mass market conservative...

Pros: Styling, driving experience Cons: "First year" issues, rust problems The Bottom Line: I recommend this car with reservations. I am particularly worried about the rust problem and how Mazda plans to rectify this.
I purchased a 2003 Mazda6i on May 19, 2003. My car is Redfire Metallic with an automatic transmission and premium package (alloy wheels and power driver's seat). I chose this car over the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Camry largely due to the su ...

Pros: Excellent handling, sleek design, quality interior, decent 4-cylinder power Cons: RUST! New model problems, option packaging, firm ride (to some) The Bottom Line: Although this is a wonderful car to drive, multiple problems and possible rusting make this a no-go. Want one? Wait a couple of years.
I purchased this 2003 Mazda6 i in San Diego, CA on July 18, 2003. The MSRP was $20,000 and I paid $16,900 after dealer discounts and manufacturer rebates. Following are this vehicle's major specifications and options: **2003 Mazda6 i** 2.3L DOHC I-4 ...

Pros: Handling, brakes, steering, and styling that will make your heart race. Cons: Could use more low-end torque, hard to find with a manual and a V6. The Bottom Line: If you value the "sport" side of a sports sedan, you can't really go wrong with this car.
So new car time came a-knockin' and I had a few definite ideas in mind when it came to what I wanted to make payments on for the next five years. :) First, it had to at least have the IDEA that it was a sports car. Secondly, it simply HAD to have a ...

Pros: BMW-like handling at around 25K loaded, terrific looks Cons: Somewhat questionable build quality in some minor areas The Bottom Line: Great car for the enthusiast driver who needs four doors and can't afford buying/fixing a Bimmer.
I bought one of the first Mazda6s available in the US in late November of last year. Options: V6, Bose, sunroof, leather, comfort, auto. I paid 23K (about 1800 off sticker). I consider that to be an excellent deal for such a terrific car. As several ...

Pros: High level of standard equipment. Great handling. Cons: Uninspired power train. Seat fabric. The Bottom Line: I would purchase this car again because of it's unique styling and bias towards handling over predictability.
This review pertains to the 2003 Mazda 6i Automatic. Ive owned all kinds of sporty cars and SUVs, but there is something to be said for a small four door sedan. The driving effort is low, and its small enough to be maneuverable, yet large enough ...

Pros: Sharp steering, suspension holds roads and soaks up bumps, quiet interior Cons: Busy center stack and steering wheel, options are a Gordian knot The Bottom Line: I recommend that anybody searching for a competent sedan that doesn't wear the angled-H or circle-T check out the 6. But be prepared to play the options package shell game.

Caveat: I didn't even ask the dealer for a quote on what I tested as it had nothing but V6 and manual tranny.

Pros: European quality finish, quiet powerful engine, adequate interior room, and a huge trunk. Cons: Packages are not well-defined and makes additonal options expensive, confusing. The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend Mazda6 over Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Nissan Altima. European-quality car at an affordable price.
Smaller than the competition, but sportier
Mazda's replacement for the 626, the new Mazda6, has been a long time coming - at least it seems that way. It was introduced to the rest of the world more than a year ago. Mazda Canada could have...
