Beautiful but missing that special something

by mkaresh mkaresh is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10
Mar 24 '03 - Updated Oct 18 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Beautiful in and out, great performance, driving position, leading-edge technology
Cons: Uninvolving, small tach, tighter than expected rear seat
The Bottom Line: For me, beautiful styling and advanced technology cannot compensate for the pedestrian interior ambiance, distant driving feel, and high price.

Better is not necessarily better. I first noticed this with cars about fifteen years ago with a 1988 Mazda MX-6 test drive. Compared to other front-wheel-drive cars I’d driven, this then new Mazda was clearly possessed a superior chassis. For one ...

ML320: The Surprisingly Affordable and Luxurious SUV from Mercedes-Benz

by mrkstvns, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50
Nov 22 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A Benz in the driveway for under $40K
Cons: $40K here, $40K there, sooner or later it adds up to real money
The Bottom Line: ML320 is a stylish, sophisticated SUV that's truck like enough to be taken seriously -- if you ever do take it off road.

Are you in the market for a sport utility vehicle? Any SUV?

If you're thinking that an SUV would be a mighty fine addition to your driveway, you might want to take a good, hard look at the Mercedes Benz ML320, even if you think that a...

Fun and Affordable

by pvreditor, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200
Mar 15 '03 - Updated Mar 16 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Peppy and smooth engine; sporty handling
Cons: Poor rear seat space; expensive electronic key
The Bottom Line: The Mercedes driving experience costs less than I was expecting... and it is a fine experience.

This review is based on a 20-minute test drive of the Mercedes C230 Kompressor Sports Coupe.

I got a card in the mail offering me a $75 Amazon gift certificate if I took a test drive in a C230 at the neighborhood Mercedes dealer, and that was...

Beautifully Designed Luxury

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Best looking mid-sized Mercedes to come down the pike in decades.
Cons: A bit sluggish off the line.
The Bottom Line: I really like this car. It drives wonderfully and it's luxurious without being flashy.

The E320 is my fourth Mercedes sedan. My first and favorite was a 1968 250S. It was an absolute classic. Wonderfully rich interior, excellent handling, but a bit underpowered. The body style was instantly recognizable as a Mercedes with a slight Pagoda ...

The New Bimmer?

by carnut2k4 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500
Jul 23 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A very well mannered European sports sedan.
Cons: Price swells over 40K when you add the essential toys. So what it's worth it!
The Bottom Line: It's main competition is the BMW3, the Audi A4 and maybe the G35. They all have stronger and weaker points but none offer the complete package like this one does!

I absolutely love this car! Now that you see I have no bias, I will proceed with my fair and balanced review... EXTERIOR With a much needed face lift in 2001 the baby Benz finally got past that awkward, gawky adolescent phase. That's when I first ...

Because I'm Ezzzyyy, Ezzzzyyy like the summers rain.

Mar 23 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Excellent turn of shape to introduce modern styling and design.
Cons: Rather thirsty on fuel and a tadge difficult to park
The Bottom Line: I would buy this car but would wait until she was a couple of years old to save a bit of money.

Eager anticipation awaits any model that the mainstream prestige car manufacturers decide to rip apart and start again. What was once an extra soon becomes standard. What we dropped our jaws at, we now barely bat an eyelid. So how can a company, such as ...

Finally, a Mercedes for the masses

by gottum_m
Sep 12 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Big bang for the bucks, Safety, Cheap Insurance, 4-year free maintenance, powerful V4
Cons: CD player is a premium, Heavy Steering, 4matic limited to higher end
The Bottom Line: C230 is a better alternative to BMW 325i or Lexus IS300.

This review is on a 2004 C230 Sports Sedan. We got it two weeks ago and drove it for about 500 miles and this review is based on our experience. The 2004 category in epinions does not list this car, and hence I am placing my review here in 2003 cat ...

Safety, technology, and luxury, All rolled into one.

Nov 29 '02 - Updated Jan 05 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: High tech everywhere. MB exclusiveness. Safety galore.
Cons: Price, kinda looks like a C-Class from the rear.
The Bottom Line: This car deserves to be named E.

The 2003 E-Class is full of surprises. Like the other cars I test, I am only given only about 2-3 days time to evaluate a vehicle.

After my time with this car, to say that I did not want to give it up is a complete understatement. This is a...

Great car but lawnmower exhaust and handling on snow need work

by mysecretavatar
Dec 11 '03 - Updated Sep 15 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth ride, tons of safety features, quiet ride (with windows closed).
Cons: Lawnmower exhaust sounds, supercharger whine, poor handling on snow, needs more power.
The Bottom Line: This car is recommended for top safety, good handling, smooth ride and decent power. This is no hotrod but it is a nice, affordable way to try a Mercedes.

I originally posted this review under "2003 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor Sedan" page but there is a problem with accessing that listing. Therefore, I posted it under this updated listing for 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class AND I HAVE DELETED MY REVIEW FROM ...

by j6494
Mar 19 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: a mercedes for under $30,000; lots of standard features
Cons: cockpit a bit tight; some controls hard to get at
The Bottom Line: great car with lots of standard features; nice ride; this is still a Mercedes, even though it is only around $30K

This has been a great car so far. There are lots of standard features, both for convenience and for safety. These include: dual climate control zones, automatic locks and power windows, alarm system, ABS, traction control with electronic slip...

Four Season C240 4Matic Sedan

by jbratek Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000
Dec 02 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Permament 4WD, Mercedes Safety & Luxury, Highway Comfort
Cons: 3-Month Wait, Non-negotiable MSRP, No In-Dash CD Player
The Bottom Line: For class-leading comfort, luxury, and safety, the C240 4Matic Sedan offers the best value for your money.

When I began shopping for a new car recently, I had pretty much narrowed-down my decision to a couple of cars even before I stepped foot into a dealership. My maximum budget was $450/month and, leaning towards a lease, this could translate into quite a...

2003 MB E320: So much potential squandered

by trustmeonthis
Dec 08 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 2.0 Recommended: No

Pros: New styling, awesome options available
Cons: Impotent, dumb dash design
The Bottom Line: Impotent Engine, baffling dash. Look to Infiniti or Lexus for salvation.

The Potential
The E320 was fully redesigned for 2003. And it shows in spades. It's a very fresh and spritely looking exterior redesign for an auto series that's been fairly conservative. You can visit www.mbusa.com/e320 to view the exterior,...

Still Love my C-230K! - UPDATED 5/17/04

by karencpnp
Dec 30 '02 - Updated May 17 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: The look, acceleration, handling, and fun of driving STILL can't be beat!
Cons: STILL expensive to replace 17 inch Z-rated tires after 26,000 miles.
The Bottom Line: MB has done it all - a superb machine at a relatively low cost, without sacrificing quality, or the prestige of the name.

I've owned "lil emmy" (my 11-year old daughter named 'her' that, to differentiate from my husband's benz ("big emmy") for 2 1/2 years, and I still love going out to get in it! I have had to have left front shock towers struts replaced, twice, on the ...

Pros: Strong and safe like a bank vault. Standard Nav system. Price.
Cons: Sound system volume control VERY inconveniently palced
The Bottom Line: Luxurious but sporty ride. Excellent value for money.

2003 ML 350 Inspiration Edition - M-B finally got it right!

by sgyllenborg
Jan 03 '03 - Updated Feb 14 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Lots of power, fantastic transmission, great sound from Bose sound system.
Cons: Ergonomics of sound system controls, lack of sound system/climate control adjustment on steering wheel.
The Bottom Line: Mercedes-Benz fixed the problems of earlier M-Class models, upgraded the interior, engine, wheels and tires, and packaged it at an affordable price. What's not to love?

The new ML350 Inspiration Edition is a wonderful vehicle, and exactly what I need, so I bought one. I read the reviews of the M-Class posted on many Web sites, and I can tell you that the 2003 ML350 Inspiration Edition has none of the foibles of the...
