2003 Vibe GT

by nochain66
Jun 7, 2011 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: tons and tons of room, great engine, majority of the car works great
Cons: what does go wrong is $$$$ or is very annoying
The Bottom Line: I love my car despite the problems and would stand behind it, but do find it hard to suggest it over a mazda3 or other such estate cars

-I bought this car for college since i needed more room to move in and out, I also bike and ski and need the room to transport my equipment. I bought the car in 2005 with 18,000 miles.I now have 65,000 miles on it, I have had constant problems with the ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good fuel economy, excellent handling
Cons: noisy, rides a little harshly
The Bottom Line: I'd buy it again, the price is good for what you get

We have a 2003 Vibe and are very pleased with it: Features: 1) all-wheel-drive: This has got to be the most stable vehicle I've ever driven in heavy snow. I've driven much heavier front-wheel drives, rear-wheel drives, and even 4wd vehicles in the ... read more

Jun 24, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great space, excellent gas mileage, rack capability.
Cons: Ride, visibility--but not enough to worry about.
The Bottom Line: Every vehicle is a compromise. This vehicle is my ultimate compromise. I wish I could buy two and store one for when the first wears out. Buy it!

If you're on this page, you're already at a place where the dimensions, color options, specifications, and features of this car are well described. I have set out to give you a summary of this car which is now 1) Three years old; 2) Purchased used; 3) ... read more

I'm not feeling the Vibe!

by carproblem
Dec 31, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: comfy seats, nice look, few blind spots for shorter people
Cons: noisy, problems with rear end of car, poor service
The Bottom Line: I don't recommend the Vibe. Based on numerous reviews, conversations, and my own problems with the car, it is noisy, handles poorly, and is poorly made. Read my review.

I started leasing my Vibe in 2003. I loved it. The seats were very comfortable, it had a nice interior, it was very sporty for a hatch, and for someone only 5'5", I had few blind spots. I was told that the poor gas mileage would improve as the engine ... read more

Great little car - Highly recommend

Oct 18, 2005 - Updated Oct 21, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Cost, mileage, interior volume, value for money
Cons: Haven't found any after 2 and a half years.
The Bottom Line: What a great little car. We love it. Ultra reliable and comfortable, great on mileage and has lots of room. If you want to drag race look elsewhere.

If you need a fuel efficient, comfy, relatively spacious mini-SUV, this car is for you. We have the base model with the 5-speed. I added the side airbags and ABS for safety. We currently have about 33000 miles on it and haven't had a single ... read more

Good car for the money

by loonylunar
Oct 13, 2005 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: AWD is good. Good MPG. Decent interior space. Good car for price.
Cons: Radio volume should have smaller increments. Interior scratches easily.
The Bottom Line: If you want a newer yet affordable AWD car this (or the matrix) is the way to go.

I've had the 2003 Pontiac Vibe with AWD (I live in Ohio) since February 2005. It has given me no major troubles. The interior does scratch easy and the engine is no Nascar, but it's not supposed to be. I think the only thing I really dislike is ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Zippy, great cargo capacity, very reliable! Comfy for those long road trips.
Cons: None! Perfect for me!
The Bottom Line: Good for on-the-move people who need to cargo carry occasionally. Zippy enough for Atlanta/Los Angeles/DC/NYC traffic even loaded with people and gear. GREAT ROAD TRIP CAR!

I was given the 2003 Pontiac Vibe Base Automatic Model as a college graduation gift. It's two tone silver with the plastic moldings. It has the power package with moon roof and upgraded sound system. LOVE IT! I'm a yuppie. Young Urban ... read more

Jan 24, 2005 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Handles very well (AWD), perfect size, good gas mileage. Definitely recommend it!
Cons: "Standard" tires; paint; not much power; "minor" problems
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this vehicle to my friends. The problems I have had with mine are things I consider to be minor. Hopefully, that will continue once warranty is passed.

I purchased my 2003 in September 2002. My children had seen a preview car at the XGames in 2001 and told me "We have found the perfect car for you!" I have the AWD version since I live in WV, with moon & tunes package, and found it to be ideal for my ... read more

Pros: handling,roomy,sporty,built by Toyota
Cons: slippery cargo area, position steering wheel
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended. Versatile, solid, affordable and it looks nice too!

We needed a new vehicle because our little Toyota Corolla was to small to haul the kids around, after thorough research it came down to the Vibe or the Matrix. After finding out that in Canada the Matrix doesn't come with ABS we drove the Vibe and really ... read more

Pros: Concept of the car is excellent
Cons: GM lack of quality manufacturing.
The Bottom Line: I would never recommend this car.

Purchased my 2004 Vibe (brand new) in May of 04 and it has been problematic since day 1. Day 1: Driving home in the rain just after I picked up the car and noticed water dripping onto my left arm. Not just a little water, a lot. Yes the windows were ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Handling, comfort, economy, nice quality, versatile
Cons: Poor rear vision, annoying design quirks
The Bottom Line: Definitely worth buying if you want comfort, versatility, economy and handling

I bought my 2003 AWD Vibe after having an unfortunate parting with my 2002 FWD Tracker (read here: black ice & a drainage ditch). Somewhat shaken and nervous, I decided to opt for a vehicle with more of a car feel yet still have the SUV advantages. ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: fuel economy, stability (AWD version), comfortable, affordable
Cons: not a lot of power, on the small side, noisy engine
The Bottom Line: Recommended buy for a small family looking for an affordable first-time new car purchase.

We've owned the Vibe for about a year and a half now and have had absolutely NO issues with it. It's always been reliable, the traction control/AWD and ABS systems perform wonderfully in the slushy/snowy/icy winters of central NY State. The shape of ... read more

Pros: Fuel-Efficient, Toyota engineered engine, safety ratings, and fun to drive
Cons: Instrument Panel hard to read sometimes with sunshine glare
The Bottom Line: Are you looking for a great ride, fuel-efficiency, comfort, an overall quality Toyota made car, and many extras? Look no further because the Vibe has all that and more.

Update: 4/2008 We still love this car, and the gas mileage is a great feature with oil spiking to over $100 a barrel. We haven't had any problems, and the car is still like brand new. We keep it maintained regularly. We would buy another in a ... read more

Pros: Handling in winter; price; gas mileage; spacious room - fold down seats X 3
Cons: Hard to find certain things to fit into the A/C adapter.
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this car, especially to young families just starting out! :-)

I'm thinking previous posters may not know how to drive in the snow? or on slippery road conditions? I have had my Vibe for almost 1 year. It will be one year in February 2004. *Knock on wood* so far things are great!! :-) I live in the ... read more

A Toyota in Pontiac clothing! Outstanding Vehicle!

by t5rider
Dec 9, 2003 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good Gas Mileage, Comfortable, A Reliable Toyota Motor in a Pontiac Skin.
Cons: Paint Needs some added durability, Rear cargo cover looks cheap-at times a hassle
The Bottom Line: Good value for money. Good gas mileage, more cargo room than in a sedan. Very comfortable on all journeys.

We have had our vibe for a month now, and have had the opportunity to log a thousand miles in it. I did the research on the vehicle before purchasing it, and most people liked it, with a few disliking the "Engine Noise" and lack of "pep" in the 130HP ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Navigation system, storage spaces, position of gear shift, Looks great
Cons: Cheap parts and construction, bad clutch design, MPG is about 7-8 less than on sticker.
The Bottom Line: Don't buy unless you are an occasional driver (8k or less per year) It will not hold up

Bought Vibe GT in Oct 2002. In Sept after 25,000 miles the clutch went out and the entire assembly had to replaced. Pontiac would not and did not cover it. Cost $986.00. The clutch plate is TINY, no wonder it wore out. The body is like plastic and ... read more

Why vibe?

by bustersball
Oct 27, 2003 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Extreme amount of storage space/nooks, and stylish looking body. Easy entry/exit of vehicle.
Cons: No dash guages until turned on, when sun hits dash visablitlity of gages is compermised.
The Bottom Line: why go for a knockoff - more $ and less warranty when u can get the same thing around the corner Under a better auto maker for less $/better warranty?

I have test driven both the 2004 Vibe and 2004 Matrix and have to ask the question......why would u go with the Vibe when it costs more and has less warranty than the Toyota Matrix. Doesn't make much sence to me. I have driven every CUV and wagon availa ... read more
