Pros: Incredibly powerful, excellent engineering, very comfortable Cons: CD charger, rear folding seats, excessive tire wear The Bottom Line: Hewn from a rock, designed by true engineers, brutally efficient - the SUV for the car enthusiast.
I had committed to buying a Porsche Cayenne Turbo before it had even been out on the market. I was concerned about the photos I had seen of it and was not sure the looks would work for me. Even so, the promise of Porsche engineering in an SUV was enough ...

Pros: Silky smooth luxurious comfort and operation with performance and ute-ability. Cons: turbo lag, minor electrical issues, steering wheel shake, no mp3 The Bottom Line: I'd buy it again since it is fun and comfortable. If you don't mind the gas mileage and you like the looks and you're not too critical of it's flaws.
I wanted to post a review and impressions of my 2005 Porsche Cayenne Turbo after having it for 6-weeks and 6000 miles now. First of all I still enjoy the car and am happy that I have it even though I came from a late model Corvette convertible hoping to ...

Pros: Nicely sorted handling for a SUV
Porsche-level quality Cons: Esthetics
Gas consumption The Bottom Line: If you are shopping for an SUV and can stand the looks, it might be one of the best picks.
Given the credentials of the brand, expectations set on this rather massive piece of automotive machinery are rather high, and the Cayenne pretty much meets them. Provided that owning an SUV ranks at the highest of your car choice criteria. Before gett ...

Pros: Nice handling, luxurious, aggressive acceleration, polite staff [although ineffective] Cons: Horrible electrical system, faulty maintenance, ill-prepared mechanics, mechanical insufficiencies, door locks suck The Bottom Line: NEVER buy this car. If you do, please do yourself a favor and move next door to the dealership; your car will be spending a lot of time there ...
After waiting 4 months [including several weeks of unanticipated delays; it was supposed to be here 11/25] for my 2004 Porsche Cayenne Twin turbo, I was initially excited to take possession of it late december [12/20] 2003. It was special ordered from ...

Pros: Drives like a Porsche
Great mix of utility and performance Cons: Pricey
Most necessary features are add-on options The Bottom Line: If you need space and the comfort of on/off road capabiliites, PLUS want the driving experience of a sports car - there is nothing else like the Cayenne.
I recently went out and test drove three cars that I had finally narrowed my selection down to...the Cayenne S, the Touareg V8 and the Range Rover Td6 HSE. The Land Rover was quickly ruled out as I could only afford a decently spec'd Td6 and crawling ...

Pros: I'm trying to think of one....really. Cons: "You're cornering the car too hard...we don't have a tire wear problem." The Bottom Line: Dealers on the company's intranet are complaining about excessive tire wear on customers cars, and are frustrated with the lack of resolution. Don't make Porsche's growing pains yours.
"Zitrone" is German for "lemon." It should not be a surprise to Dr. Wendelin Weideking, president of Porsche in Stuttgart, that Cayenne sales are down 20% from the previous year. It's certainly no surprise to me. Mr. Schneider from Porsche Cars of North ...

Pros: The greatest Family Car ever Cons: $$$ The Bottom Line:
If you can somehow afford it, buy it.
If you can't, don't test drive it (I made that mistake)
Once you have kids running around your house your car requirements get very different, no more two seaters, no more convertibles ...
The Porsche Cayenne is simply the greatest people hauler around, it has nothing to do with an SUV,...

You'll never have to clean this car!

Pros: Handles very well. Cons: It is a service nightmare -- always in the shop!
Why... because most Porsche Dealers offer complimentary washes when your car is in service. My car is spotless because it is always in service! I have owned many cars... BMW's, Mercedes, American SUV and nothing... nothing has been a bigger headache and service nightmare than my Cayenne. Two months of ownership... 18 days in service for a wide variety of problems. Everything from door locks to windshield wipers to rattles to engine lights have plagued me with this car. I would not recommend even considering this car unless you are prepared to have the car in service most of the time. Truly a nightmare!

Good handling, annoying glitches and tires

Pros: Excellent handling on dry roads. Acceleration is fast, even without the turbo version. Cons: Abysmal handling in snow. Annoying electronic glitches imply poor quality control.
I bought the 2004 Cayenne S in December 2003. By far the worst aspect of this car is Porsche's insistence on equipping it with soft Z-rated tires, even in New England in December. Beware, the car is absolutely unsafe in the snow with stock tires! Inside, the ergonomics are fine, especially if you're already a Porsche aficionado. Interior room is no more than adequate. The ride is a bit harsh for American tastes, but that's the price you pay for exemplary handling for an SUV. Other glitches and features: I found that the remote ignition key often fails; even when it does work you must stand within 10 of the car. Forget using it to find your car in a parking lot. The rear hatchback often springs open at odd times, necessitating a stop and a manual re-closing. The GPS navigation system compares poorly to Toyota's for usability: very non-intuitive. Finally, the car occasionally stalls when it's cold.

Porsche = Poor Quality

Pros: Looks Pretty in Park Cons: It's always at the dealer being serviced
I bought a Cayenne S 7/03. It's by the far the worst car decision I ever made. My 1st and last Porsche. Continuous recurring technical issue. Every one in the service dept knows me by 1st name! The loaner car program offered by Porsche gets me a Ford Focus from Enterprise. Alignment issues from day one and tires going bald after 8-9K costing me over $1600. Porsche doesn't seem to realize that this f$$$ car is not the reason I get up in the morning. It's suppose to serve me not the other way around. Porsche has lost a customer for life! I wish they would also get off their snobby attitudes about these cars. It's an SUV not a race car. I bet the % of Porsche (any) owners that take their cars to the track is less than 5%. Stopping comparing the Cayenne to a 911. It's a 4 door SUV!!! Their product management / support group should all be fired. 1st time they put out an SUV and they don't anticipate issues and problems but expect customers paying in excess of $80K to.

Great performance, minor problems!

Pros: Performance, comfort, craftmanship Cons: Remote key
This SUV is truly powerful and very comfortable. The leather seats are very supportive and firm. Handling is superb and the craftmanship is great!
The navigation system has performed well but not perfect (some minor errors in route planning). Sound system is nice but the use of the CD changer is a little bit of a hassle.
Minor problems include erratic function of the remote key (which seems to be fairly common). The range of the remote key is ridiculous-you have to stand within 2 feet of the car to activate it! Several trips to the dealership resulted in no improvement. I was told that nothing can be done at this time until an "upgrade" is available. Also, why did they install the ignition key on the left side? You can't even start the engine from outside!
