Pros: Price, all-wheel-drive stability Cons: Interior ambiance, boring styling, marginal power, unrefined engine noises The Bottom Line: Great potential not sufficiently realized.
Once upon a time Subaru just made regular cars, ones that didn’t pretend to be SUVs. This began to change when Subaru created an Outback version of its large wagon, the Legacy in 1995. These days Subaru is best known for its quasi-SUVs, the Outback and ...

Pros: Excellent front seats; nice manual transmission; all-wheel drive; wonderful handling Cons: Touch throttle; jerky engine; leaky moonroof; limited headroom all around The Bottom Line: Tight, inexpensive sporty sedan with excellent brakes. Car could use more power but the big problem is an excessively touchy and jerky throttle. Leaky moonroof, too.
I once had a much-loved pair of Audis, a 1986 4000 Quattro and a 1987 5000 Quattro. They were comfortable, interesting, had superb traction and in the case of the 4000 Quattro fairly sporty. I bought them cheaply, when the Audi brand was ...

Pros: AWD, safe, dependable car. Cons: Automatic transmission. The Bottom Line: Great car!
II have always owned Subaru’s. A 1984 Subaru Wagon was my first car. Over the years, Subaru has continued to improve on its first models introduced in the late 60's. They continue to have the H4 (horizontally opposed) engines and AWD. Since the ...

Pros: Superb AWD system, value for $, great reliability Cons: Interior headroom could be better. MPG in mixed driving could be better. The Bottom Line: If you are interested in a sporty, AWD sedan that comes loaded with many standard features, and is totally FUN to drive, you need to give this car a look.
After a month of test driving cars I finally settled on a 2003 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT and must say while I was extremely happy with my choice at the time, and I am more enamored with the car every time I drive it. Every time I drive the car I have a big, ...

Pros: Style, Subaru All Wheel Drive, Lots of features, Price tag. Cons: Trunk space, seat mobility, back seats don't fold down. The Bottom Line: I was on a budget and I needed safety, reliability, and full-time all wheel drive. I love the looks, the features, and the drive. Buy a Subee.
I was looking to dump my VR6 VW Passat because I was plagued with problems and I needed reliability. ...

Pros: great handling, very comfortable seats, a lot of car for the money Cons: slight wind noise coming from windows The Bottom Line: This car looks and drives like a more expensive car. I am very pleased with my 2003 Subaru Legacy L Limited Edition, and would recommend the car without hesitation.
When I was shopping for new cars last November, my brother suggested I test drive a Subaru Legacy. ...

Pros: It still has some of the old Subaru good points. Cons: You need a bloodhound to find them! The Bottom Line: This car is killing my love affair with Subaru. I would normally say it was just a bad car but my Friend has one with the same faults.
Before I start I have to confess that I like Subaru's. This is my second legacy as I had the previous model before this one.The problem is something has happened, something bad, really, really bad.My old Legacy was good. It was built ...

Pros: See above Cons: See above The Bottom Line: Spend the extra cash on the H6 engine in the Outback and you could have potentially the perfect family car.
When I bought my 2003 Subaru Legacy L SE Wagon, I wasn't even in the market for one. What attracted me was the price and allure of AWD in a cold climate. I'll put this in point form to save time: Pros: With winter tires, this thing is practically ...

Pros: All Wheel Drive, roomy utility wagon, good gas mileage, expected reliability. Cons: Some corners cut on materials, not very powerful, skimped on some creature comforts.
The Bottom Line: Perfect vehicle if you haul cargo and children, and want all-weather traction, reliability, economy, utility, and driving pleasure.
I am happy overall with the purchase of this wagon. I have owned several Subaru 4 Wheel Drive wagons over the years, and this is by far the best one yet. This vehicle is perfect for hauling kids, cargo, and camping gear if you prefer. It has All Wheel ...

Pros: solid value with space galore nice long distance cruiser Cons: bangy transmission and some extras that should be included for $19k The Bottom Line: great value when compared to Honda and Toyota. Live with some minor picking points, get AWD for free.
We bought our 2003 Subaru Legacy L Special Edition Wagon new in Feb 03 with 17 miles on the odometer. Our horrible 1998 Ford Explorer Sport trade-in sat woefully as we quickly emptied the glovebox, hoping that the dealer did not change his mind on the ...

Pros: AWD system is a good idea. Cons: Poorly executed, price doesn't match performance. The Bottom Line: Avoid this car as it is completely overrated and prone with many problems.
The Subaru Legacy/Outback is a good idea poorly executed. Apparently the engineers do not talk to the manufacturing folks. For example, after 70,000 miles (mostly freeway) the third engine now seems to be doing okay. That's right folks, three engines. ...

Pros: Reliability, durability, AWD, value, standard equipment Cons: Not enough low-end torque. Could be a little bigger.
This is my second Subaru Legacy L sedan, AWD. My first one lasted me 9 years and 139,000 miles. It is still going strong for its new owner. Love the AWD in EVERY season, not just winter. Great for rain, mud, dirt, dry pavement handling.
My 2003 is a Special Edition sedan, very sporty and well loaded for the price. Have only been stuck twice in the 10 years I've owned Subarus. Have driven it easily in 18 inches of snow. Actually broke a front license plate pushing snow with my bumper.

Pros: Peepy, sporty, comfortable sedan. Best yet Subaru Cons: no complaints!
Put your foot in it and go. It could use more power but what couldn't? Pulls hills great. I regularly pass high end (BMW-Lexus etc...) pulling the steep grade to my house. Combine that with 25 mpg, I have no complaints. Best ever!
