Old or new - still the best buy for your buck

by
Oct 15, 2010 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Maintains value better than competitors
Still a valuable trade-in
Doesn't "act its age"
Cons: No good reason to buy a new car! The old one runs fine.
The Bottom Line: An excellent car that I would buy again "if I knew then what I know now."

We have been a Toyota family for a couple decades now. Toyota's reliabilty and having the right car to meet our needs at various times in our lives is what has kept us coming back. Our first batch consisted of the Toyota Tacoma, the Corolla, and the ... read more

Love my Camry

by
Mar 6, 2008 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: V6 acceleration, JBL Sound System, controls are logically placed
Cons: Wish there were radio controls on the steering wheel! Some rough shifting.
The Bottom Line: A great choice if you want a reliable vehicle that has a little power!

Purchased a well-maintained used 2003 Camry XLE about six months ago. Love the V6, love the JBL sound system, and even the seats that seemed a little uncomfortable at first are a-okay. I wasn't a fan of the styling of the 2003 Camry -- it looked like ... read more

I Love My Camry!

by
Jan 8, 2008 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Gas mileage, roominess, creature comforts
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: For reliability and durability for a small family, definitely recommended.

I purchased my Toyota Camry LE new in 2003. Like many, I was choosing between the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord, and the Nissan Altima. In the end, the Camry won out in terms of ease of use and miles per gallon. The Camry is a relatively standard ... read more

2003 Toyota Camry XLE

by
Jan 21, 2007 - Updated Feb 2, 2007 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good solid car, very comfortable.
Cons: Plain looking.
The Bottom Line: Very Good, reliable, solid, smooth riding car with a lot of power.

My wife and I bought a 2003 Camry XLE as a replacement for a 1980 Corolla as I did not like the Corolla at all. It was a very reliable car; it was just terribly uncomfortable to ride in for a long haul. Given the option, I'd have bought the Audi A 4, ... read more

ITS NOT AS GOOD AS THEY SAY

by
Dec 14, 2006 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: NICE LOOKING, ROOMY, QUIET RIDE.
Cons: POOR SHIFTING, INTERIOR NOISES, ALIGNMENT IS OFF.
The Bottom Line: LOOK FOR SOMETHING ELSE OTHER THAN A 2003 CAMRY IF YOUR LOOKING TO PURCHASE A CAR.

I PURCHASED A VERY SHARP LOOKING 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE WITH LEATHER SEATS. I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I PURCHASED IT BECAUSE OF ALL THE FEATURES IT HAD. BUT AFTER DRIVING THIS CAR FOR ABOUT A MONTH, I FEEL LIKE TRADING IT IN FOR SOMETHING ELSE. THE BRAKES ... read more

Toyota is still THE car!

by
Mar 31, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Quiet, solid construction, great ride, economical,
Cons: Expensive to buy used.
The Bottom Line: Definately recommended. A solid no-frills get-you-where-you-need-to-go vehicle.

The first and only new car I've ever purchased was a 1969 Toyota Corona. I learned to drive on this vehicle so it remains a benchmark for all future vehicles. My wife also learned to drive on the Toyota Corona and after a Cadillac ran out in front ... read more

So very disappointing...

by
Nov 10, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: It's a nice shade of red and real pretty in the bright sunlight.
Cons: I need a lot more than 15 words to list all the cons.
The Bottom Line: My horrific experience with this camry has sworn me off all Toyota products. And I was their most loyal customer for more than two decades.

In 1991, I bought an almost new 1990 Geo Prizm (a Toyota Corolla in drag) and put 165,000 trouble free miles on that good little car. In 1998, I purchased a brand new 1998 Toyota Camry and that was the best car I ever owned. In 2003, I traded it in ... read more

Practical, reliable, few drawbacks

by
Jun 29, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very reliable, reasonable gas mileage
Cons: Watch blind spot on right side mirror for medium-sized drivers
The Bottom Line: Reliable transportation that is above-average in every other respect and good value for the money.

The 2003 Camry LE 4 cylinder is easy and comfortable to drive. This is my fifth Toyota and all have been practical, reliable, and long-lived (200,000 miles+)which is why I purchase Toyotas. They also get slightly above-average gas mileage relative to ... read more

Not perfect after all

by
Nov 4, 2004 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Smooth, quiet ride. Good highway car.
Cons: Rattles, poor responsive transmission, bland handling
The Bottom Line: Not recommended; too many rattles, poor transmission.

After hearing about Toyota quality for years and years, I finally took the plunge and bought a 2003 Camry XLE. Overall, it has been a disappointment. Its good points are a quite ride, both in terms of wind noise and tire noise, comfortable seats and a ... read more

Very nice ride

by
Oct 13, 2004 - Updated Dec 9, 2004 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable, reliable, fun enough to drive, and a very good value.
Cons: The poor design of the keyfob, not going to win any style awards.
The Bottom Line: If you want reliable, comfortable transportation that's fun (not exciting) to drive, the Camry SE may be a good choice.

I bought a 2003 Camry SE as a replacement for a 2000 Sentra S as I needed more room for my kids. I cross-shopped the Altima and Accord. The Altima didn't appear to be as sturdy (do the "door slam" test), and the Honda didn't feel like it had the same ... read more

Damn fine auto!

by
Feb 20, 2004 - Updated Mar 5, 2004 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great car, reasonably priced.
Cons: Stupid, unavoidable spoiler on my SE.
The Bottom Line: If you want a car that will get you there without falling apart, this is the one!

I was in a hurry to buy a car last January (2003), so I spent some time doing my homework and it came down to the Camry or the Accord. While the Accord offered more amenities for the money, I couldn't fit my 6'1" frame comfortably in the one with the ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good turning radius, stereo, suspension, and trunk space.
Cons: Read body of my report.
The Bottom Line: If you want sporty, for the a TSX or Passat. If you can live just under true sportiness and are tall, this is for you.

This is a wonderful car. Very comfortable ride with excellent gas mileage. On a long distance trip I was getting around 37 mpg. The inside controls are simple. It provides ample heat and AC. The stereo system is super. You can live in the trunk, plu ... read more

Refrigerator on wheels..

by
Oct 12, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: Quiet, smooth, comfortable for passengers.
Cons: Incredibly mind-numbing for the driver.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a safe, enjoyable family car with enough power for safe overtaking, look elsewhere. Maybe the V6 might be a little better?

My Camry experience was short-lived (4 days courtesy of Mr Hertz), but my first and lasting opinion was that this has to be one of the most bland conveyances imaginable. Sure, the engine's very quiet and the ride's superb. However, as a 2.4L automatic, ... read more

Pros: A Lexus by another name.
Cons: Incredibly boring to drive.
The Bottom Line: If you like the Lexus-style thang, but can't afford one, get this instead. If you conveniently miss the Toyota badge, you'll think it IS your Lexus.

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great Look, Nice Price, Plenty of Room Inside
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: I lives up to its reputation as an excellent vehicle.

This is our 2nd Camry. We had the 1999 model, which I hated. The 1999 model was cramped and rode much smaller that the 2003 model. My wife had to coax me to go along with her decision to upgrade, and wow, she was right this is a much better car. ... read more

Pros: Solid Toyota Quality, Smooth, Quiet, Roomy, Comfortable.
Cons: Cheap Tires
The Bottom Line: Buy it, you can't go wrong. A car does not get much better than this.

When we were looking for a car, and it came down between the 2003 Camry LE and 2003 Honda Accord LX, both automatics. We choose the Camry. The Camry is everything we expected. The current "tall" body style took a while to get used to. At ... read more
