Pros: Beautiful, handles well, priced well, convertible with a glass window. Cons: Can't drive it in the snow or ice. May be tough on babyboomers' backs. The Bottom Line: This is a fantastic sports car. It is priced well, looks and handles great. Don't drive it in snow or ice though.
During my search for a new car, my husband and I decided to reconfigure the two we have. One would be an SUV and one would be- maybe a 2 seater. That thought and the thought that the SUV would be a Toyota, led us to the 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder. ...

Pros: Handles great, looks great. Cons: Minimal storage and no cruise control with the 5-speed The Bottom Line: Not powerful enough to be called a true sports car, not practical, but it turns heads and is very fun to drive.
I've had the '03 Spyder for about 3 weeks and I love it. This is NOT a "practical" car - but then, ...

Pros: Quality, great engineering, excellent ride, beautiful styling. A thrill to drive. Cons: Trunk, driver's seat, interior lighting, top release plate. No info source. See full Review. The Bottom Line: A 4-cylinder rocket ship with styling and quality that far exceeds its price. Classic Japanese engineering at its best. Feels and sounds like a Grand Prix racer.
OK, Now that I've had my 2003 MR2 for 6 months, I still stand by what I wrote below, but have realized that Toyota can do a lot to improve this wonderful vehicle. So, scan my plaudits (below the starred ****** line), read the new stuff in the next...

Pros: Headlights, leather seating, style and interior. Cons: Not so good in the snow. The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car for people with no kids and dont plan on any.
I was looking for something to replace the gas hog SUV we had and just happened to pass this when I was doing my collections at work. I love it. It is a little difficult for me to get in, but the reason is because i have a bad back. Seats are ...

Pros: Looks, feelings, sound, smell, drive, speed, attention, quality?, drive Cons: Not suitable for winter conditions, can be used as swimming pool if not cleaned properly The Bottom Line: I agree with the guy that said: don't buy one. In 2000 I bought one of the first MR2's that were available in The Netherlands. I drove the car for four years and really loved it. My business partners thinks that true business men shouldn't drive convertibles. Your client get jealous and think: ...

Pros: Handles amazingly, price, new body style from the 2000-2002, sexy look, smooth ride Cons: Difficult to find parts and dealership knowledge about this car, cargo space, and hp The Bottom Line: The car handles amazingly! I have yet to feel uneasy taking corners in this car. Its a sexy sports car that's under $30K.
This car will get people to turn heads. It has a classy look without having to pay an arm and a leg. Yes, it could use some more power in it, and the convertible top could be automatic, but overall I think it was well worth the purchase. I constantly...

Pros: Good handling, sporty image, better front end design - more Miata-like Cons: Lack of horsepower, lack of storage space, higher price The Bottom Line: Toyota raises the price with little to show for it, car still suffers from too many shortcomings. Miata is a better choice. MR2 Spyder is in Reverse!
When Toyota introduced the MR2 Spyder in 2000 it had a number of shortcomings (see previous reviews by this author), so it was expected that Toyota would attempt to improve the car after a couple of years. Unfortunately, it appears Toyota is going in...

My 2003 MR2 in NH

Pros: Cornering, acceleration, handling Cons: 2 seats with no trunk room
A review I read talked about not driving in the snow. Well I have been through two winters using an MR2 as my primary commuting car (30 miles each way) and it's been great in most conditions. Deep snow can be a problem but why not stay home and go cross country skiing anyway.
I have snow tires all around and it has been great.

Love my MR2 Spyder

Pros: Looks, Price, Gas Mileage, Convertible Top is easy to use, Handling Cons: NO Storage and it's bad in snow.
I bought my MR2 in January 2003 and quite simply I love it. People often mistake it for a car, two or three times its value. And I rarely see another one on the road. The car handles excellently and runs strong.
You can cram two small weekend duffles behind the seats and fit golf clubs in the passenger seat with no passenger of course- but LIMITED storage... then again- who cares? It's an amazing car, especially for the price.

Love my MR2!

Pros: A blast to drive, good gas mileage, easy to park, a head-turner. Cons: Almost no space to carry anything, hard to get in and out of.
I was lucky enough to find a gently used 2003 MR2 that I've been driving for a month now. And I love it! I find myself looking for reasons to go for a drive! It did take me a while to get used to sitting so low to the ground and the limited visibility (compared to my Highlander!), but now I drive it with confidence. It is the most impractical car I've ever owned - but also the most fun. It shifts easily and smoothly, corners like it's on a rail, and accelerates fast enough to feel the G's. I certainly feel every groove and bump in the pavement, but the ride is not uncomfortable. It is a real head-turner everywhere I go, and people seem to think it cost more than it did. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 9.9. Love it!

I ADORE this car!

Pros: Absolutely gorgeous.
Handling is superb.
Gas mileage is fantastic. Cons: (There's miniscule storage space, but I knew that when I bought it)
I just purchased a used 2003 MR2 Spyder with only 8k miles on it. I have to say, quite frankly this is the most beautiful car (of the sportscar genre) I have ever seen. I think it is prettier than the Porsche Boxter which is over 2x the price of the Spyder. When you are driving this car, you have such complete control, that you can't help but feel completely safe. It responds to your every whim. It handles superbly. Turns of any kind are not an issue at all. It hugs the road with very little, if any, tilt or lean. If you need a quick acceleration, OH YEAH, it's there for you. It responds to your slightest steering commands, without overreacting, which makes maneuvering seem so pleasant. Guaranteed.....when you are driving this car, heads will be turning all over the place. Just yesterday, I thought one poor guy was gonna get whiplash just from doing a double take as he passed me. Would I recommend this car to people? NO....why? because I don't want anyone else around to have one! I like being the only one in my area with one (that I've seen anyway).
