The Camry of Trucks

by rla217
Mar 31, 2004 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Toyota quality, quiet ride, not too big
Cons: Cost, ugly fake chrome "grill"
The Bottom Line: Highly recommend if you don't need a true full size and want the highest reliability available.

I've had several Fords over the years, a '70 F-100, an 89 F-150, and a '76 F-150. Liked them a lot, however, didn't like fixing them. I've been all over the world, including Africa, Balkans, and Central Asia. Toyotas are consistently the best 4wd ... read more

The Number One 1/2 ton Pick Up

by doctorjeep
Jan 18, 2004 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great for off road work, impressive power with supercharger
Cons: With supercharger super unleaded is required
The Bottom Line: I've been impressed with the Tundra. Build quality is outstanding, towing power is exceptional, and it's a proven design with few if any defects or NTSB recalls.

I purchased the Tundra to replace a 1997 Ford Explorer that I had pretty much driven to death. With the introduction of the Nissan Titan for 2004 the Toyota dealerships are really pushing the sale discounts of the 2004 Tundra so it's pretty much a ... read more

Is Customer Service DEAD at Toyota? Should Thanksgiving Reunion Be Called Off?

by tundralover
Nov 18, 2003 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: I really like how quiet and powerful my Tundra is.
Cons: Customer service could be improved.
The Bottom Line: Excellent Truck, Questionable Service by Toyota

I currently own a Tundra Ext Cab Limited and was surprised when I started it up yesterday morning and both the engine and ABS light were on and the engine was running rough. I immediately took it to my local Toyota service center at Larry Miller Toyota ... read more

Basically a car without a trunk lid...

by thetruthis2003
Aug 11, 2003 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: Styling and ride
Cons: ground clearance and 100 year old braking technology and gas mileage
The Bottom Line: To me it's just not a truck, it's a car without a trunk lid and 100 year old braking technology.

I was in search of a new truck. This search led me to the Tundra. However, the short dealer test dri ... read more

by molex1000
Jul 20, 2003 - Updated Dec 15, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable, durable, powerful, well designed, rock solid reliability.
Cons: Horrid flat spot from 2-4k rpm, size envy, not "mean" sounding.
The Bottom Line: A very very nice truck. Best suited to those who do lots of road driving but also need full-size truck capabilities on a regular basis.

First and foremost, I would like to thank all the Tundra owners at www.tundrasolutions.com for providing an unbelievable amount of help, knowledge and ideas to make my Tundra just right for me. I used to like my truck "all right", and the great ... read more

Jun 2, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Almost Everything
Cons: Bland Exterior Styling, Shallow Bed
The Bottom Line: BUY THIS TRUCK!!!!! If you don't like it, you might not like a truck at all.

I'm going to be completely honest. I'm Phunk and I used to be a Chevy man. I know, I know, for a man to switch teams so late in the game of life is almost unheard of, but I couldn't help it. Background: Back in December of 2001, we went ... read more

Bench Seats Ruin 2003 Toyota Tundra

by downontundra
Feb 7, 2003 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Good Handling, Ride, and Power. 6-disk CD very nice, good sound volume/quality.
Cons: Bench Seat is terrible! Mileage 11-12 town, 15 hwy. Keyless remote is highly annoying
The Bottom Line: Avoid bench seats at all costs. This is totally unsat for a $30K Toyota. Gas Guzzler

Don’t buy the bench seat! It is horrible for anything except a trip to the corner store. In the short test ride I took before purchase, I never noticed how CHEAP the seats were on the 03 Tundra. On a six hour trip I discovered this major ... read more

The Current winner of the "$30,000 and under" pickups

by turbohawk
Oct 25, 2002 - Updated Mar 8, 2004 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Awesome styling, rides like a Lexus, wonderfully smooth powerful V8, fits in the garage!
Cons: Pricey, 18 max mpg, back seat too upright
The Bottom Line: Want the best V8 gas powered truck built in the U.S.? (Yep, Indiana) Look no further than the Toyota Tundra. Simply Awesome!

I never thought I could justify spending $30,000 on a pickup... BUT...I would have been OK if I had declined the offer to test drive one. I test drove a 2003 Toyota Tundra SR5 4X4 with the 4.7 liter i-Force V-8 and that was the worst ... read more

Sad Little Truck
by bigsky40
Oct 19, 2004 (Show)
Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No
Pros: This truck benefits from the Toyota name, it fooled me.
Cons: In a few years it might measure up, but is running chasing the pack.
The Tundra is a Silverado/F150 wantabe. It is cramped, choppy riding, and not in the same class as the others. The back seat is so small that no normal adult can sit there. The box capacity is much less than the others because it is much more shallow.

Pros: Great handling and fuel mileage. Competent towing and cargo capacity.
Cons: Back seat is uncomfortable for long trips.
Made in America, and converted this family of Ford or Chevy only folks. Toyota has a winner in strength to compete with the old standards. The quiet interior of this truck and the smooth ride has won us over. The only downside is the small

Pros: Small but quality DOHC V8.
Cons: Quality, Small Interior Space, Poor Gas Mileage, Outdated Interior
I bought 03 Tundra because I was expecting to enjoy the "superior" quality of Toyota. I was completely disappointed in first four weeks. First of all, its overdrive gear started malfunctioning. Second, all door panels started rattling. After 6
