Pros: Drives like a car, but roomy like an SUV... Cons: ...some minor quibbles with accessories, but nothing major. The Bottom Line: Great for families or for an active couple who can fold down the seat and cart their stuff around.
After spending more than 20 years being a smart consumer by only purchasing used vehicles, I broke my financially smart rule by purchasing my wife a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. She fell in love with the vehicle so for a holiday gift three years later, I ...

Pros: Unique styling, well equipped, economy, price. Cons: Unique styling. The Bottom Line: Good, reliable, economical transport.
Let me start by saying that we no longer own this vehicle, but did have one for over a year, and replaced it through no fault of the vehicle, but because we could, and my wife wanted something different. Why this car I travel extensively for ...

Pros: stylish, comfortable, handles well and gets great gas mileage. Cons: Sluggish with AC on when going up a hill or merging on freeway. The Bottom Line: This is a great vehicle, fun, functional, definitely the right choice for anyone interested in an affordable, quality SUV.
It's hard to believe no one has written a review about this killer SUV! Probably because most people only write reviews when they have something to complain about and there is nothing about this vehicle to complain about. My Hyundai Santa Fe is by far ...

Pros: great value, very dependable. Cons: Not built with a tall person in mind, Use caution if your over 5'10" The Bottom Line: It is a good solid dependable nice looking vehicle.
I have had my 2004 for 2 years now. It has some very strong points and a few minor week ones. First the good, well designed, well thought out arrangement of controls and gauges. It is a smart car, It will not allow you to lock your keys in the ...

Pros: Bare bones SUV that is a great value. (INITIALLY) Cons: Vehicle has quality issues and higher cost of ownership than other vehicles in class. The Bottom Line: If your looking for a good initial value, bar bones SUV this is it. If you are looking for a long term vehicle that retains it's value, look elsewhere.
I've owned this vehicle since it was purchased new. Overall the vehicle is a great value with the warranty as well as the upfront incentives. That said, it isn't a perfect vehicle by any stretch of the imagination. Within 20,000 miles, my vehicle ...

Pros: Comfortable, solid and roomy. Cons: Coil springs collapsed after five years, chassis and suspension parts prone to rust. The Bottom Line: I will never buy another Hyundai.
I bought my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, 3.5L, FWD, new in February 2004. I thought it was a dependable and safe vehicle until this past February when I noticed the brakes were not working properly. I had to replace the front and rear brakes at ...

Pros: Price, style, warranty Cons: Not a ton of interior space The Bottom Line: I'd recommend the Santa Fe to anyone looking for a quality SUV at an affordable price.
We purchased our 2004 Santa Fe 4WD from a used car dealer back in December 2004. At the time, we were expecting our first child and moving to a snowy climate, so I wanted an SUV that wouldn't be too big to handle, yet still give me the room I needed, ...

Pros: One visit to service center unscheduled and then it was only a sensor. Cons: The only cons are that the CD player acts up once in a while.
This vehicle is consistently surprising us as we have owned it since it was brand new and only had 10 miles on it. We have never never had a minutes trouble out of it when following common sense. This vehicle has a lot of goodies with it and the price is not over the top.

Hyundai Santa Fe LX

Pros: Aerodynamic. Great interior appointments, especially HEATED SEATS. I get about 23-25 on the highway. Cons: Front seat cupholder by transmission controls could be relocated.
Body Styling seems a bit futuristic, but then not when you compare it to the Murano, and other new SUVs. Occasionally I peer at the side panels closely thinking someone side-swiped me in a parking lot, only to find....it's the depth of paint and the body style.
The throttle sensitivity on the Hyundai takes some serious getting-used-to. With the a/c off, the vehicle will rocket away with seemingly little throttle. When I allow other drivers, I provide them a stern warning, and then HOLD ON. The usual comment is, " wow, no kidding it's sensitive!"
The leather interior is comfy, especially the heated seats. The temperature controls require a minimum of fussing with, and provide quick ability to shut it down or bring it to automatic control.
I take my dog in the Santa Fe Often, the new improved take-down seating with the 2005 is advantageous over the 2004, which requires removal of the headrests, and then the seat backs do not lie flad.
The LX is only available in the automatic transmission (I really like standards), but the Shiftronic feature is great, especially for slowing from highway speeds, or braking for stop lights.

2004 Santa Fe Standard Stick WOW !!!

Pros: Great Gas Mileage and Comfort. Tows behind a motor home easily. Cons: Could us better quality paint. Very Good Paint for a low priced SUV.
We purchased the Santa Fe in Orlando, Florida in 2004 to tow behind our 2004 National Dolphin LX. (By the way, I would not recommend any National RV product. Poor and Dangerous Designs, Manufacturing and Quality)
The Santa Fe is the second Hyundai we have owned and it lives up to the Quality we have come to expect. Even though it is only a 4 cyl. SUV it keeps up with the best of them. I have found myself driving in excess of the speed limit in Arizona (75 MPH) many times. We have had 1 item replaced (Steering wheel) and the dealers are fabulous.
I would recommend this car to anyone. Great safety rating and great gas mileage (26-31 MPG Highway)
Nate: Please don't purchase a National RV Product. I have a 1 1/2 inch binder with repair tickets and complaints in it. I have also filed a Safety Complaint with the NHTSA.
