Jeep Liberty: Love It, Hate It.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: LOOKS GREAT, handles good on slick roads
Cons: Power, leg room, price, GAS MILEAGE
The Bottom Line: Love it, but hate it. I would buy a new Jeep, only if gas prices dropped dramatically.

After owning a car for many years, I was eager to buy a vehicle that was higher than 8 inches off the ground and was a 4x4. About one and one half years ago, I bought a used Jeep Liberty for the first. The compact size and sporty look caught my eye. ...

Pros: Solid SUV with great handling and a look that stands out.
Cons: Gas mileage.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for an SUV, you should definitely consider this vehicle. It is solid, well designed and a fun car to drive.

I recently picked up this vehicle slightly used (19,500 miles on it) from a dealership for $16,500 plus taxes. It was literally the first car we saw when my wife and I started to search for a new auto for me to drive to work in. We test drove other ...

Pros: Capabilities in 4x4 mode
Looks very adorable
Comfortable
Reliable
Cons: Bad automatic transmission design
Likes to drink the "sauce"
Looses grip in rain while in 2WD
The Bottom Line: Good overall vehicle cursed with annoying auto transmission.

I bought my 2004 Jeep Liberty new after Hurricane Charley swept through my town and I took off for higher ground up north.  I had a new Hyundai Accent that was horrible and barely limped to my folks home after the mountains of Virginia and West ...

Horrible Purchase

Pros: Easy to park--good turn radius
Cons: Poorly made, horrible gas mileage, not enough room, rough ride.
I purchased my 2004 Jeep Liberty brand new in the summer of 2004 and within three years, my power steering completely crapped out at 39000 miles at a cost of ($2400). I've also had to take it in for recalls twice. The gas mileage is horrible and it's very cramped inside. I would never buy another Liberty or Jeep again. I can't wait to get rid of the Jeep I have.
