Love Love Love this car!

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Gas efficient, low maintenance
Cons: Engine not very powerful
The Bottom Line: It has some minor drawbacks if you are a serious car aficianado but for the regular commuter, it far exceeds the base necessities. I strongly recommend this car.

I needed a car around my third year of college because the new place I moved to was a ways away from campus and there was no bus route nearby. I was looking into cheap used cars but my dad insisted I get a new car because he was terrified of what an ...

Pros: Excellent customer service from Saturn, dent resistant panels.
Cons: Poor gas mileage and interior construction, many minor but annoying problems.
The Bottom Line: If you want a Saturn, go for an S or L series, older model, or wait until the bugs have been worked out of the Ion.

I purchased my 2004 Saturn Ion II in June 2004, and I sincerely wish I would have chosen another vehicle. I have had many problems with the car. Within two months of purchase one of my daytime running lights burnt out, and no replacement bulbs were ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: roomy, cool design, good performance, fairly good mileage
Cons: has needed few minor repairs
The Bottom Line: If you're looking at cars in the same price range as the Saturn ION, I would recommend buying it.

As I've gotten more driving experience, I've driven many different cars. My dad owns a Saturn Ion and I've driven it many times since he bought it. This is one of the cars that I enjoy driving. The interior of the car: The instrument panel is in ...

Problems with the Saturn ION

Pros: great interior design, dent resistant
Cons: poor gas mileage, engine problems, recalls, headlights are not very bright
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't recommend

I bought a my 3rd Saturn back in September of 2004. The Saturn ION. I like it much better than the Saturn SL that I had before. The ION is "peppier" when I have to accelerate getting on the highway. And I like the design better ,as well. I kept buying ...

A great car doesn't make up for poor customer service

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: great heater/AC, tons of space, giant trunk, comfortable, reliable, decent gas mileage, tough
Cons: Interior fabric wears easily, mild cabin noise... and that's it!
The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend this car. It's reliable, and stylish. It takes a beating and keeps on going.

I will have owned my 04 Saturn Ion1 for two years in July 07. I am simply in love with this vehicle. I bought the car as a graduation gift to myself pre-owned with 15,000 miles on it. I've got 48,680 on it now, and the only problems I've had with the ...

Some good features, but there's bad in there too.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: This car has some great ideas and some good aspects.
Cons: Dealers too far from home, bad attitudes at Saturn, and nuisance design flaws.
The Bottom Line: Saturn management are the worst kind of people. Would you let a loved one drive a car in the dark cold of winter knowing it had a faulty ignition switch?

I'd read about the ignition switch problems and guess what, it happened to me too. If you purchase a Saturn, this is a problem you will most probably experience. It's a fun little car but has very obvious bad engineering as in the trunk, they place holes ...

Saturn cleans up their act-finally

Pros: Roomy ,handles well, comfortable front seats,easy-to-read and use controls.
Cons: gas mileage is less than expected, doesn't hold up well in the long run.
at 53,000 miles i was told that the oil pan was cracked and had to be replaced. I know that i didn't hit anything, and that the pan should last the life of the car.
They said,"Go back to the dealer. When i protested they said,"We'll stand behind our product".Not only did they reimburse me for the cost of the oil pan, they waived the diagnostic fee, gave me 4 free oil changes and other services, and even said that "We"ll give you an extra $3000 if you want to trade for a new Saturn".

Update-at 83,000 miles I have found out that both front struts have to be replaced, along with a needed front-end alignment. This will cost between $700-$1000,depending on whether i go to an independent shop or back to the dealer. I have spent  way too much in repairs on  a car that was purchased brand-new and its becoming ridiculous. I owned a Sentra that went almost 200,000 miles with a fraction of the repairs this Saturn has gone thru.

I have decided to put the car up for sale. Saturn never should have re-affiliated with GM. The early Saturns from the mid-nineties thru 2001 were much better vehicles, both in reliability and quality.

Great deal--No regrets!

Pros: Gas Mileage, Cost, Premium Options, Driving experience
Cons: Compartments to store stuff like CDs
I was looking for a small to mid-size car. I narrowed my choices to three models: Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Saturn Ion. I didn't like the look or performance of the Corolla. The Civic was just too expensive for the car. Plus, both Toyota and Honda were just too plain for me. I purchased a 2004 Saturn Ion 3--loaded (leather seats, sunroof, etc.) for about $5,000 less than what I could have purchased a base model Civic. It was a Certified Used vehicle. The original owner purchased it new in 2004 from the same dealership and had it serviced at the dealership. My dealership buying experience was everything it claims to be--low pressure, no hassle. I didn't feel like I constantly had to protect myself during the buying process like I've had to do at so many other dealers. No tricks. I've enjoyed driving my Ion from day one. It looks good, has great extras, gets great gas mileage, and drives like a dream. (The driving performance is very similar to my experience with more expensive German made vehicles.) Knowing that I saved $1,000s in the process helps me enjoy my Ion even more.

Left me stranded at night in the Winter

Pros: Decent gas mileage. Adequate Highway Performance (will cruise at 80mph).
Cons: Handling is mushy and unresponsive.
The Saturn Ion needed a recall a long time ago. Leaving work at 10:00 Pm in the middle of a Michigan winter well below freezing and expect to start my car and guess what? Nothing happens! And I'm 50 miles from home, after working a 10 hour plus day. This is a 2 1/2 year old car and 70 thousand miles. I find out that pass key sensor, the thing that makes the key work, is a very common problem. I know 2 people with the Ion and both had to replace this. You can google this problem in a matter of seconds. This is a bland car; people buy this car for gas mileage and dependability. The handling is pretty un-responsive for example. So the one thing I needed in a relatively new car (I was driving 30,000 miles a year) dependability failed me. Recall anyone?

Pros: Acceleration, quiet, good front seat and trunk space, good rear seat access
Cons: Storage space in the passenger compartment could be better
Bought a used QC3 a few weeks ago. 26 MPG in not-so-gentle in-town driving (5 speed); haven't been on the highway for enough to know that yet. Planned on getting an aftermarket stereo, but the stock one is actually surprisingly good! Like someone else said, a little more storage space would have been great (although the trunk is enormous!), but it's a spunky little car!

Should have purchased a different car!

Pros: Cheaper than other cars, good gas mileage.
Cons: Quickly shows wear/tear, too many problems too soon.
I bought my 2004 Saturn Ion Quad used in 2006. You'd expect that a 2 year old car would still be in very good condition, but I was wrong. My sunroof leaks, which in turn stains my floor and front seats. I just had to have the starter replaced ($222.00), because the car wouldn't start in the mornings and the power steering went out because of that. My lock/unlock button on the driver side no longer works, and my keyless entry buttons don't work. The lever that moves the seat forward and backward came detached, also, so when someone wants to move the seat they have to really force it. My console doesn't hold shut anymore, either. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this car.

Pros: Beautiful color, blue with silver on top/ Many compliments. Runs great, great gas mileage
Cons: Only cons are the backseat is not roomy and the armrest could be bigger.
I own a Saturn Ion 3 door. The two doors in back swing outward. Love the car, great car mileage, no problems. Since its plastic it doesn't dent as easily.
