Pros: receive faxes and voice mail messages via email FREE OF CHARGE!! Cons: very few; two "promotional" emails a month and a banner ad in j2's software
Hello. I’ve been using online fax services for about two years now, including eFax.com and j2 (formerly jfax.com). I’d like to share my experience with j2, as well as compare my experience with j2 to that of eFax.
About two years ago, I...

Pros: Convenience; get your fax via email; Cons: Unreliable service; long delay in receiving fax; unhelpful customer service
The concept of getting your fax via email is a good one. The advantages are many: convenience, good for record keeping, not being tied to a fax machine, mobility, etc.
However, the one major drawback of J2's implementation of this concept is...

Pros: Reliable FREE fax service. Cons: Might require a long distance call.
When my fax machine gave up the ghost I decided not to replace it. I figured most people could send me an email with an attachment if necessary and I could fax OUT of my computer relatively easily. In additon I did not see the reason to tie up another...

Pros: Very Efficient, very cheap to send faxes Cons: More complicated for Mac users, you can't cut and paste
I've been using this service for a long time, since before they changed their name.
Funnily enough, I use it only to send faxes, and this mostly for resume sending in response to job postings. I like it because it's cheap, a one-off fee, in my...

Pros: when the service works its seamless and efficient Cons: Appalling customer support. Insulting telephone queue times.
I held 14 accounts with J2 on behalf of a few telecom clients. Once things were setup the service worked great. 8 months later my credit card needed updating. I tried online and it was refused. I emailed them for reasons why because I'd ...

Pros: Great concept, good service Cons: With options set to receive both voice & fax, some computerized fax machines can't fax
I've used the service for a couple of years. I have both a USA number & a New Zealand number.
Customer service has been very good. Each time I have had a question, tech support has been able to solve it right then.Ear

Pros: Easy to use Cons: Unreliable
I had been a *paying* eFax and j2 customer for a few years (eFax was bought by j2) until I finally gave up. Here's the story:
I don't send or receive faxes often enough to justify a separate phone line and a fax machine. j2 seemed like...

Pros: Absolutely none Cons: Fraudulent billing
Abusive customer "service"
This company is a rip-off artist. I had an account that I had cancelled. Then, magically, I was signed up for a new account without my knowledge (using the information they had) and they started to bill me again. I called to straighten it out (after...

Pros: None. Cons: Poor customer service. Expensive for what it is (Premier)
I ordered J2 in June, but soon decided to cancel as I wasn't getting my money's worth. I have found a service that provides phone service over the web for $8.95 (iConnectHere) and another one that provides free fax receive service (faxwave).
The...

Pros: Solid service to receive fax & voice messages. Frees up phone line and computer. Cons: Not as easy as software & no logs. Cost maybe higher. Problem took 3 days
New software allows you to originate fax or email from any program. That ends the problem of Browsing for attachments and assures you don't FORGET.
I have small law office. Prefer email for quick communication but there are still many who...

Pros: inexpensive Cons: poor functionality, terrible responsiveness
I used J2 for conference calling for one month because usage fees are only $0.10/minute, it dials out so nobody on the call incurs toll call fees, and it's controlled over the web. Great service, right? Unfortunately that's where the greatness ends.

Pros: Very convenient, great for home offices, can be customized in numerous ways. Cons: Faxes take a while to go through.
I've been using this service for a long time, about four or five years (when I first signed up they were called Jfax). Overall I'm very happy with them. Here's how it works:
For a monthly charge (I pay $12.50; they have other plans) you get a...

Pros: Easy, Simple, Efficent. Cons: None!
J2 has been the best online fax service that I've ever used. It is easy to access faxes and voicemail via e-mail, internet, and telephone. It ahs saved me lots of moeny because I started with the first one-which is free, and I only upgraded because i...

Pros: cheap, fast to set up Cons: unreliable, no customer service
I used this service for a while when it was still jfax. The one I like best is the fax that appeared in my inbox three months after it was sent. Voicemails take ages to show up also. No response from customer service. Can't use this kind of service for...

Dropping service
by jzsmart3 ,Apr 27 '04
Pros: Good when it works Cons: Very expensive
Very unreliable -- don't use if you can't afford to miss some faxes
I've had the service for years, back when it started out as JConnect. Service is so-so. Price for outbound faxing is very steep -- at 10 cents a page (which is the highest I've seen) this adds up pretty quickly.
Today had the second major outage of service, by which I mean the service is off-line for multiple days. (Confirmed with other J2 users that service is at fault.) This is the final straw and, coupled with the now $15/month fee, I am looking to dump the service
