Recently after meeting with a DHL exec on a trip to NYC I switched our courier service to DHL. Things were ok at best for about a week until a package sent to Vancouver, Canada took 26 days to reach it's destination. We tried to complain but we were told that DHL is suffering growing pains through their acquisitions of Airborne Express and Mayne Logistics in Canada and that we just have to deal with it. 24 years in business I have never dealt with this type customer service or shall I say non-service.

My husband ordered flowers for me for Valentine's Day through ftd.com to be sent to me at my office. They were sent from their warehouse in Georgia using DHL Next Day Delivery. According to DHL tracking, the flowers arrived in the DHL West Hartford facility on February 14, 2006 at 7:37AM and were with the delivery courier that same day at 9:53AM. I receive the flowers today, February 16, at 11:45AM. The flowers were 2 days late, wilted, and no explanation was given as to why it took over 48 hours for them to be delivered. I've had other bad experiences with DHL prior to this, but this takes the cake. Do yourself a favor: if you want overnight delivery guaranteed, go to FedEx or the USPS. If you want hassles and heartache, use DHL.

My overnight, prepaid shipping took 2 days to deliver. The telephone operator was very talkative and helpful. However, the computer systems went down at their Houston location and her comment was, "Good Lord, I'd hate to be in Houston," this comment inspiring me with such confidence. No! Thus, I was unable to track my package and find out where it was at. I was told I would receive a phone call when the item was delivered, a phone call I never received. I finally had to call the location of the delivery to see if they had received it, which they had. I would not recommend this service. There is only one place to send DHL in my area and when an overnight is not sent overnight, that is simply bad business.

Before I shipped my dress via DHL, I called the company to make sure that 1. they delivered to that location and 2. that they could get my dress there by a certain date -- it HAD to be there by a certain date. I needed a laptop battery for going out of town on a working vacation. I have never used DHL before so I didn't think it would be a problem to pay extra for the next day delivery. What a mistake! The tracking number in my e-mail said my battery was with the courier all day. Nothing comes. By 8 pm I call and lo and behold, no one knows anything at DHL. I have to leave early the next day so I tell them that now they will need to hold on to it until I got back. They somehow got the notion I was supposed to pick up the battery in some weird location. I had to call them yet again when my vacation was done and tell them they needed to deliver it to my address, they had already screwed up, and I was not going to drive anywhere to pick up anything. So here I am, waiting for the battery to arrive and wondering if it ever will. I will never use DHL again. I have never, ever had this kind of trouble with any other delivery company.

This is the second time in 3 years that DHL has screwed up the delivery of bowl game tickets sent out by the University of Southern California. In 2004, one of their drivers falsified computer records of delivery attempts only to be caught by a vigilent supervisor. This time, they delivered my tickets for the National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl to someone's business rather than my residence. The only way I even knew about it was when I tracked the order, I found out it had been signed for by someone's receptionist!!! The branch manager retrieved the order and hand delivered it to me but made no attempt at even a feeble apology. When I asked him if he was aware of what he had in his hand, he just glared at me. Two messed up encounters in three attempts??? You would almost have to TRY to be this incompetent!

With DHL, overnight doesn't mean what you think it means. DHL just doesn't have the infrastructure to get the job done. Especially during rush periods, use someone else. As for their on-time "guarantee" if you ever actually read the terms it is anything but a guarantee. On my most recent "overnight" package, it rode around on their truck all day and then they just ran out of time so they took it back to the station and say they will try to deliver it tomorrow. I was here all day waiting. They just never got here so now they suggest I wait tomorrow instead. I really do feel sorry for their customer service people. But the fact remains the same - they just don't have the ability to be trusted with anything important.

I recently shipped four packages in the US using DHL. These packages were supposed to arrive within two days of shipping.The packages were going from California to Arizona. Tracking showed that packed shipped from California to Salt Lake City, then to Ohio then back to Arizona. What is that all about? Much to my dismay each package did not arrive for 7 days. DHL had no excuse except to tell me they were on their way?? I will never use them again!

I will make a very long story very short: my company used to ship with DHL Express because of their cheaper rates. However, due to EXCESSIVE late packages (approx. 30 packages within a 4 month period totaling in a little over $5,000 of losses for my company) we switched to Fedex and couldn't be happier (only 2 late packages in 18 months!!). We are a company that spends approx. $60,000.00/year on overnight shipping.
DHL = Doesn't really know what OVERNIGHT means. Pays NO claims, no refunds on value protection that they do not honor, and ACTUALLY TOLD ME TO FIND ANOTHER CARRIER WHEN I COMPLAINED!!!

My company was convinced to go with DHL as they were trying to "buy" business from UPS. We tried them for 6 - 8 months and found them beyond incompetent. Overnight and 2-day air was virtually non existent. We had multiple packages lost and damaged. We switched back to UPS, paid a little bit more but certainly feel we get more. As a result of trying them on approx. 1200 shipments I would not use them if they delivered for free.
Pros: There are none, I always request that products not be shipped DHL. Cons: Everything, no punctuality, no service, rude drivers. This service needs to go away.
I was expecting a box to be delivered from the computer company so I could ship my laptop in for service. About a week later I found the box halfway down my driveway in some tall grass........it had rained so the box was wet..... my driveway is about 500 ft long and the driver apparently came halfway and tossed the box into the brush to the side. Pathetic........When I went to a shipping office of SHL to complain...I was told the "the drivers are wild, nothing we can do!"

Not only did DHL miss the delivery deadline by a day. (Overnight came one day late)
but when I called to put in a claim for a replacement Ship Ready Envelope, they told me it takes 21 BUSINESS days to investigate the claim.
Now one could track it on their website and see that they missed the delivery date.
Worst customer service of all of the overnight carriers by far.
Not ready for prime time, this company needs a lot of work.
Overnight delivery is a premium time sensitive SERVICE business and this company does not understand that at all.

I am really frustrated with their "overnight" delivery service.
I was expecting a very important document, and the sender informed me that the package would be delivered with DHL overnight service, and it would come before 10:30am the next day. So I didn't go to work, and I stayed at home until 1:00pm, no one showed up, so I contacted them and the sender, and the information I got was that the package was sent to a "wrong distribution center", and DHL will deliver it between 2:00 and 5:00pm in the afternoon. I figured, ok, as long as I can get the package, no big deal. Silly me! I waited again until 5:00pm, of course no one showed up. I still haven't got the package yet!!!! Nothing is delivered!!!!
The unprofessional services by DHL really stunned me. They don't keep their promises, which should come the first priority for business like theirs. That also makes me wonder how come they are still in the business.
DHL is Sucks, I have used these guys a few times and unfortunately they never fulfilled their commitments
1) Important RFP document shipped from NJ to SanJoe by overnite 10AM delivery, never got delivered and when I spoke to the customer support the only answer they had was we will refund you. But what to the loss, I lost a 2M business
2) A personnel cheque shipped overnite and got delivered in a week.

I know for a fact that I was home at least 2 of them times. I directed them to deliver package to my neighbor who is a homebody. They agreed, yet they 'attemped' delivery and said no one was home. BULL. She never left. No attempted delivery notice was left any of the 4 times. So.. DHL claims they tried to deliver, yet in reality they never even bother to come try to deliver.

Ordered a gift for overnight delivery to Little Rock, AR. According to DHL's tracking web site, it arrived in Little Rock today at 8:40 a.m. I live six miles from the airport, yet DHL was unable to complete the delivery. When I called about it, the DHL representative first claimed it was delayed by inclement weather. When I directed them to their own information and pointed out that there had been no inclement weather within 150 miles of Little Rock, they said I needed to contact the shipper. Unreliable and, apparently, dishonest. Not recommended for anything important.

DHL dropped off a destroyed box, the item was obviously damaged. When reported to DHL I got the biggest run around which basically resulted in tough luck we delivered it. The process to file a claim is way too long for a small business. Bottom line I paid an 80 dollars shipping fee only for DHL to take my money and destroy the item.

It's only been a week, but still no package. DHL attempted delivery at the local post office when it was closed on a Friday. The post office's hours are posted on the door. On Monday the package was returned to the facility. On Tuesday, they once again attempted delivery during normal business hours, but indicated the post office was closed - at 10:16 AM on a Tuesday! I called DHL to question the attempted delivery and was told that the courier would attempt another delivery in the afternoon. They lied. This morning I called DHL again and was told that the package doesn't necessarily go to the local post office and they have no way of determining to which post office it actually does goes. I can't believe how much the customer representatives lie to cover up the incompetence of their service.
They promised my mom the package would arrive to my city within 48 hours. It's been now over 72 hours and my package is stuck in the wrong customs and NOBODY wants to help me out.
Stay away if you can... from now on I will only use Fedex.

I used DHL to sends a hard copy of a contract bid. As a commissioned salesperson, my pay is directly affected by sales. DHL lost the envelope, they still haven't admitted it. When I asked why I had to call and ask where the package was, I was told that they can't keep track of all the packages! Unbelievable! I missed the close date of the contract! We have used 3 different shippers in the past. DHL is the
definite winner. Not only do our overnight packages arrive on time, but many of our 2nd Day shipments arrive overnight. If we do have any problems, the customer service people have always gotten back to us very quickly.
We never had this kind of service from the other 2 shippers.
I'm still waiting for a refund on a lost package from UPS-

Ordered ink cartridges and paid for 2nd day delivery. This is now past the 2nd business day and still no delivery. DHL tracking shows attempted delivery yesterday (not true as I was home ALL DAY. DHL site indicates out for delivery again today but again no one showed up!! I have sent e-mails and called DHL with NO RESULTS. I believe that the DHL contractors in Bridgeville, DE just deliver when they feel like it!!! This is the second time I've had trouble with deliveries from the same place!! Left my dell laptop box at the door, empty, didn't knock, ask for signature, etc... DHL claims delivery person not responsible for anything besides leaving the package. They never told dell when the laptop arrived at their shipping center, so I was left in the dark as to where the laptop was once it was shipped. Once the box was here I was left without a laptop. Fortunately Dell rocks and is going to send another one in 2 weeks after an investigation, but unfortunately they only ship DHL. Who knows if I'll get the 2nd laptop. First experience with DHL, will never willing ship via DHL again.

Having received a notice that they had made several attempts to contact me, for which there were no notices left or documentation, I attempted to call the number found on their single notice. The number would not answer. Anticipating a second attempt, as with the Post Office, I signed the form allowing them to leave package without my physical presence as indicated on the form and left it taped to the door window. After a Saturday and Labor Day Monday when I assumed they did not deliver, we found an alternative inquiry number in the phone book that someone actually answered and called Tuesday at mid-day when item still had not been received. After some supposed investigation, a representative called back and said item had been returned and they could do nothing. Representative could give no explanation about supposed delivery attempts. While the US Post Office may have some problems I have never had this problem with them after several years of an internet business of buying and selling. My item is on its way back to France and who can tell when or if I will ever get it. Service from this outfit rated as lousy.

DHL does not scan packages at each point of handling. Their on-line web based tracking system is hot and miss at best. In fact they use pretend entries where they think the package should be. DHL received an international package in LA and instead of sending thru their riverside sort to send to wash Sate they sent to Ohio for giggles. They then sat on it in Ohio. The package took longer to get out of LA then it did to fly from Melbourne. They then p[romised to deliver on saturday and we had people standing by on OT waiting to install parts. They didnt call and didnt delive rthe package. On Monday they couldnt even tell where the package was - bad tracking system as they could only tell where the package was when it surfaced at a sort station. Very very poor chain of custody on shipments. Valuables would be at a high risk with these folks.

I dedicated an entire day to receive delivery and they went to the wrong address, which was next door and plainly marked. I was so incensed that I would have to dedicate another day that I cancelled the order. I received quick phone message of unsuccessful delivery and phoned them immediately to have driver turn around and redeliver but they never called back.

Package shipping from Dell. Shipment is originating in California shipping to New Jersey. Next Day Air service requested. What a joke. Package is sitting in Riverside California....FOR 2 DAYS !! I was assured it would be delivered but no one can tell me when. Then how can use assure? I was told that the delay was due to handling errors but no one from DHL can tell me why, how or even where my package actually is. They do not know. The customer service operators are the worst I've seen. They speak to you like you have no business complaining or questioning your delivery status. They are rude, arrogant and not to mention, pardon my french, Idiots. DHL has no business running a delivery service. I blame the companies who ship with DHL. They are more at fault the DHL is. Unfortunately, I had no carrier options when ordering my package which to me is extremely unfair. UPS or FEDEX no problems. DHL GO TO HE*L !!

Four months ago I bought a course or my wife on traing birds She didn't like it so I sent it back.Took it to my local pack ank ship and they sent it DHL.It made it from Venice FL to Orlando were it was lost.It has taken me 3 months to recieve an answer to my claim.The course cost$273 and they have the nuts to tell me they are only responsible for $100 of it.Thanks for th sex ,DHL but it wasn't enjoyable. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE TO SEND A BOX TO THE TRASH.

DHL proved to be the worst courier service I have ever come through. I had sent a shipment to USA from INDIA and DHL has promised to deliver in three working days. 10 working days passed away and still the shipment is hanging somewhere and they were not in a position even to trace it. Finally they concluded that shipment has been misplaced and asked for an apology. I was so shocked after listening that and I didnt even able to answer to that. Later when I started abusing them, they were behaving as if they were not responsible for that and were saying as your destination is in some remote place of US, we had handed over the packet to third party and you have to contact them now. We are no longer responsible for that. Overall, I rate their customer service 0/5 and the courier service -5/5 and they are the worst courier service. I advice the people around globe not to select them. There are many more courier services and make a practice of enquiring well before you place the courier. OPT FOR ANY COURIER SERVICE EXCEPT DHL, THIS IS WHAT I NEED TO CONCLUDE

These people suck! My package has been sitting in a warehouse 40 minutes from my house now for 4 days. I have called them 5 times and been told the item is coming....It's still not here. Today, the rep assured me it would be delivered today. NOTHING. I ordered items for my son from Little Tikes for xmas back on Dec. 6. Now, the 21st, still nothing.
Now I try and call customer service and their recording states there is longer than a 20 minute wait...so they disconnect me. So you can't even speak to anyone, anywhere.
Tomorrow, I will make the 50 minute drive to the warehouse where my package has been sitting and hopefully retrieve it...Oh, did I mention that this parcel has been in transit now for over 10 days and it was only going from OH to NY...SAD!!!! I'd like to thank the kind folks at this sham of a company for making my xmas weekend a very merry one!! Merry *bleeping* Christmas!

We had items ordered on the phone. We didn't know that the company we are talking to uses DHL for shipping service. BIG MISTAKE!!! According to the customer service rep. they tried to deliver to our place twice. The dates they say they tried to deliver? We were at home the entire time. So, I don't really know how their people deliver their packages? From what I know they are supposed to ring your doorbell or knock at your door. They don't really expect people to wait for them outside their houses! Anyway, we call their customer service and their customer service is really bad! They don't know how to handle customers! I don't know how their HR Department hire people but I do believe they need to screen them if they are up for the job. Some of them are rude and even give you the impression that they are the boss and they control your lives. They make you feel that you owe them something for giving you your package! Holidays are done and so its time to be objective here and start firing people who are not up for the job!
