Brokerage fees

by marrckus , Oct 07 '02
Pros: Fast, positive, response by Customer Service to e-mail.
Cons: The imposition of brokerage fees at all.
I had occasion to have sent to me a package from Chicago.
It was a gift from my sister-in-law. She prepaid it. When it arrived here in Canada, I was presented with a $35.00 brokerage fee. I wrote to UPS H.O. explaining to them that

Must be improved!

by rspec99 , Nov 22 '01
Pros: Improved service, pro-active, early delivery, online tracking
Cons: Past history of problems
I've recently been shipping parcels from the US and have experimented with the different carriers. In the past, I understand that UPS has been clearing the products through customs themselves and charging the exhorbitant fee of $30+ for processing. In...

UPS Standard Shipping continued

by applecore999 , Nov 21 '07
Pros: Ground: No benefit to you. Excellent benefit to UPS or similar shipper.
Cons: Ground: Takes longer to get to you than 'Air', and you pay much larger fees.
Hello folks, I recently ordered a Battery Charger/Batteries from on online U.S. retailer to be shipped to Canada; shipped via UPS WorldShip: Expedited. From my research I have gathered the following: 'Additional Brokerage fees' charged by UPS do ...

Surprise! We charge hidden fees.

by trohricht , Feb 07 '01
Pros: Looks cheap on paper. Great web-based package tracking. Would make a good prank.
Cons: Insane brokerage fees, indifferent customer service.
This opinion is based on three separate shipments made from various suppliers in the US to myself in Toronto, Canada. Each time, something a little bit different happened. Unfortunately two of those three surprises were less than pleasant.

The...

Shipping Nightmare

by Rufster , Jul 29 '06
Pros: Quick delivery. Never had a damaged package sent via UPS.
Cons: Pathetic customer service. Gigantic hidden fees.
Some reviews are simply a story of experience… and well folks, this is one of them. It all began when I had a few computer parts that a Canadian acquaintance wanted to purchase. After making the agreement, we quickly arranged him to send me a money ...

Info below: The better way is you, me and your MP, not UPS

by nijhawan , Sep 16 '06
Pros: Three attempts were indeed made to deliver the item, on time. Tracking seemed accurate
Cons: Illegal (if forced) brokerage, disbursement and COD charges. no proof of payment to CCRA provided
First, very briefly I'll explain how I got duped by UPS. I ordered a roach repeller from the US and the shipper sent via UPS. They lost it and I never got it. He resent via DHL and I received it, paid nothing else for it. I then ordered 3 of the ...

How about UPS to anywhere!

by john303 , Aug 06 '09
Pros: It's convenient.
Cons: Hopefully with fingers crossed and divine intervention, your package will actually reach its destination.
Sadly, we have found that UPS loses a good 10% of all packages shipped. If you think you are safe if you submit a claim if they lose your package, you would be sorrily mistaken. See, half of the time UPS will tell you that the box you ...

UPS fees are highway robbery

by marccouture67 , Jul 06 '07
Pros: none, their services suck big time (see comments in cons section)
Cons: everything: high fees, bad customer service, slow shipping. They basically suck.
Just received a 130$ video card purchased on eBay and got dinged for an extra $63,25 for UPS "brokerage" fees and whatnot. Here's the actual breakdown of those mysterious fees, as provided to me by their awful customer service: COD CHARGE $4.25 ...

I WON'T TAKE A LOT OF YOUR PRECIOUS TIME, BUT i SHOULD SAY THAT UPS "SERVICE' IS A PIECE OF SH-T, BECAUSE OF THEIR EXORBITANT HIDDEN FEES (CUSTOM BROKERAGE FEES, Credit fees, paper fees etc.) My history. 1. They didn't call me in time of delivery (I ...

by lynnbrook , Jul 12 '08
Pros: the shoes fit
Cons: UPS and Margaritaville footwear both stole money from us.
Apr 10/08 - We ordered shoes online from Margaritaville Footwear in FL, paid for the shoes (69.95) AND shipping (@ 35.00) at time of order. We got a call from UPS Canada when the shoes arrived and were told someone had to be at home because the item was ...

by upsripoffNew Member , Nov 10 '09
Pros: The people at the store and UPS International were courteous (but not helpful or knowledgeable)
Cons: Consumer is charged hidden fees and package is held hostage until they are paid.
I sent several small birthday gifts to my daughter who lives in Canada through a local independently owned UPS Store, paying $22 shipping charges. The package was delivered with $27 in COD charges. After multiple phone calls and much misinformation ...

CANADIANS, STAY CLEAR of UPS

by quarkx , Nov 05 '02
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Sickeningly high prices
I just returned home to find the tires I ordered from Tirerack had been delivered--just in time for winter!

Then I looked at the bill.

OH MY GOD!

In addition to the $130.00 that I paid Tirerack for shipping, UPS added:...
