Pros: Ingenious transmitter storage, compact transmitter and mouse, lots of customization options Cons: Didn’t work ‘right out of the box’, scroll wheel a little tight, a bit pricey
Standing in the mouse aisle at my local Fry's electronics store, I was in a bit of a daze. I mean, there are a LOT of mouse choices out there. Full-size ones, mini travel-size ones, optical ones, optical AND wireless ones, simple ones with only a...
Pros: Innovative storage method for the receiver, highly customizable driver, excellent range and tracking Cons: No power-saving system while the mouse is in use
As soon as I saw this in Best Buy I knew I had to have it. While looking for a laptop I was also loo ...
Pros: Easy to use, nice design, great portability, wonderful freedom Cons: heavy; need to get used to it, battery life bad.
I love this mouse. It gives me freedom I never had before. I use it on a macintosh and have never had trouble with it working right out of the box. I use the drivers cuz they give additional functionality and downloading them from the Internet is easy. ...
Pros: Small, comfy, never loses signal Cons: Flimsy transmitter always in jeopardy
In many senses, this is a great design, particularly how the small usb transmitter tucks inside the unit when you're not using it. The transmitter is about 2 inches long and 1 inch deep, and has a rotating segment which you can turn for best signal. I...
Kensington Mouse Conflicted With Other Drivers by rhondajoysie ,Jun 01 '04
Pros: Neat design, great idea, reasonably priced. Cons: Conflicts with other drivers, rendering it useless in my case.
I was excited when I purchased it and saw the handy storage area, and was eager to put it to use. It immediately caused problems with the driver for the built-in mouse on my laptop and constantly caused the PC to freeze. I finally had to uninstall the driver, reinstall the PC mouse driver to have any functionality at all. It is now in the floor of my closet because I waited too long to return it.
Poor operation and battery hog by a4271 ,May 15 '06
Pros: compact Cons: Syncing and operation problems. Battery hog
The Kensington 72117 mouse loses sync with the receiver. Stops working. Very time-consuming to get it to resync.
Also burns up lots of batteries.
After a few months of struggling to keep it working, plan to throw it away and find a better brand.
Great Design Idea, Poor Implementation by obfunkhouser ,Oct 17 '05
Pros: lightweight, great usability Cons: poor drivers, poor communication with base, frequent lockups
For the first week of use, the mouse performed great. Since the batteries were Nimh, I recharged the mouse each night as I left home from work. The next week, the mouse started to act strangly:
1. It lost communication with the base. To get around this, you have to connect the mouse to the base/charger and pull it back out. Then it is resynchronized.
2. Occasionally the mouse would lock up entirely and a reboot was the only solution.
I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Kensington and the problems persisted. After two weeks of use, the left mouse button only worked if you click-and-drag. A single or double-click would not work at all.
At this point, I packaged up the mouse (keeping the batteries for myself) and threw it in the trash. Afterall, it was a freebie shipped from CDW as a "thank you" for spending lots of money with them.
