Very soon, my Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse will have a J.D.!

by mjtriplett Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Dec 10 '07
Pros: accurate, glides easily, comfortable to use, very durable, stylish
Cons: may be less comfortable for larger hands
I never used a laptop during college courses in the late 90s. But when I was accepted to law school, I actually signed up in the "technology section," where one of the requirements was to bring a laptop to each class. Hmmm...civil procedure or snood? I ...

Flagrant Mouse Error: Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse

by decayconstant , Dec 18 '04
Pros: Very portable. Looks cool. It's optical.
Cons: Short, flimsy cord. Sometimes, it just stops working. Expensive for a notebook mouse.
If you want to play games on your laptop, you'll need a mouse. Touchpads just don't cut it. With that in mind, I went shopping for a small, portable mouse for my laptop computer. I chose the Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse because it was small, ...

Good mouse with built-in production flaws

by twofish72 , Jan 19 '08
Pros: comfortable to use, reliable optical sensor and buttons
Cons: scrollwheel stops working after a little over a year
When I bought my first laptop years back I had the same problem as everybody: Touch pads. They are okay to work with when you need to save energy, have no space (like in an airplane) or when you just to some quick, short work. But if you really want to ...

Comfortable mouse, iffy scroll wheel

by rotj , Mar 02 '05
Pros: Light, comfortable to use, small profile
Cons: My wheel got sticky and eventually died after about 1.5 years use.
This mouse was delivered to my door one day about 2 years ago. I didn't remembering ordering a mouse so apparently, I got it through some king of free mouse Internet promotion. Using a real mouse with a laptop greatly improves productivity compared to ...

Works great, but that dang cord!!

by tony1963 , Oct 10 '03
Pros: Cool look, excellent optical
Cons: Short short short cord
I recently bought a new laptop, which has a standard touchpad that I can never get used to, so I started shopping for a good optical mouse. When I found out there were smaller "notebook" sized optical mice available I decided that would be my best option ...

MS Notebook Opt. Mouse

by f_elz , Jun 08 '03
Pros: Nice sleek design, clear-read scroll wheel. Its an optical mouse, no balls. Great for kids.
Cons: Small, no ergonomics. It feels awkward. Reminds me of the Apple hockey puck mouse.
As I recieved my free optical mouse from MS from taking an XP quiz. I decided to rapidly open the box as soon as it came. I was quickly to set it up on my Mac (OS X.2.6)
The first thing I noticed was that its too small! It reminded me of those Mac...

Highly recommend if you have carpel tunnel (sp?).
by katys ,Dec 14 '06
Pros: Lightweight, precision, cost
Cons: Sticking scroller, short cord
I do a strenuous amount of precise mouse movement with my job, and have been through every type of mouse you can think of...normal ball, high-tech mega-expensive rollerball ($300+), normal optical, pen & tablet, etc, and this is the only one I can use that doesn't make my wrist and fingers ache. The only problem I have is that the scroller will be a little sticky to spin sometimes. I have to have my PC on my desk for the cord to reach, but it is designed for laptop use, so I can't complain. I would highly recommend this!

Faulty wiring but snazzy design
by b7137 ,Jul 31 '05
Pros: Great size, fits in hand well, easy to pack, works on several surfaces
Cons: Surged USB port after less than a year, cord cuts out at times
Loved the look, size and shape of the mouse. Properly worked at first, then began to cut out. First, the ball movement was slowed, then I had to double-click every thing. The mouse ended up surging one of my laptop's USB ports after less than a year of purchase. Great design and concept, but the wiring needs fixed. If Microsoft fixes the wiring, I would definitely buy it again.

Having relations with a donkey or the Microsoft optical mouse.
by paulyc ,Feb 01 '05
Pros: none
Cons: everything
I’m on my second mouse and I’m not going for the third, total garbage. The cord length is perfect for a laptop and the overall size is perfect the only thing is IT DOES NOT WORK!!! The only thing I think this mouse would be good for is to strangle somebody with the cord, trust me after using this thing that’s exactly what your going to feel like doing. Now I’ve never had a sexual encounter with a donkey or any other animal but I would think taking on a donkey for the night would possibly be a better experience then having to use this product on a daily basis. Now if you really hate somebody this is the perfect gift.

Nice mouse, terrible cable
by satomz ,Jan 29 '06
Pros: Good sensitivity, compact
Cons: Cable too short & not very durable
I agree with tony1963; the cable is short.

I too have a laptop with USB port at the back to the left, and I'm right handed. The cable started to break apart at the connection between the cable and the USB port area in a couple months of usage, with the insides of the cable showing. I have been taping the part up with electric tape, but it finally gave in today, a little less than 1.5 years of usage.

But other than the terrible cable, it was a fairly nice mouse.

RIP my first laptop mouse 1/29/06. It was a good mouse while it was working (except for the cable part).
