Pros: Large, versatile, portable, USB 2.0 is relatively quick Cons: Bulky adapter, not truly portable due to power adapter, USB 1.X is slow
What boggles the mind nowadays is how well Plug and Play has turned out to be, and the convenience offered by it. The earliest edition of Plug and Play in Windows 95 wasn't really all that it was supposed to be, as hardware support in that version was...
Pros: External, easy installation, no software required. Cheap storage. Cons: Bulky AC Adapter. Drive Crashed and burned on me. Returning the drive is a nightmare.
The Maxtor 3000LE is an external 120gb USB 2.0 hard drive that has a RPM of 5400. This drive is truly plug and play. To install it, just plug it in and you are good to go. No software to install, no reformatting. Unless, of course you are using one...
Pros: Easy to install, low cost, moveable to other machines in seconds Cons: none known
I purchased this Maxtor external hard drive because I needed space for MP3's and videos and things I had on my computer that were just clogging it up. Plus I wanted to start storing things externally on something that I could keep for the system that...
If you need lots of space for any reason, and you are not a computer expert, than the maxtor is definately for you. Its around 200 at any computer store. Its easy to install and has a huge capacity. Its good for storing files, digital video editing (USB...
Pros: simple for most people; large storage capability Cons: loud when plugged in; no on/off switch; not Windows 98SE friendly
Now I don't know if it's just the specific Maxtor external hard drive that I purchased, but I've had nothing but problems with the item.
It worked fine at first, but I've encountered so many problems that I can't even use it anymore.
I've had problems such as: the unit not assigning the correct drive letter, my computer not recognizing the unit; maxtor's lack of help when I need it, the drive saying it's completely full when it's obviously not, etc. etc.
My recommendation if you must buy this particular unit: after first installation, never unplug it, never uninstall anything having to do with it, never touch it, and don't even think about looking at it.
