Pros: As a computing station, it performs wonderfully.
Cons: Missing little touches that make it a bear to deal with at points.
There are a few things you have to know about an iMac.

It is the most consumer friendly computer in the world. It is the definition of plug and play. Everything about it, from the interface to the peripherals, is light years ahead of...

Overpriced at any price

by byronfast , Feb 15 '01
Pros: Nice looking package, USB ports everywhere.
Cons: Fragile as a snowflake, and not easy to use at all.
I bought my used iMac for my (not computer literate) girlfriend because I thought it would be easier for her to learn, and would be less of a maintenance headache for me. I could not be more wrong.

It is definitely not easier for her...

My family has been owners of Macs for several years. Some of us, namely my father and I, are experienced computer users, and the rest don't have the same blessing. Either way, when our old Mac clone broke down, it was computer shopping time. I remember...

by jpatakas2k , Jul 07 '01
Pros: Simple, easy to use.
Cons: OS is very basic, no floppy drive!
Greetings,

I wrote an article before on my Pavilion 5190, as many probably have read already. I use a Compaq iPaq at work, and use the Mac iMac as well.

I think the iMac would be the perfect computer for the first time buyer....

Truly "For the Rest of Us"

by orangemike , Nov 19 '00
Pros: Ease of use; power/price ratio
Cons: Doesn't connect to older peripherals without special attachments
The computer industry has become obsessed with pushing the latest, most powerful machine for the power user. Unfortunately, this means that that other users get neglected or ignored.

For them, I recommend the iMac. For less than $1000, you...

Who should buy an iMac?

by Sal-Afsan , Jun 08 '00
Pros: simple
Cons: simple, hardware obsolete 10 years ago.
I have tried out the iMac at Best Buy, and I have reviewed the specs, and I have concluded that the iMac is NOT the computer to buy for users with any computer experience at all. It has a low resolution monitor, little to no costomizability, and...

What A Consumer Computer should be

by dldrucker , Sep 09 '99
Pros: Simple, Elegant, Fun to Use
Cons: Lacking Floppy Drive out of the box
As a long-time Mac user, I have to admit a certain bias, but even if I weren't one, I admire the iMac for many of the same reasons that drew me to buy my first Macintosh. It's simple, elegant and pleasing to look at. It's powerful and very fast, letting...

It is not so great........

by meg , Oct 08 '99
Pros: It is small and user friendly
Cons: There are a lot of hidden costs
I ordered the IMAC for my daughter, a college student. It is very easy to assemble, and the price seems reasonable, but that's only for the basics. What you don't realize is that you must add memory to the basic package in order for you to utilize the...
