Do I love to support it? Nope....but I still love it....

Pros: Doesn't take up a lot of desk space
Cons: hard to upgrade
First of all, let me say no internal floppy drive. No Parallel port. No DVDROM drive, just CDRW. If you can't deal with that, then don't buy the computer.

In my personal opinion, if you are going to buy an L series desktop from Sony, then...

Pros: Small, Attractive, Powerful
Cons: None
You know that "prototype" rocket car ride at disneyland? When you first start that car ride, there's a sudden boost of speed. That's what this computer feels like. This 800EB seems to be a lot faster than my 733. The operating system is much an...

Is it worth to pay a bit more for the look?

by wc201 , Jul 05 '01
Pros: Sleek Look, Small Footprint, LCD Display, Keyboard w/Built-in Cover
Cons: High Price, No Floppy, No DVD,Impossible to upgrade
Sony Vaio PCV-LX 800 is a gorgeous computer. I had many computers including Macintosh G4 and others. But, none of them looked so complete.

But, Is it really worth spending $500 to $700 more for the look? If you ask me, my answer is...

Pros: Very chic looking, takes up minimal space, great resolution (for a flat screen), worth it!
Cons: No parallel port, external diskette needed, w/o Excel, .ppt and etc.
I purchased this computer after reading the opinions of the others who recomended it. I must say that I give them kudos for laying it all out. I have been a big fan and user of the laptops and decided to switch over to a PC.

Keep right on looking - avoid like the plague!

by jamilynd , Jan 26 '03
Pros: Cool looking
Cons: Required repair constantly, proprietary monitor irreplaceable
I thought this was a neat looking computer, and Sony had a great reputation for its laptop computers. So, in April of 2001 I purchased this brand new, through an online source.

During the one year warranty, it required repair twice. This...

Pros: only 1 thing dead, runs most modern programs (no new games though)
Cons: Monitor died last year (in the 3rd year). IMPOSSIBLE to upgrade.
Well, I've had this computer for 4 years, and it keeps on running. I have upgraded it to XP, and I've put more memory in. It does what I need it to do, aside from games--it can't handle the latest games. :(
