Pros: USB port in the front Cons: More than you can possibly imagine
To the tune of Let It Snow: All the time, systems crashing,
This machine, I feel like trashing,
Tech support is no help at all,
Re-install, re-install, re-install!
Pros: Very reliable. Cons: Nothing that I can think of.
I have had this machine for 1 year. Only one time have I had a problem with it. This problem happened last night. It was not an e-machine problem. This was an AOL problem so all of this time that I have had this computer, not once have I had a...
Pros: Priced right, meets basic needs Cons: Could have more RAM, may not be enough for advanced users
I purchased my eMachines 466id from Office Depot in October 1999. My Microworkz computer which was less than a year old died, and even though I purchased an extended warranty, they refused to honor it, so I was forced to replace it, and I had to do it...
Pros: Price is right Cons: Terrible machine and conflicts with support services
I no longer recommend buying the E Machine. In fact, you may think you are saving money, when you really may be wasting your time and money. If you have read my recent review about computer crashes you will know that this is not the first problem I...
Pros: Very affordable Cons: Included software is minimal (but what can you expect considering the price?). No AGP bus. Speakers and modem are inadequate.
The day finally came that I realized I could no longer play new video games on my PC. It was a 133mhz Pentium, and without a 3D accellerator card, it was useful for word processing and little else (and playing my old games).
Pros: Works great for me Cons: None other than my crash experience
I have always heard and read horror stories about computers crashing and viruses. After having my E Machine for 7 months, I was pretty confident that this would not happen to me. Wrong!
On August 1, my mother-in-law gave me some software....
Pros: Great price, Runs very well when used INTELLIGENTLY Cons: Runs horribly when you don't treat it right
For six months now, i have used an E-machines E-tower 466id at home. It has been an interesting experience, using a "budget PC" for what can sometimes be pretty intense work. The point I hope to make in this review is that for a person on a...
Pros: Lots of bang for the buck Cons: The WIN modem can be problematic
In my role as a computer consultant, I routinely recommend the low-end eMachines computer to my clients. The price varies somewhat, depending upon what CPU it is shipped with. I am amazed that my wholesale cost on the parts with shipping to Hawaii...
Pros: ease of use, reliability Cons: no onsite support
Update Jan 20,2001: Well this weekend my hard drive crashed. I called E-machines and attempted to utilize the extended warranty I purchased. They informed me(after being on hold 20 minutes) I would have to ship the tower in and it would take two-three...

Pros: Simple and ease for new PC owners Cons: Quality
Up until recently, I have been suffering with an old Gateway P120. It is by no means a bad computer for I have had it since 96 and haven’t had to replace a single component yet. However, since the day I bought it, it has quickly lost it competitiveness...
I purchased this product thinking that it would be a nice low cost solution. I was wrong. I needed one computer to use occasionally at my house. I found that the video memory is not enough to handle games on the market today. This is not too much of...
Pros: cost, cost, cost Cons: expansion, tech support, those crappy little speakers
Best deal I ever got on a computer. College student, computer runs 24/7 with minimal problems. Web runs great, probably because of the T1 connection. Runs most games reasonably well (Quake, Half Life, Unreal) but it is difficult to control DVD...
Pros: Low price, DVD player! Cons: Lousy modem, slow processor, tech. support stinks!
Bought the eTower 466id because I had to replace an old hand-me-down 486. Since my needs were simple (i.e. word processing, some spreadsheet work and online surfing), I did not need the fastest computer available, then.
Pros: none...it is a pretty computer if you want a paper weight! Cons: Far too many to list!!! Bad hard drives, bad DVD, loud, etc..
I just purchased a etower 466id on December 1,1999. This is when my nightmares began...let me share my horror story! I have thought and thought and thought about purchasing my own PC for months now and finally made up my mind on December 1,1999. I was...
Pros: DVD-ROM, 466MHz Celeron, 64MB RAM Cons: poor tech support
The Emachine 466id is probably one of the best priced entry-level machines. Plenty of power for first-time users. It features a powerful 466MHz Celeron processor, 64MB RAM, 8.4 GB hard drive, 56k modem, and a DVD-ROM. This machine lists for only $675....
Pros: Low price, USB and game ports in front Cons: Cheap CPU fan makes noise.

I bought this computer online for about $631 in February 2000. I upgraded from a Packard Bell that died on me. For a few months I had hardly any real trouble with it other than a noisy fan inside. Then after about 6 months the machine would suddenly...
Pros: Inexpensive and Reliable Cons: Low quality accessories
I decided to buy an emachine after a nightmarish 10 months with a Packard Bell computer. I have had a glorious month with this computer. It was inexpensive. It has a dvd player and a 17 inch monitor came in the package. The software it came with...
Pros: good starter computer or complete package for minimal expense Cons: 1cm annoying ad bar

Pros: Low Price, Decent Quality, Cons: Not really for a gamer
I had been wanting a new computer for some time but hate the fact that you spend a lot of money and in a few months it is outdated. That is why I love this emachine. It is affordable and yet in another year if I want I can get an updated one. This...

best experience...
Pros: Inexpensive purchase price Cons: Paying the long distance calls for tech support is very expensive

Pros: great for a first time user and does everything you want it to. Cons: None
I purchased my etower 400id in September (my first PC) and absolutely love it... I must be one of the lucky 3/10 people with no problems with DVD either. It's a 32MB with 6.4 GB with a 56K. This is what has taken up my life basically since I purchased...

Pros: Price, ease of use Cons: loud hard drive, modem
I got my E-tower 466id for a good price a few months ago, and have had few problems with it. Replace the modem right away-it sucks. A cable modem is essential in my book and works fine on this machine. I NEVER run more than one application at a time,...

Pros: overall ok system for the price Cons: poor tech service

Pros: Great price (often comes bundled with ISP deal) Cons: System slow, often crashes, cheap parts

This system was purchased for homework needs and internet surfing for twice the price listed on the Internet, but with a CDRW, 10/100 Network card, and a high quality 15 inch monitor. I suspect I paid too much for this system and this was probably due to...
Pros: Nice computer and price! Cons: Needs a better modem and DVD rom.
I have owned several different types of computers including Macintosh and have found that for this price, the etower 466id was the best buy for me. I didn't care for the modem that can with the unit so I installed a US Robotics. The DVD drive does not...

Pros: Good machine. Cons: Company practices fraud.
The product was purchased on 12/23/99 by my boyfriend, Philip Broske. It appeared to be especially inexpenseive because Emachines offered a $75 rebate. The rebate form said the rebate was good from 10/1/99 through 12/31/99. He mailed the form, proof of...
Pros: Best Value Around Cons: The only bad thing I noticed is an occaisional pause when the Hard Disk is being heavily used. More Ram would solve this problem. I probably needed 128MB but I will wait a month or 2 to add more memory as prices are high from the earthquake in Taiwan.

Like most people these days, I'm buying a computer to upgrade.
I have several computers but, they always need to be upgraded.

Pros: Very easy to set up and use. Cons: Plan on a fight for your rebate check.

O.K lets get this straight, this is a budget pc it has a lot of problems and can never hope to compete with dell, hp, or compaq. I am going to describe the different aspects of this pc. Just bear with me. If you have any sense in you you will not buy this computer after reading this review or all the others.
CPU: It has an intel celeron cpu clocked at 466 megahertz (MHz). It has very little L1 and L2 cache.
Graphics: Can you spell ch-op-p-y. It has 4 megabyte ati rage pro turbo agp graphics. It can only run Half Life with software emulation. Oddly the computer has no agp slot.
Memory: It uses cheap @$$ pc 2100 memory. It has only 64 megabytes ram.
Hard Drive: An 8.4 gigabyte Seagate hard drive. It is very slow.
Overall this computer is very bad, slow and no one in their right mind will buy it. End of story!!
