Great tech support on reliable, inexpensive notebook.

by mharward1 , May 15 '00
Pros: Inexpensive, durable, and great tech support.
Cons: None that wouldn't be found everywhere else, too.
Last fall I bought an HP Omnibook XE2, with a 333-MHz Intel Celeron processor, 4.2 GB hard drive, and an original 32 MB RAM. I have since upgraded to 160 MB RAM, and added on a peripheral 2 GB Jaz drive for extra storage via the USB port.

And...

Cons: limited free technical support
If you are a business user, then you are going to love this nice piece of machine for its fast performance. It is a fine computer for most business tasks and you just can't find a better deals than it.

Fine notebook at a fair price

by redvette , Apr 06 '01
Pros: Well built, troublefree usage, reasonably priced.
Cons: Screen resolution only fair. Scant software included.
The Omnibook XE2 I've owned for the past year is powered by a 450 Mhz. Celeron processor, and has a 12.1 inch TFT display. The CD ROM and floppy dives are built in so you won't have to worry about lugging extra peripherals around with you.
The unit...

Great Desktop Replacement

by kki , Oct 14 '99
Pros: big screen, little price, PII366 no celery, keyboard, integrated peripherals
Cons: Some colors on monitor output quivers (Minor)
I've worked on Dell laptops mostly, but none of them have impressed me as much as this one. I love the all in one design. I hate drive swapping in one bay and carrying that stupid floppy drive around when it could just as well been integrated. Overall,...

HP OmniBook XE2 a Serious Contender

by jsamurai , Dec 18 '99
Pros: 1. The unit came with a restore CD, so that you could restore the unit to factory new condition (software only). 2. Everything is built in, you can use the Floppy and DVD drives at the same time. 3. Online diagnostics software - to help troubleshoot issues
Cons: 1. The only docking solution for this is a port replicator. 2. Everything is built in, you cannot add a second battery or hard drive instead of another device (no multibay). 3. There is no matching keyboard or mouse to go with it. 4. It can only be upgrade
The HP OmniBook XE2 that we purchased had a Pentium II - 400MHz processor.
128MB RAM, 4X DVD drive, 6.0GB hard drive, 14.1" 1024x768 XGA TGT display with 65K colors.

The Floppy and DVD drives are both built into the unit and usable...

by podellwi , Apr 17 '00
Pros: reliable, roadable, and speedy
Cons: NONE
Due to emergency project needs the consultancy I work for purchased 3 HP XE2 PII 366 with 192 meg ram, 6 gig hd and Win NT4 SP4. We normally do not use HP but when the project was in jeopardy due to a lack of client supplied hardware we bit the bullet...

like xe2

by tbline , Sep 09 '00
Pros: speed, screen quality/overall quality
Cons: no int. ZIP
Love my xe2. I can't seem to find anything on my model though. Mine cost more than $2K and is a Omnibook xe2 P3 500MHz, 64MB, 6GB HD, 14"active matrix, and 8x DVD. I own a P3 550 desktop and this thing pretty much out performs it. I have maxed the...

Good Solid Performer

by tang_316 , Apr 19 '00
Pros: Good Price, Very Thin, CD player
Cons: Shutdown, no Keyboard Elevation
A great price for a good computer. I got mine on March 25, 2000. Didn't come with much extras, but I like the CD player feature that allows you to listen to music CD's even if the system is shut down. Two things that I don't like is that, the computer...

Bang for you Buck!

Pros: It's good for a note book
Cons: It is a notebook...
If you want a good bang for your buck, this is a great buy. In my opinion, or epinion, the Omnibooks are the the best line of notebook computers. It has a decent screen size, just over 13 inches, which is quite nice for those with poor eyesight. It has...
