Third Time's The Charm

IBM Thinkpads, Wake Forest standard issue. The Thinkpad 380XD is my third laptop from IBM, and this series seems to keep improving with every incarnation. Coming originally from a world of desktops, the...

Pros: Reliable; Powerfull; Versatile; 1st Class Service
Cons: Parts Prices are HIGH
Hi There,
I once dreamed of owning an IBM Thinkpad for some time, then when my other Laptop got stolen from school and the insurance said we found an IBM Thinkpad that you might like to replace the one you had stolen, I thought my wish was...

Thinking Smart

by Marciano11 , Jan 24 '00
Pros: Everything
Cons: none
The IBM thinkpad has transformed my learning experience. It seems as though I have moved from the dark ages of computer illiteracy to full blown comfort on any system because of my Thinkpad.

I go to Hartwick College in NY and every incoming...

What's in a Name?

by Pyanfar , Apr 28 '00
Pros: Durable, Versatile, Enjoyable to Use, Great Tech Support
Cons: Top-of-the-Line Models Start to Get Pricey
I have to fess up - I couldn't add "ThinkPad 365XD", so this one-up forum will have to do. It's the same as mine, just with a couple extras like a bigger hard drive (1 or 2GB to my 810MB) and more MHz to the processor (166 to my 120)...

Trusty, solid performance laptop

by bnasar , Dec 29 '00
Pros: Reliable, Good Design, Good Price, Active Matrix Screen
Cons: No USB
I purchased this product new a few years ago because i was looking for an inexpensive laptop that had good performance, cd-rom, and an active matrix display.

A Product Worth Having

by mythicalc , Jan 14 '00
Pros: Dependable, responsive, portable
Cons: Nothing
I have had my laptop for two years, now. It has been through more than time allows to tell. As with most IBM products, it has proven itself a tremendous tool to accomplish all that I need to do.

Probably the thing that most users of laptops...

Nice solid dependable machine, so-so company

by vegas_mike , May 29 '01
Pros: Solid machine, I use it daily
Cons: IBM didn't record my extended warranty.
First of all, navigating to the area of the IBM website that sells refurbished equipment is difficult, so if you are looking there be careful. I had better luck getting there from Yahoo and searching for refurbished IBM than I did at the IBM website...

Gets The Job Done

by mgreig , May 28 '00
Pros: Incredibly durable case, and fast action
Cons: A little heavy, and a loud CPU fan
Two months ago, I traded in my 365XD for a 380ED. Since then, I have found my laptop to be excellently durable. I have dropped it three times, have bashed it into the wall, and have bumped it around a lot. My 380 is a P166, with 32 MB's of RAM, a 3...

Solid and Strong

by houstontexas , Mar 07 '01
Pros: Internal CD-ROM and Floppy Drive, Sturdy
Cons: Weight and Size
I have used a 380XD for two years as my business school required all students to own one. These are lovingly referred to as ThinkBricks by students. They are quite thick and weigh over 6 pounds. Screens are only 12", while the standard these days is...
