Pros: Lightweight, Reliable Laptop Computer Cons: My Version Had the Hard Disk Partitioned Which Caused Me Problems
Summary: Over the summer our office was working on complicated projects. This necessitated our purchasing of two IBM Thinkpad 390x notebook computers for my boss and I to bring work home. Naturally since I'm against the idea of working at home, I really ... read more

Pros: S-Video output, 2 PCMCIA slots, very sturdy (read heavy) design Cons: heavy, small screen
Summary: Pretty small. Mine only has 6GB of HD and this was partitioned when I got it. Not so hot. This isn't standard though. I upgraded the RAM to 128MB which made a huge difference. Other than that? Very solid network performer. Built in modem is superb as is ... read more

Pros: Keyboard, screen Cons: USB cover (fell off), recovery desk, IBM help.
Summary: This product came with the Windows 98 "Recovery Disk", not the full operating system. This means that if you have any operating system problem, your only choice is to return the system to its original state, i.e. with its original files on the ... read more

Pros: durability tech support Cons: battery.
Summary: I am a network consultant who most definitely needs a reliable laptop. I bought the IBM 390 not because it was "sleek" and "lightweight" which is certainly is not, but because of it's reliability. Most times when you purchase a ... read more

Pros: Big screen, plenty fast Cons: None really
Summary: My work provided me with this unit and I have to say its a real solid performer. It definately needs more memory than the basic configuration but thats par for most computers these days.
I was a bit disappointed that for such a spendy ... read more

Pros: 14.1" TFT monitor Cons: Sleep and hibernation are not reliable with Windows 98
Summary: Be aware that IBM has several models of 390X notebooks. First of all, mine was a lot more than the $1699 street price indicated elsewhere on epinions. I paid over $4000CAN for 2626L0U. It is a Pentium III-450 with 64MB RAM, a 14.1" TFT monitor and a ... read more

Pros: Nice keyboard, display and performance Cons: Little quality problems, Windows shutdown
Summary: We have a number of 390 notebooks. They range from the 390e to the 390x.
My opinion is mixed with some cudos and some nays. All notebooks have win98 with 64 megs of ram. Plenty, providing relatively quick performance with operating/software ... read more

Pros: well... good question Cons: quite instable, slow, not high quality at all
Summary: I got a 390x with a Pentium II (is this a Celeron?) 400 and I am quite disappointed.
There is Winnt Workstation (Sp6b) on it (and I installed latest Bios Update). With 64 MB this machine was absolutely horrible slow. With 128 Mb it's ok. ... read more
