Is That a Laptop in Your Pocket?

by argonut , Sep 21 '00
Pros: lightweight, digital camera built-in, easy to carry around, IEEE port included
Cons: tiny keyboard and screen take some getting used to, doesn't come with a CD-ROM
Wouldn’t it be cool to be a spy? Get your hands on a couple fancy gadgets to let you see around corners and stand on the ceilings and hear conversations occurring a mile away and you’re in business. Sneak into restricted areas and take snapshots of...

Best computer ever ?

by hippos , Nov 24 '00
Pros: Excellent, useful and versatile
Cons: Build quality
Well, I've had mine for over 6 months and its one of the best purchases I ever made! Its the C1XD model (pentim 400, 64 RAM, 12 GB)
I was after a laptop and was aware of this one but thought it may be too small and too expensive. I was wrong.
I...

by jeffs320 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Nov 20 '00
Pros: Small, light, portable
Cons: Prone to breakage by 300 pound people's back pockets, a little slow
The day I came to work for Sony I saw one of these and thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Well, almost the coolest...girls are pretty cool, too!

This notebook computer carries more power than my Dad's desktop computer (OK, so...

Techie Gran

by JudithKramer , Oct 11 '00
Pros: Small size, large capacity, clear screen.
Cons: Need to plug in disk drives.
I received my Sony Picturebook in return for a couple of days work - what a bargain! I have the most fun using the camera, sending family photos instantly all over the world, making little videos for faraway friends. I imagine that one day a promise...

Innovative tool, if a bit pricey

by GR366 , Nov 06 '99
Pros: Stunning design, compact size, genuinely useful and fun!
Cons: A little slow, somewhat expensive
I'm writing this epinion from my Sony PictureBook. I bought this nifty little machine six months ago and have gotten a lot of use out of it, primarily Web surfing, email and Web development. Okay, some games too.

The camera, built on a swivel...

Avoid Sony VAIOs

by jayp39 , Oct 25 '01
Pros: Small, lightweight, cute
Cons: Many software incompatabilities, proprietary screen resolution, no floppy or CDROM
When I first saw the Sony VAIO, I was quite impressed. They are sleek, thin, light weight wonders of technology.
And they're cute. Who could not love a Sony VAIO?
Let me tell you who - a computer enthusaist, such as myself.

There are...

The perfect portable computer?

by tdi1 , Nov 05 '99
Pros: size, screen, portability
Cons: no internal storage, external power supply
I sit here writing this review on a Sony C1 Picturebook. Alongside this computer rests a PII 450 Windows NT machine and another desktop. Yet the Picturebook gets used 95% of the time. Why?

First, review the specifications.

Too Dreamy and useful for words

by vanity , Sep 24 '99
Pros: size, weight, speed, display, performance, convenience
Cons: small keyboard
I gave up a 7 pound Fujitsu for this and my life has gotten better every single day. Designed through and through, using clever small touches like folding power source (so the power source lays flat and the prongs don't poke out) I feared it might be...

Solid, but first generation

by alexed , Sep 09 '99
Pros: Built-in Camera is great, Useful mini laptop
Cons: expensive, camera has 1st generation limitations
A solid solution. Just barely big enough to be useful as a lug-around notebook computer, which means that it's good enough for word-processing and email, but probably not a good desktop replacement.

I've spent a lot of time with the camera....

A good try

by richt , Sep 27 '99
Pros: Small, Light
Cons: Short Battery Life, Small Screen
I've used this machine for a couple of months now. It is really nice to have such a small form factor. The keyboard is usable, but the screen is very tiny. I read email with it and can write Word documents. It is very hard with PowerPoint.

The...

Cons: battery life, battery life, battery life
Well, I purchased the VAIO PCG-CIX in June of 1999. I am sure that you all know what comes in the box and other features about this product from the other reviews, so I will just be brief with my own experience.

HOW?

by killerc4 , Nov 18 '99
Pros: Tiny, fast, digital camera
Cons: price is a little much
This is incredible! I remember having a pentium 133 only half a year ago and now this tiny little thing is running at 266 Mhz with MMX? I have to admit the first time that I saw this notebook, it was so small that I thought it was one of those daily...

Innovative, yes...reasonable?

by mikey_l , Aug 18 '00
Pros: Power-packed and small, "digital eye" camera
Cons: Keyboard is small, as is the screen
I bought my picturebook first off because I got a REALLY good price on it (I wasn't willing to pay the high prices that most stores have them for), and also becuase I consider myself a "tech geek" and I've seen nothing with this much...

Good thing in a small package.

by the_rev , Mar 15 '00
Pros: Small size, great screen.
Cons: Prone to overheating.
I just purchased the c1x picturebook and I must say that I am very impressed. I was somewhat concerned by the fact that it is powered by a mere pentium 266 mmx in this era where AMD has just released a processor that must be rated in the giga hertz, but...

Pros: Great size, nice camera addition
Cons: Slow processor, Small Hard drive, Sporadic problems
This notebook is my first attempt in entering the the ultraportable gadgets world. It leaves me with a very good first impression, but it left me more and more less impressed.

I got this notebook last summer, and i didn't bother re-installing...

regrets of buying a PCG-C1XA

by hisashi_22 , Jun 12 '00
Pros: Unique video attached and small.
Cons: fragile and Sony does not honored warranty!
I was amaze when I first saw the PCG-C1XA but that was the beginning of my nightmare after I bought it two months ago.

One day, while I was adjusting the notebook for a better view, the LCD cracked, and part of my screen was filled with lines...

A little pricey but economical for its size.

by swanzy15 , Nov 22 '99
Pros: good in the long run.
Cons: Cost a lot to get an extra battery.
I think is is a good value for its but you can do better for a little bit larger in the long run. It is good for people who don't have a lot of space. It would be perfect for people on the run like stock brokers, accountants, and CEO's that travel a lot....
