Amazing design & very useful!

by jaymlang , Dec 30 '00
Pros: well-made, easy to use, comfortable keyboard
Cons: expensive
After pondering whether or not to get the Palm Portable Keyboard for my Palm Vx for months, I ended up getting one as a Christmas present. I am thrilled with it already!

STRENGTHS:
-The keyboard is very compact, and folds up into a...

When a laptop isn't necessary

by georeedy , Oct 10 '00
Pros: Writing emails, notes, one-touch access
Cons: none yet
There are times in my job when only a laptop will do. Powerpoint presentations, detailed record modifications in my contact software, and the like. 90% of the time, all I need to do is write a few emails, edit a contact's information, or take a few...

Tiny and comfortable-- ideal for note-taking

by mute , Aug 14 '00
Pros: Tiny! Foldy! Good action, full-sized keys!
Cons: One minor software problem. That's it. Nothing else.

So, I've had a Visor for a while, and I'd been avoiding using it for extended text-entry, since doing lots of writing is kind of tiring. It's great for jotting notes, but not necessarily for, say, taking notes during classes or presentations.

Fellowes Pocket Keyboard - Not your father's stowaway keyboard!

by NotreDameMBA , Jul 28 '01
Pros: Small, smartly designed, low power consumption, rugged.
Cons: Difficult for large fingers, no carry case.
This is not a review of the Stowaway Portable Keyboard - it is for the Fellowes Pocket PDA Keyboard. When Epinions creates a new category for this, I will move this review there.

I have owned the Palm III ever since it debuted...

Never leave home without it...

by alanmak , Apr 26 '02
Pros: Increases productivity, great for meetings, a useful gadget
Cons: Feels somewhat delicate, probably not durable enough for long-term/high-use applications.
The Palm portable keyboard transformed my PDA from a calendar/diary/ebook into a fully functional word processor. Being able to bang out typed notes during meetings has saved me many hours of work (I have very poor handwriting and had a habit of typing...

Palm Portable Keyboard: Touch-Typing on My Palm

by niradw , Aug 08 '01
Pros: Its full-size keys allow full-speed touch-typing on my Palm, and it's very portable.
Cons: Must be used on a flat surface, and PalmOS is still a stylus-oriented interface.
Do you touch-type? I see no reason to buy this portable keyboard unless you do. You can probably hunt-and-peck with the on-screen keyboard just as quickly as you can with this portable keyboard.

Does Graffiti slow you down? Does the on-screen...

Great hardware; software drivers need work

by asargent , Jul 16 '00
Pros: Fast entry of text, light weight
Cons: Software doesn't let you drive applications from the keyboard
Palm Keyboard Evaluation

Overall: the keyboard is a major leap forward for Palm users. I typed this review on my Pilot in maybe 5% of the time it would have taken otherwise. However, modifications to the key assignments would be useful to help...

For the ultimate experience in mobile writing

by morituri , Dec 06 '01
Pros: Full size keys, Extremely compact when folded
Cons: No built-in recharger and serial (Hotsync) ports, Doesn't work so well on non-flat surfaces.
Note : This review typed on the Palm Portable Keyboard

My first impression is : It's so small! It's just about the size of a Palm V in a hard case.

The package comes with a CD containing the driver and a cloth zip case....

Perfect, Petite, Worth every Penny!

by mtvsux , Dec 28 '00
Pros: Small, yet full size! no batteries.
Cons: None
I love my Palm V and do not mind graphitti one bit. But there are days i just want to write a journal entry or type an email, which i would never do with graphitti, it would just be a waste of time and my goal for my palm, is to save time and make my...

Best PDA Input Alternative

by sage420 , Apr 13 '00
Pros: Colapsable, Extremely Portable, Fully Functional
Cons: $99.95
The Stowaway Keyboard is the best user input alternative available. This foldable, portable keyboard has everything the traveling worker needs. Unlike its counterparts (GoType and Twiddler), the Stowaway is a fully functional keyboard with a...

Briefcase Stowaway

by RichBoston Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jul 31 '00
Pros: Lightweight, Opens From Compact to Fullsize
Cons: Needs Flat Surface to Stay Open
I resisted this nifty device for quite some time but I finally bought one and I’m glad I did!

I don’t like taking my laptop with me on short business trips as it’s too heavy and bulky. Plus, I use it mostly for notes, memos and email and it...

Leave Your Laptop at Home!

by joshuanewman , Mar 14 '00
Pros: Full sized keyboard that packs tiny is perfect for travel
Cons: None
I travel quite a bit for my Venture Capital fund, and for the last few years I've lugged a laptop wherever I went. Over time, however, I started to realize that all I really wanted to do was to check and respond to email, and have my calendar and...

Instant laptop!

by uwaku , Sep 13 '00
Pros: Small, full-size keys, customizable
Cons: No power button, vertical main buttons
I've long been a laptop user, traveling around the world, and the Handspring Visor was perfect except for taking notes in class. I can write graffiti around 40-50wpm, but that's still slower than taking notes on paper.

Then, along came the...

High Quality, Sleek-Looking Device that could use a Word Processing Program

by zkmusa , Feb 14 '01
Pros: The best alternative to grafitti; high quality device; very small
Cons: somewhat expensive; you may need to buy an add-on third-party word processor
After I bought my Palm Pilot almost a year ago, I quickly got used to Grafitti. Once you get used to it, the Grafitti language becomes very accurate, but never extremely fast. I loved using Grafitti to enter short memos or coming up events in the...

Outstanding product

by f8lee , Aug 10 '00
Pros: compact, lightweaight, quality keyboard
Cons: none
A compact, lightweight keyboard as good as most laptops' - and it still has quite the "wow" factor when you unfold it on a plane. Seriously, the ability to simply power on and actually type into the Palm is wonderful - I've written short...
